Your Daily Prayer - A Prayer for Godly Guidance on Election Day
Election Day carries a weight that can feel overwhelming — especially when discouragement over past elections, concern about outside influence on outcomes, and the sheer volume of political messaging make it tempting to disengage entirely. But for Christians, withdrawing our voice only creates space for outcomes that grieve the heart of God. Our votes are one of the ways we can let our convictions as believers shape the direction of the nation and its future generations. Proverbs 16:33 anchors the whole conversation in an important truth: the lot is cast into the lap, but its every decision is from the Lord. That does not remove our responsibility to vote thoughtfully and faithfully — it grounds our participation in the confidence that God is sovereign over every outcome. President Calvin Coolidge once wrote that voters should approach the ballot box in the spirit they would approach a sacrament, making their choices solely in the light of their own conscience. That is the invitation of this episode: to approach voting not as a partisan exercise or a reaction to political advertising and peer pressure, but as an act of worship and faithfulness. Five biblical principles provide a framework for that preparation — studying God’s Word to discern His voice, honoring God in every decision, supporting the value of life, seeking justice for all, and standing for the freedom that God gives to every person. When we prepare our hearts this way, the voting booth becomes less about political allegiance and more about faithfully reflecting what God has already spoken. Bible Verse “The lot is cast into the lap, but its every decision is from the Lord.” — Proverbs 16:33, NIV Ponder Today God is sovereign over every election outcome — and that is both a comfort and a call to faithfulness. Our responsibility is to vote thoughtfully, grounded in Scripture and conscience. The results belong to Him. Withdrawing our voice does not protect us from outcomes — it contributes to them. Discouragement over past election issues is understandable, but withholding our votes only creates space for what we do not support. Faithful participation matters. Studying God’s Word is the most important preparation for voting well. When our hearts and minds are tuned to Scripture, we are better equipped to discern what is right and true — and to recognize the difference between God’s voice and political persuasion. Voting in the light of conscience, not pressure, is a sacred act. Calvin Coolidge’s counsel to approach the ballot box as a sacrament remains worth considering. Our votes should reflect our deepest convictions, not the most recent advertisement or social pressure. Biblical principles — life, justice, freedom, honoring God — provide a framework for faithful voting. When we filter the issues before us through these lenses, the choices become less about party and more about reflecting God’s heart for people and nations. A Prayer for You Today Dear Father, as I go to vote on Election Day, lead and guide me in choosing which individuals to vote for and how to vote on the various issues and policies presented to me. Help me to study and know Your Word so that I know Your voice when I hear it and it directs my voting. Embolden me to honor You with my votes, choosing in ways that please You. Strengthen my heart to uphold the importance of valuing life. Give me a heart that seeks justice for all — both the weak and the strong — and open my eyes to see what is right and wrong, true and false, good and evil. Help me to stand for righteousness and the freedom You give to each life on earth. In Jesus’ name, Amen. Want

Your Nightly Scripture - Joining Creation in Praise (Psalm 148)
Evening Scripture Psalm, Chapter 148 Hallelujah! Praise the LORD from the heavens; praise Him in the highest places. Praise Him, all His angels; praise Him, all His heavenly hosts. Praise Him, O sun and moon; praise Him, all you shining stars. Praise Him, O highest heavens, and you waters above the skies. Let them praise the name of the LORD, for He gave the command and they were created. He established them forever and ever; He issued a decree that will never pass away. Praise the LORD from the earth, all great sea creatures and ocean depths, lightning and hail, snow and clouds, powerful wind fulfilling His word, mountains and all hills, fruit trees and all cedars, wild animals and all cattle, crawling creatures and flying birds, kings of the earth and all peoples, princes and all rulers of the earth, young men and maidens, old and young together. Let them praise the name of the LORD, for His name alone is exalted; His splendor is above the earth and the heavens. He has raised up a horn for His people, the praise of all His saints, of Israel, a people near to Him. Hallelujah! Evening Reflection Sometimes we can forget how good it is to praise the Lord, because of how it not only glorifies Him, but also lifts us up from the inside-out. When we praise Him, our hearts and minds are encouraged, refreshed, and renewed, as we praise His glorious majesty. We can too easily forget that we aren’t the only ones praising Him, but are joining in with a multitude of angels and heavenly hosts, and with the sun, moon, and shining stars, and all of Creation. It is the highest privilege to be able to praise the Lord, to lift up His name and speak of His glorious and majestic ways and attributes. In Luke 19:38-40, as Jesus was making His triumphal entry into Jerusalem, “When He came near the place where the road goes down the Mount of Olives, the whole crowd of disciples began joyfully to praise God in loud voices for all the miracles they had seen: ‘Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord! Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!”” Yet, “Some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to Jesus, ‘Teacher, rebuke your disciples!’” “’I tell you,’ He replied, ‘if they keep quiet, the stones will cry out.’” Even if others try to silence us from praising God, His creation cannot keep quiet. It has been created and issued a decree to praise His name forevermore. His name alone is to be exalted, the only One who is worthy of our praise, and we have a divine invitation to join in with Creation to lift up His Holy Name. Evening Prayer God, Today I lift up Your name in praise, joining in with the angels, heavenly hosts, the sun, moon, and shining stars, and all of Creation to praise Your Holy Name. Your Nightly Prayer: Evening Prayers for Christian... - A Prayer When Election Anxiety Steals Your Peace
Elections often bring tension, division, and negativity that saturates every conversation and every feed in the days and weeks surrounding a vote. Even for those who try to engage thoughtfully and charitably, the weight of it accumulates. The anxiety is real. But as followers of Christ, we are called to respond to political uncertainty differently than the culture around us. Not disengaged, not indifferent, but rooted in something that does not shift with election results. Psalm 56:3-4 was written by David in a genuinely dangerous moment, and what he models is not the absence of fear but the decision made in the middle of it. When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. The fear is acknowledged. And then a choice is made. What can mere mortals do to me? Not because the stakes do not matter, but because the ultimate source of hope is not located in any political outcome. Our hope comes from God alone. Psalm 39:7 makes it plain: for what do I wait, O Lord? My hope is in you. When that is the foundational belief, the anxiety that clings to us as the chaos surges does not have the same grip. We can remain calm and compassionate in conversations with people who vote differently because we are not trusting a system to bring goodness and mercy into the world. We know that God alone ushers light into the darkness, and no election can stop that work. Three responses are available to us regardless of what the results bring: prayer, which is powerful and effective and is where change begins; worship, which transforms our hearts and reorients us to what is ultimately true; and continuing to be the light, caring for the brokenhearted, the outcast, and the vulnerable. No political outcome can take that mission from us. God’s peace surpasses understanding. It is available right now, in the middle of the uncertainty. Rest in it tonight. Ponder Tonight David’s posture in Psalm 56 is not denial of fear. It is the deliberate choice, made in the middle of real danger, to place trust in God rather than in circumstances or outcomes. That same posture is available to us in every season of political anxiety. When hope is genuinely rooted in God rather than in political outcomes, we can engage thoughtfully with the political sphere without being destabilized by it. Our composure in hard conversations becomes a witness in itself. Prayer, worship, and continued service are not retreats from engagement. They are the most powerful forms of engagement available to a follower of Christ, and they remain fully available regardless of what any election produces. Allowing political outcomes to function as a source of hope or despair is a form of misplaced trust. Returning honestly to God with that and asking Him to be our firm foundation again is one of the most important prayers of this season. Tonight’s Scripture “When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. Whatever happens, give us peace because our hope is in You alone. Give us the strength to love others well, even those who vote differently from us. Forgive us for the ways we have let politics become a source of identity or security that belongs only to You. Show us how to trust You to do Your good work, no matter what is happening in our world. Bring revival into our nation. Change hearts, transform lives, and show us grace through the power of Your presence. Teach us to worship You in every circumstance and to be the embodiment
