The 10 Most Harmful Food Additives on Earth

These dangerous food additives are designed to get you hooked! Find out about the hidden toxins in your diet that could be taking a serious toll on your health. Avoid these ingredients by any means necessary! Watch this episode next: Reset Your Body in 5 Days (With Zero Food) Chapters: 0:00 Introduction: The most dangerous ingredients in the world 0:23 Why are these toxic ingredients so addictive? 3:06 10 deadly ingredients in processed food 6:00 Seed oils and your health 12:05 Download the Dr. Berg app! How do they turn cheap, toxic ingredients into a highly addictive food? The worst food ingredients often have the following components: •Devoid of protein •Create a blood sugar spike •Artificial flavorings •MSG •Manipulated texture •Good mouth feel •Bliss point •Signals the release of dopamine •Pleasure when eating Avoid the following toxic ingredients, often found in ultra-processed foods. 1. Trans fats Some foods still contain trans fats. This ingredient is even worse when combined with refined carbohydrates. 2. High fructose corn syrup This synthetic sugar goes straight to the liver, contributing to a fatty liver and insulin resistance. Sweet drinks made with alcohol cause significant liver damage and affect the brain, nervous system, and heart. Seed oils exacerbate this problem. 3. Sodium nitrate This is a preservative found in bacon and hot dogs, and it becomes increasingly toxic when heated. 4. Fried potatoes/burnt toast Adding heat to a starch creates toxic byproducts such as aldehydes and acrylamide. These toxic ingredients cause inflammation in the body. Starch or sugar combined with protein creates AGEs, harmful byproducts that damage your arteries, eyes, kidneys, and brain. 5. Artificial sweeteners Artificial sweeteners have a toxic effect on the body, especially the microbiome. 6. Glyphosate Glyphosate is patented as an antibiotic and classified by the WHO as a probable carcinogen. 7. MSG Monosodium glutamate affects the hypothalamus in rats, causing them to overeat and become obese. This ingredient can make low-quality food taste better than it really is. 8. Phosphate This stimulant can contribute to arterial calcification, especially if you don’t have enough vitamin K2. 9. Potassium bromate This ingredient is a bread conditioner and is classified as a probable carcinogen. 10. Synthetic flavoring The ingredient “flavoring” consists of hundreds of chemicals used to manipulate your sense of taste. Chronic consumption of artificial flavors can dull your appetite for real food. Thanks for watching! I hope you’ll avoid these dangerous food ingredients. I’ll see you in the next video. --- Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Folic Acid vs. Folate Explained and Broken Down

Get access to my FREE resources 👉 https://drbrg.co/3Qe09jg Watch this episode next: Reset Your Body in 5 Days (With Zero Food) Just so you know, my full line of high-quality supplements is available on Amazon — search Dr. Berg Supplements. Folic acid vs. folate—which should you be taking? Find out! DATA: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2790187 https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/23125102/ https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4341306/ https://www.hindawi.com/journals/crinm/2013/159649/ 0:00 Folic acid explained 0:10 Folic acid and pregnancy 1:30 How much vitamin B9 do you need? 2:25 The solution 3:32 Folic acid vs. folate 4:15 How to avoid synthetic folic acid 4:45 The best sources of folate 4:55 Folic acid and vitamin B12 5:53 Learn more about vitamin B12! Today I’m going to cover folic acid and folate. Are they the same? No, they’re not—and we’re going to talk about why. Folic acid is the synthetic version of vitamin B9, and folate is the natural version. Many pregnant women take a supplement that contains folic acid because data shows that it can help prevent neural tube defects. But many people are finding that they have a genetic mutation related to B9, which means there could be a problem if they take folic acid. This genetic mutation involves an enzyme responsible for converting folic acid into an active form so your body can use it. People with this mutation need more vitamin B9 than usual, but it’s also important that they don’t have too much. For example, one of the top benefits of vitamin B9 is that it protects against the initiation of cancer. However, excess vitamin B9 is also involved in the initiation of new cancer cells. The solution is to take a version of vitamin B9 that doesn’t require an enzyme to be converted—making this genetic mutation not a problem anymore. What we need is more methylfolate. Methylfolate is a type of vitamin B9 that’s easily absorbed and doesn’t require other enzyme reactions like synthetic folic acid does. Overall, it’s essential to avoid products that contain folic acid and consume more foods that contain natural folate. The best source of natural B9 is dark leafy green vegetables. Skin tags are a metabolic problem, not a skin problem. They’re associated with high insulin and elevated insulin-like growth factor 1. Skin tags often appear on the neck, under the arms, and in skin folds due to a combination of insulin-like growth factor and friction in these areas. For topical skin tag removal, apply a drop of iodine and cover the skin tag with a bandage twice a day. To prevent skin tags from returning, it’s essential to address the underlying cause by lowering insulin. Reducing eating frequency and lowering your carbohydrate intake can help address one of the most common skin tag causes and keep them from coming back. The True Reason Men Die Before Women

Why do men die earlier than women? In this video, I’ll uncover the truth about the gender life expectancy gap. Don’t worry, I’ll also share 8 ways to increase life expectancy for men and women, along with the longevity risk factors to avoid. Watch this episode next: Reset Your Body in 5 Days (With Zero Food) 0:00 Introduction: Life expectancy: Men vs. women 0:12 Male mortality rate speculation 0:34 Longevity genes 1:55 How to live longer for men and women 3:59 Diet and exercise for increased life expectancy 5:28 Factors that increase mortality rates Did you know that men die an average of 6 years earlier than women? Some people blame the gender life expectancy gap on men being involved with more hazardous work, having fewer doctor visits, smoking more, or consuming more alcohol. Men often experience more heart attacks and strokes than their female counterparts. Autoimmune diseases are more common in women, but they don’t typically die from these conditions. A specific longevity gene called FOXO3 plays a major role in your life expectancy. Women express this gene more than men because the gene is activated by estrogen. Fortunately, estrogen is not the only thing that activates your longevity genes! FOXO3 helps prevent cancer and helps with gene repair. It’s a stress-resistant gene that allows you to adapt to your environment. Nature prioritizes reproduction and fertility, so women often express longevity genes more than men. There are many ways to increase the FOXO3 gene to increase life expectancy for both men and women! 1. Consume phytonutrients (astaxanthin, sulforaphane, EGCG, resveratrol) 2. Cold and heat (cold baths or saunas) 3. Intermittent fasting 4. Ketones 5. Exercise 6. Prolonged fasting for 48 hours or more 7. Controlled oxidative stress (hypoxia training) 8. Sunlight The following factors can decrease FOXO3 and shorten your life expectancy: 1. Too much insulin 2. Chronic inflammation 3. Chronic stress 4. Overfeeding 5. Sedentary lifestyle 6. Heavy metals (i.e., aluminum, mercury) 7. EMF 8. Endocrine disruptors --- Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Viral Health Tips You Need to CEASE Now

How can you distinguish between actual health hacks and fake health trends? In this video, I’m going to tell you about ten health hacks that don’t work and often cause more harm than good. Avoid these health hacks to save your health and your wallet! Watch this episode next: Reset Your Body in 5 Days (With Zero Food) 0:00 Introduction: Health hacks debunked 0:17 Ear candling 1:10 Gallbladder flush 2:36 The master cleanse 3:27 Foot detox pads 4:16 Foot detox bath 5:26 Ab belts 6:20 The blood type diet 7:18 EMF blockers 7:56 Carb blockers 9:12 Psychiatric medication 1. Ear candling This treatment has been debunked by a doctor of audiology! There is absolutely no difference in ear wax before and after ear candling. 2. Gallbladder flush This almost killed me! A gallbladder flush involves drinking 12 ounces of olive oil followed by beet tablets to eliminate gallstones. This really eliminates bile, causing you to become deficient. TUDCA is a much better remedy to help prevent and eliminate gallstones and bile sludge. 3. The master cleanse This cleanse combines lemon juice, cayenne pepper, and maple syrup, which won’t cleanse your body but will mess with your blood sugar. 4. Foot detox pads You can not pull toxins and heavy metals out of your feet as there are no detox pathways through the skin. 5. Foot detox bath Similar to foot detox pads, a chemical reaction changes the water's color during a foot detox bath, leading you to believe it’s pulling toxins out of your body. 6. Ab belts Stimulating the stomach muscles or sweating will not remove fat from your midsection. Visceral fat must be removed through diet and exercise. 7. The blood type diet This diet is not supported by credible research. Blood types relate more to an immune difference rather than a digestive difference. 8. EMF blockers A sticker on your cell phone can not block the EMF radiation it omits. 9. Carb blockers Carb blockers contain an extract that can inhibit the digestion of a minimal amount of starch, not sugar. You would need to take several bottles to inhibit the digestion of the starch from one donut. 10. Psychiatric medication The effectiveness of psychiatric medication can be comparable to placebo outcomes. They may also come with serious side effects and can be highly addictive. Thanks for watching! I hope this increases your awareness about health hacks to avoid. I’ll see you in the next video. --- Learn more about your ad choices. The Corrupt Food Industry Lurking In Your Child's School Lunch

Over 70% of your child’s diet comes from ultra-processed foods. Refined sugars, starches, and seed oils are destroying their brains. Watch this fascinating interview with Hilary Boynton, founder of School of Lunch, who aims to halt this junk food epidemic. Watch this episode next: Reset Your Body in 5 Days (With Zero Food) 0:00 Introduction: The ultra-processed diet in children 0:36 Welcome, Hilary Boynton 3:38 The benefits of a healthy diet for children 6:06 Hilary’s training program 9:41 Please donate to Hilary’s GoFundMe! 11:02 Food and health, a vicious cycle Hilary Boynton is the founder of the organization School of Lunch. She has developed a training program to teach schools around the country how to create healthy, nourishing meals for our children. Hilary’s family health journey led her to develop School of Lunch. Hilary is a mother of 5 who’s dealt with infertility, eczema, epilepsy, speech delays, cancer, and Alzheimer’s. Hilary’s family moved to California during her husband’s battle against cancer. There, she teamed up with a local school and began working on their lunch program. She started as the snack coordinator, then became the consultant to the lunch lady, and was finally given the keys to the kitchen. Inspired by Dr. Weston A. Price's works, Hilary began exploring the importance of traditional, ancestral foods and our health. She familiarized herself with the gut-brain and gut-body connection. After implementing these dietary changes, kids no longer felt the ups and downs of their energy and mood throughout the school day. Kids and their teachers, who followed the same diet, were satiated and energized throughout the day. These benefits trickled into the children’s home lives, encouraging parents to join in after seeing the visible improvements. Hilary realized that more schools needed this information. Improving their food could greatly benefit schools, hospitals, churches, community centers, and more. If you’re able, please donate to Hilary’s amazing cause! Doctors do not factor in food when treating chronic illnesses caused by an ultra-processed diet. Hilary’s program aims to turn this vicious cycle around not by simply changing the diet but by empowering children to understand the power of food. We Ought to Eat Bugs & Insects to Save the Planet - Dr. Berg

Get access to my FREE resources 👉 https://drbrg.co/3xDWSmR Watch this episode next: Reset Your Body in 5 Days (With Zero Food) Just so you know, my full line of high-quality supplements is available on Amazon — search Dr. Berg Supplements. Are insects the sustainable food source of the future? Find out if eating bugs will save the planet. 0:00 Introduction: Should we eat bugs? 0:47 Are bugs a good alternative protein source? 2:11 Bugs vs. beef 2:35 Insects and pathogens 4:12 Check out my video on what you SHOULD be eating for your health! In this video, we’re going to take a look at edible bugs as an alternative protein source. Some say that we should be eating bugs by 2050 because of the growing population. Some blame climate change or claim that beef is not sustainable and that we need to find other sources of food. One hundred grams of bugs contains about 12 grams of protein, 5 grams of fat, and 5 grams of carbs. If we were to eat insects as food, we’d need to eat 4x to 8x this amount to get enough protein! It could become quite expensive to consume this many bugs each day. The cost of edible insects could be lowered by lowering the quality of what they’re fed, but then the bugs will be less nutritious with less protein. Eating insects would also require people to give up their cultural and traditional foods which is not likely. When you compare bugs to beef, insects do not come close in terms of protein or nutritional value. Insects also carry pathogens. A 2019 study evaluated several cricket farms that were developing edible insects. Around 81% of the crickets had parasites and 30% were potentially pathogenic. There's also a higher incidence of worms, viruses, bacteria, and fungus in crickets. If you have an allergy to shellfish, you may also have an allergy to edible insects because they contain a similar protein. Bugs have an exoskeleton mainly composed of chitin which is an antinutrient and can not be digested by our microbiome. Chitin also blocks vitamins A and E. #keto #ketodiet #weightloss #ketolifestyle Thanks for watching! I hope this increases your awareness about the reality of eating insects. I’ll see you in the next video. Dr. Eric Berg DC Bio: Dr. Berg, age 59, is a chiropractor who specializes in Healthy Ketosis & Intermittent Fasting. VITAMIN D IS HAZARDOUS

What happens if you take too much vitamin D? In this video, we’ll discuss the vitamin D dangers you should know about. Learn how to avoid vitamin D side effects, which are very different from vitamin D toxicity. Watch this episode next: Reset Your Body in 5 Days (With Zero Food) 0:00 Introduction: Vitamin D dangers 0:10 Understanding vitamin D toxicity 1:10 Vitamin D and magnesium 1:53 Zinc and vitamin D 2:20 Vitamin K2 and vitamin D 2:33 Vitamin D and vitamin A 3:11 Vitamin D supplements 4:12 Food sources of magnesium 4:48 Zinc and vitamin K2 DATA: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/3627603/ https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles... Vitamin D needs magnesium to function properly in the body. The more vitamin D you take, the more magnesium you need. Magnesium prevents vascular calcification, the main problem associated with vitamin D toxicity. The vitamin D receptor is dependent on zinc. Like magnesium, your zinc requirements increase when you take vitamin D. Zinc deficiency symptoms include an altered sense of taste and smell, acne, flaky skin, and lowered testosterone. When you increase your vitamin D intake, you’ll need more vitamin K2. Vitamin K2 helps prevent the buildup of calcium and also helps to drive calcium into the bones and teeth. The active form of vitamin A, called retinol, is also an important cofactor for vitamin D. Vitamin A receptors sometimes bind with vitamin D receptors as a complex. Vitamin A also helps keep calcium out of your arteries. Always take vitamin D3, not D2. Vitamin D2 is less potent and is typically synthetic. Avoid synthetic vitamin D3 supplements and supplements with fillers such as maltodextrin or glucose syrup. Leafy greens, chocolate, certain nuts, and pumpkin seeds are the best food sources of magnesium. When choosing a supplement, look for magnesium glycinate. The best food sources of zinc are red meat and shellfish. If you take a zinc supplement, consume it in a blend with other trace minerals. For every 10,000 IU of vitamin D3 that you take, you’ll need 100 mcg of vitamin K2. MK7 is the best form. Vitamin K2 is found in high-quality grass-fed butter, kimchi, sauerkraut, grass-fed beef, and eggs. When using high doses of vitamin D, always check with your doctor. High doses of vitamin D can increase blood/urine calcium levels resulting in calcium deposits in the kidney. Also drink 2.5 liters of fluids per day, take cofactors with vitamin D (magnesium, K2 and zinc) and have your doctor monitor your PTH, vitamin D blood levels and creatinine and avoid excess calcium supplements of high calcium foods when taking vitamin D levels over 10,000 IUs. It’s best to get your vitamin A from food. Egg yolks, liver, and cod liver oil are the best sources. Today, we're going to talk about the principles of exercise. Understanding these principles will help keep you from getting locked into a specific routine or wasting your time with certain workouts. Exercise comes down to two different types, anaerobic and aerobic. Understanding these two types of exercise will give you the ability to adjust your workout to your needs and maximize your results. Anaerobic exercise: Without oxygen Duration: short Intensity: high Recovery: long Frequency: less often Goal: increasing muscle growth, strength, and speed Aerobic exercise: With oxygen Duration: long Intensity: low Recovery: short Frequency: more often Goal: endurance You'll see the most benefits if you do both anaerobic and aerobic exercises. This combination will help you maintain your muscles and endurance. If you build up to doing the high-intensity workout required for anaerobic exercise—you only need to do the workout one to two times per week. A good example of a high-intensity workout is high-intensity interval training or HIIT. On the other days of the week, you need to recover or try aerobic exercise. You can do aerobic exercise three to seven days a week. Dr. Eric Berg DC Bio: Dr. Berg, age 57, is a chiropractor who specializes in Healthy Ketosis & Intermittent Fasting. Today we're going to talk about the absolute worst food for the heart: trans fats. While sugar is bad for the heart, trans fats are even worse. In 2015, the FDA no longer classified trans fats as safe. Consuming trans fats increases the risk of several serious health issues, including: • Heart attack • Stroke • Type 2 diabetes • Cancer • Increased LDL • Decreased HDL • Inflammation • Autoimmune diseases • Infertility • Tendon and bone degeneration Partially hydrogenated oils contain trans fats, but products that contain either partially hydrogenated or hydrogenated fats should be avoided to help protect against heart disease and other health problems. It turns out that animal feed still contains trans fats. This means that you could consume trans fats indirectly by consuming animals fed trans fats. Restaurants also commonly serve foods containing trans fats. There's even a loophole that allows half of a gram of trans fats in one serving size to claim that a product has zero trans fats. Overall, it's crucial to read food labels and be aware of what you're eating, especially at restaurants.
