When faced with a gout diagnosis, many people are told to reduce their intake of red meat, organ meats, and shellfish because they contain purines. Purines turn into uric acid, and for a small percentage of people, removing them from the diet may eliminate gout symptoms. However, many people find that avoiding purines alone doesn’t help. Research has found that one of the strongest drivers of gout is insulin resistance. Uric acid is normally eliminated through the kidneys and the gut. When you have insulin resistance, it becomes more difficult for the kidneys to flush out uric acid. As uric acid builds up, it can accumulate in the joints, causing gout pain, or back up into the kidneys and contribute to kidney stones. High-fructose corn syrup can significantly increase uric acid production in the liver. Fructose is found in table sugar, agave nectar, fruit, and fruit juice, and is primarily metabolized by the liver. Hidden glucose from industrial starches can significantly raise insulin levels, contributing to uric acid buildup and joint pain, especially in the big toe and knees. Poor gut health and alcohol consumption may also contribute to gout. Some people experience a gout attack when starting keto, but this is typically temporary and often subsides within the first or second week. Consuming celery and increasing your fluid intake may help your body clear uric acid more quickly. DON'T CONSUME THESE IF YOU'RE OVER 50!!!

Find out about the worst foods for aging adults that can put your health at risk. Avoid these diet mistakes after 50 for health and longevity! Watch this episode next: Reset Your Body in 5 Days (With Zero Food) 0:00 Introduction: Foods to avoid after 50 0:53 Forever chemicals in the water supply 1:22 Zinc-depleting foods and aging 3:33 Seed oils 4:15 Soy protein and refined soy products 5:21 Low-fat foods and aging 5:56 More healthy aging tips Our bodies become more vulnerable as we age, so what we eat and drink is vital to our health. Here are the foods to avoid after 50! 1. Unfiltered water I noticed that my tap water is high in a chemical called perfluorooctanoic acid. The amount of this chemical in my water supply exceeds the acceptable level by 98,650%! This increases my risk for cancer, liver problems, and kidney problems. Most of the water supply contains forever chemicals that don't break down and accumulate in the brain. Find a good water filter that filters out forever chemicals! 2. Foods that deplete zinc Zinc supports testosterone, which significantly decreases in both men and women with aging. Testosterone is essential for muscle mass and supports thymus function. Zinc is also involved in making hydrochloric acid. Refined carbohydrates and starches deplete zinc. 3. Seed oils Seed oils can become stored in the membranes of cells, including the cells in your brain. Instead, use butter, tallow, lard, or olive oil for cooking. 4. Refined soy products Soy protein isolates are used in many products, such as protein bars that are marketed as healthy. You do not want to consume refined, unnatural protein like soy protein isolate. 5. Low-fat foods Vitamin K2 is vital as you age, and it’s only found in fatty foods. If you follow a low-fat diet, you’re depriving yourself of an essential nutrient that can keep your bones and joints healthy. Magnesium supports good quality deep sleep, which is crucial as we age. Taking a magnesium glycinate supplement before bed is one of the best ways to increase your magnesium intake and improve sleep. Instead of focusing on salt restriction, focus on increasing potassium and incorporating high-quality sea salt into your diet. Aneurysms: The Silent Killer

Aneurysms can cause a stroke or even death. Learn about some common causes of aneurysms and how to prevent them. Uploaded 09-06-24 Watch this episode next: Reset Your Body in 5 Days (With Zero Food) Just so you know, my full line of high-quality supplements is available on Amazon — search Dr. Berg Supplements. 0:00 Introduction 0:54 Types of aneurysms 1:52 Aneurysm causes 4:36 Preventing aneurysms In this video, we’re going to talk about aneurysms. There are typically no early aneurysm symptoms or signs, so they often occur without warning. An aneurysm is a bulging dilation of the vascular system. There are no symptoms until it ruptures, leading to a hole in the artery. If this occurs in the brain, it’s known as a brain aneurysm, which can cause a stroke. Aneurysms can occur in the brain (brain aneurysm, intracranial aneurysm, cerebral aneurysm), around the heart and aorta (aortic aneurysm), in the kidney, and in other areas of the body. The thumb-to-palm test can indicate if you are at a higher risk of an aneurysm. Some common aneurysm causes include the following: •Smoking (4x greater risk) •Chronic alcohol use •Diabetes •High sugar intake •Seed oil consumption •Dental bacteria Anything that causes chronic inflammation or oxidation can weaken your arterial system and contribute to an aneurysm. Consider any related health concerns to prevent aneurysms and support blood vessel health. If you have high blood pressure, increase your potassium, magnesium, and vitamin D intake. A low-carb diet can also help lower your blood pressure. Sometimes, a copper deficiency can cause an aneurysm. Copper is necessary to help your body build collagen. Here are a few other ways to prevent aneurysms: • Avoid inflammatory foods • Consume antioxidants • Consume foods with omega-3s • Increase vitamin D • Exercise regularly Dr. Eric Berg DC Bio: Dr. Berg, age 59, is a chiropractor who specializes in Healthy Ketosis and Intermittent Fasting. Could 1 tablespoon per day of a potent polyphenol be the natural belly fat solution you’ve been searching for? Watch this video to find out. DATA: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/30421960/ 0:00 Introduction: How to lose belly fat 0:24 Do you have a slow metabolism? 1:22 Mitochondrial uncoupling 3:05 Resveratrol benefits 4:01 Other ways to increase mitochondrial uncoupling and burn fat 5:06 What blocks mitochondrial uncoupling? Today, I’m going to tell you how to lose belly fat and burn stubborn fat fast. If you have a slow metabolism, this solution is for you! People who think they have a slow metabolism actually have an efficient metabolism. This means their body requires less fuel. To lose stubborn fat, you must get your body to waste more fuel. The mitochondria are the body's “energy factories,” turning food into stored energy, known as ATP. Uncoupling occurs when the mitochondria make less ATP and more heat. Resveratrol is a natural mitochondrial uncoupler. It’s found in grapes, cranberries, blueberries, dark chocolate, pistachios, and Japanese knotweed. Resveratrol is also made into a powder supplement. One tablespoon per day can help reduce belly fat by encouraging mitochondrial uncoupling. Ketones can cause mitochondrial uncoupling and improve the function of the mitochondria. Cold therapy, exercise, fasting, green tea, saunas, and jacuzzis also cause mitochondrial uncoupling. The following factors can hinder mitochondrial uncoupling, making it difficult to burn fat: • Excess calories • Aging • Sedentary lifestyle • Heavy metal exposure • Certain medications (statins, beta-blockers, Metformin, antibiotics) Dr. Eric Berg DC Bio: Dr. Berg, age 59, is a chiropractor who specializes in Healthy Ketosis & Intermittent Fasting. Different forms of magnesium help with different health issues. Learn more about the benefits of magnesium L-threonate. For more details on this topic, check out the full article on the website: ➡️https://drbrg.co/4dtxsbx DATA: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC9820677/ 0:00 Introduction: Magnesium explained 0:10 What is magnesium L-threonate? 0:45 Benefits of magnesium threonate? 5:18 What is the best type of magnesium? 5:40 Get unfiltered health information by signing up for my newsletter Magnesium comes in many different forms. Today, I want to cover magnesium threonate or magnesium L-threonate. This is a specific type of magnesium. Threonate transports magnesium across the blood-brain barrier to the hippocampus. The hippocampus is involved in memory, learning, focus, and concentration. People typically take magnesium L-threonate when they want to support the brain. A magnesium deficiency can lead to various issues related to the brain and throughout the body. Benefits of magnesium L-threonate: • It may help reduce worry and anxiety (especially when trying to sleep) • It may help decrease neuroinflammation and neurodegeneration • It’s a calcium regulator and antagonist • It helps maintain and support the blood-brain barrier • It can act as an antioxidant • It helps support BDNF • It may help with androgenic alopecia If you want to use magnesium to support the brain, I would use magnesium threonate. To support other issues like cramping or fatigue or to support the heart, I would take magnesium glycinate. Magnesium citrate can be helpful as well, especially to help prevent kidney stones. The Root Cause of Depression is NOT a Chemical Imbalance with Serotonin

There is no evidence that depression is a chemical imbalance in the brain involving serotonin. It has been found that SSRIs can temporarily help increase serotonin in the brain. However, drug trials have shown that these anti-depressants were almost indistinguishable from the placebo in treating depression. SSRIs come with a lot of side effects, including serious side effects involving the sex organs. Psychiatric drugs also come with a black box warning, meaning there is a high risk of suicidal thoughts and behaviors. Does depression cause body problems, or do body problems cause depression? I think it could be both—but we’re going to focus on the body problems and deficiencies that could cause depression. Potential causes of depression: 1. Insomnia 2. Chronic fatigue 3. Stress 4. Nutritional deficiencies (vitamin D, vitamin B12, vitamin B1, magnesium, DHA) 5. This Was SABOTAGING My Life

Insomnia is torture! In this video, I’ll share several sleep tips to address the real reason why you’re waking up at night. Find out how to sleep better at night and eliminate sleep problems for good. Watch this episode next: Reset Your Body in 5 Days (With Zero Food) 0:00 Introduction: How can I sleep better at night? 0:57 Magnesium for better sleep 2:11 Low blood sugar and sleep problems 2:50 Tips to sleep better at night 3:46 Salt and sleep 4:39 Increasing melatonin to sleep better at night 5:22 Liver health and insomnia Cortisol should be at its lowest point at 2 a.m., but for some, it’s at its highest! This can cause night waking and other sleep problems that can really interfere with your day. Sleep medication can worsen this problem by causing your cortisol to rise even more. Magnesium glycinate before bed can help lower cortisol, which can help you sleep better at night. Twitching and cramping can signify a magnesium deficiency. Low blood sugar can increase cortisol and cause you to wake up at night. If your diet is high in carbs, your blood sugar may decrease while sleeping, and your body will increase cortisol levels to normalize your blood sugar. If you’re waking up at 2 a.m., evaluate what you ate the day before. Refined starches, MSG, alcohol, snacking, and eating late can disturb sleep. Salt cravings can signify a sodium deficiency. Sodium helps lower cortisol, so add more sea salt to your meals throughout the day if you’re having salt cravings. Here are a few other sleep tips that can help you sleep better at night: •Avoid suspense and action movies before bed •Avoid blue light before bed •Get plenty of sunlight during the day •Go for long walks •Exercise to release excess energy The liver detoxifies the body between 1 a.m. and 3 a.m. Night waking during this time frame could signify a problem with the liver. Milk thistle before bed can help. Restless legs syndrome can be related to a B1 or magnesium deficiency. Lower your carb intake and increase your consumption of these nutrients. A high pulse rate could signify a potassium deficiency, which can also interfere with sleep. Apple cider vinegar before bed can help stabilize blood sugar for better sleep, but make sure it’s diluted. Let’s talk about fake meats—like meatless burgers, for example, and why they’re bad for your health. As people are testing out alternative animal products like fake meat, cheese, and eggs, their health will suffer because the ingredients are not actually healthy. Plant-based, fake animal products are not sustainable for your health or the environment. On the other hand, 100% grass-fed beef is a very healthy food and is great for the environment. Cows that live on the land and eat grass are fantastic for creating fertile soil. Cow manure is the ultimate fertilizer because it adds essential factors back into the soil, including microbes. The concentration of microbes in the soil is what makes plants and animal products nutrient-dense. To maintain a healthy body, we need nutrient-dense foods. However, many ingredients used in plant-based meats, cheeses, and other products are GMO and inhibit microbial growth. The only way to get nutrient-dense foods is to consume food grown on nutrient-dense soil. Let’s talk about the #1 food for the brain. It’s a misconception that the brain can't regenerate—certain parts of the brain can regrow. The top foods to avoid to support a healthy brain are: 1. Omega-6 fatty acids (soy oil, corn oil, canola oil, and cottonseed oil) 2. Sugar 3. Refined carbs The best food to support brain health is wild-caught salmon. Wild-caught salmon can help enhance the brain in many ways, including supporting: • Memory • Focus • Thinking • Problem-solving • Learning It may also be beneficial for those with mood disorders or brain inflammation. Consuming more wild-caught salmon may even help reduce insulin resistance, which is at the core of many brain problems. The brain is the fattiest organ in the body. Omega-3 fatty acids are the healthy fats your brain needs. They’re the building blocks of your brain. Wild-caught salmon is rich in omega-3 fatty acids. Wild-caught salmon is keto-friendly. It’s low-carb and has a good amount of protein and nutrients. But, to get these incredible benefits for the brain, be sure the salmon you choose is wild-caught and not farm-raised. Try having your salmon with a kale salad topped with olive oil and unfortified nutritional yeast to take your brain health to the next level. Don't Use Ginger if You Have THESE Problems

In this video, we’ll discuss some of ginger’s health benefits and when it may not be an appropriate remedy. For thousands of years, ginger has been used as a powerful remedy for many conditions. Some of the amazing benefits of ginger include: • Antimicrobial properties • Anti-inflammatory properties • Anti-diabetic properties • Anti-cancer properties • Helping with menstrual pain • Helping with arthritis • Increasing HDL • Improving heartburn One of the most well-known uses of ginger is its ability to relieve nausea. Ginger can help with nausea associated with chemotherapy, pregnancy, menstruation, and surgery. Ginger has some contraindications, so it may not always be the best remedy for you. Don’t take ginger if you’re on Warfarin or other blood thinners like aspirin. Ginger helps thin the blood, so you also won’t want to take it if you have a bleeding disorder. Ginger inhibits insulin, so don’t take it if you’re on insulin. Ginger can lower blood pressure, so avoid it if you’re taking blood pressure medication. Ginger also stimulates the gallbladder, so don’t consume it if you have gallstones. The Most Powerful Group Behind What You Eat

This includes products made from corn, soy, wheat, sugar, and rice, which comprise about 68% of the average person’s calories in the United States. The 4 following companies are the middlemen between farmers and food corporations: 1. Archer Daniels Midland 2. Bunge 3. Cargill 4. Louis Dreyfus There is a lot of corruption in the food industry. Many “junk food brands” also own organic and natural brands, pet food, and vitamin and supplement companies. Starches, sugars, and seed oils are the main ingredients in almost all ultra-processed foods. The sugar is used to keep you wanting more, seed oils are repurposed waste, and starches are a chain of sugars used as a filler. Starches cause more of an insulin spike than sugar. Sugar has a glycemic index of 65 compared to 185 for maltodextrin! Fillers and starches can cause major health problems. The market follows the demand, so what you choose to buy is important! If you stop buying these products, you decrease the demand. Dr. Eric Berg DC Bio: Dr. Berg, age 59, is a chiropractor who specializes in Healthy Ketosis and Intermittent Fasting. The #1 Most Toxic Ingredient in the World

The most dangerous ingredient is not what you think! In this video, I’ll tell you how to avoid this dangerous ingredient because you won’t find it on a food label. Discover the connection between acrylamide and cancer and find out how to identify dangerous foods that contain acrylamide. Watch this episode next: Reset Your Body in 5 Days (With Zero Food) 0:00 Introduction: Acrylamide health effects 1:00 Acrylamide in food 3:18 Acrylamide foods to avoid 3:44 How to avoid acrylamide 5:35 Acrylamide in coffee 6:01 What is acrylamide? 7:27 Acrylamide and cancer DATA: https://www.cancerresearchuk.org/abou... Today, we’re going to talk about a dangerous ingredient that’s worse than high-fructose corn syrup, sugar, starches, and seed oils! It’s a potent neurotoxin, damages reproductive organs, and is classified as a Class A carcinogen by the EPA. You won’t find this dangerous ingredient on a food label because it’s a byproduct, not an ingredient used to make the food. Acrylamide is created when you combine a specific protein with refined sugar such as glucose, dextrose, glucose syrup, or maltodextrin under high heat. Saturated fats prevent the formation of acrylamide. If junk foods were made with saturated fat like tallow, this could significantly reduce cancer risk. Here are some foods to avoid that contain acrylamide: •Corn chips •Potato chips •French fries •Baked goods •Crackers •Cookies •Cereal •Bread crust •Roasted coffee To avoid acrylamide, cook with tallow, coconut oil, or butter, and use natural sugar like honey or sugar cane. Slow cooking reduces the formation of acrylamide. Focus on consuming whole foods and avoid refined and processed foods. If you eat junk food, pair it with something to counter the effects of acrylamide. Cruciferous vegetables contain protective compounds that protect against acrylamide. Garlic, sprouts, sauerkraut, citrus, bell peppers, green tea, and spirulina also have protective effects. Organic dark-roasted or espresso coffee is heated to 400 degrees, destabilizing acrylamide. Light-roasted coffee has 10 times more acrylamide than dark-roasted coffee.
