What Dogs Can Teach Us About Human Nutrition S3E67

What if we’ve forgotten how to feed ourselves- and our dogs? You may have heard the expression, “Dogs are people, too”. In this enlightening episode of the Carnivore Evolution podcast, Mark talks with Tina, a dog nutrition enthusiast in Ireland, whose Carnivore journey began in an unexpected way: by observing what happened when her guide dog started eating an animal-based diet. Tina shares how her golden retriever Paris’ weight, coat, energy, and overall condition improved after she moved away from conventional pet food, and how those observations eventually led her to rethink her own diet. From being vegetarian for nearly a decade, and struggling with sugar and processed foods, Tina explains her gradual transition toward Carnivore, the challenges of giving up addictive foods, and why social situations can make dietary change so difficult. The conversation also explores the striking parallels between human and canine nutrition, conventional pet food, seed/plant oils, processed foods, cravings, obesity, fasting, and the growing reliance on weight-loss medications. The big question: If animals instinctively know what their species is designed to eat, why have humans become so confused about food? Tina also shares practical thoughts on transitioning dogs toward raw, animal-based nutrition and why changing the food may be more important than simply adding another supplement. Hormones & the Menopause Metabolism S3E66

What if menopause isn’t about eating less and exercising more, but about giving your body the right tools to thrive? In this powerful episode, Mark and Victoria talk with Nutrition Network Practitioner, Personal Training and Fitness Instructor Claire Grant, a menopause metabolism specialist in England with 20+ years of experience supporting women. Claire runs a successful free 12-week online programme, The Menopause Metabolic Method, through the NHS in England, that she has designed to guide women on how to relieve their uncomfortable menopausal changes, which includes nutrition advice, hormone balancing, behavioral modification, and exercise instruction, among other helpful modalities. Please note the absence of HRT with successful outcomes Claire also consults privately as a therapist providing physical and emotional pain relief through the Emmett, Bowen and ScarWork soft tissue techniques, and Tapping/EFT. We dive deeply into menopause, hormones, protein and fat, metabolic health, strength training, stress, cravings, sustainable nutrition, and Claire’s personal transformative journey into Carnivore. Claire shares her Hashimoto’s experience, and how switching to a Carnivore-style approach transformed her health, energy, and hormones for the better, even after 20+ years in complementary medicine. We dig into: 🥩 Why fat isn’t the enemy - it’s the building block of your hormones 🩸 How insulin (not calories) drives weight gain 💪 Why strength training is non-negotiable for women over 40 🧠 The real reason “food noise” and cravings spiral out of control ❤️ Why chasing weight loss without addressing root causes leaves women worse off From breaking the cycle of calorie restriction, to rebuilding strength and confidence, this conversation challenges conventional menopause care approaches, and explores what women actually need during midlife. 🔥 A must-watch for any woman navigating menopause - or any person supporting one. 📍CONNECT WITH CLAIRE: 🌐 Website: Claire Grant Women’s Health http://clairegrantwomenshealth.com 📸 Instagram: @claireloisgrant 📘 Facebook: Claire Grant https://www.facebook.com/share/1DTKUiR3tu/?mibextid=wwXIfr 📍CONNECT WITH CARNIVORE EVOLUTION: -Mark Ennis, health and fitness coach ennismark93@gmail.com, and on both Instagram and YouTube @fitnessbeyondtime01 and @carnivoreevolution2024 -Victoria Olson, health coach and author of ‘Troubleshooting Your Carnivore Diet’ on Amazon https://a.co/d/00WnRF0I , can be reached at carnivoreevolution2024@gmail.com And on Facebook in the group: Carnivore Diet After Age 40. His Carnivore Transition Continues S3E65

At his heaviest Anthony Savage weighed 668 pounds/303 kg. He survived a nearly fatal bout of COVID that packed on seventy pounds in weeks, then had a workplace fall that left him learning to walk again. No dieting stuck until June 2025, when a nine-day Carnivore challenge with a friend turned into a total transformation. Fourteen months later he’s lost 162.5 pounds/74 kg, and lost the pain and brain fog, and he’s playing pickleball, and sprinting on hikes he used to dread. In this episode Anthony sits down with Victoria & Mark to talk about ditching Ozempic after an allergic reaction, the accidental discovery of a pituitary microadenoma (benign tumor) behind his hormone struggles, why he skipped testosterone replacement to protect his fertility, and how raising his fat intake changed everything. Anthony gets real about a 40-day water fast he cut short at day 14, the loose skin that tightened up during it, and that his doctor still won’t recommend Carnivore to other patients, even after seeing all of Anthony’s great results firsthand. While Anthony is still on his weight loss journey, one can feel his great Carnivore vitality and hope right through this recording. There is so much more to know about his transformation. His story now is also about healing beyond the scale. Weight loss, yes, but also inflammation gone, energy and sleep restored, and a testosterone count climbing back toward normal from barely registering, all without medication. It’s a Lifetime Way of Eating S3E64

In this episode of Carnivore Evolution, Mark and Victoria take on the trending ideas that carbs are a useful “diet tool,” necessary for appetite, muscle growth, metabolic flexibility, or long term health. They make the case for Carnivore as more than a temporary tool, but a lifelong way of eating. Topics include fat adaptation, cravings, hunger, ketosis, muscle building, visceral fat, ‘insulin resistance’, and the challenges of moving away from carbohydrates. They dig into why some people struggle to become fully fat adapted and how that shift changes everything about hunger and energy, why carb cravings are addiction signals dressed up as biological need, and why “metabolically flexible” gets misused to justify reintroducing sugar. Sleep, stress, training/workouts, and food choices all play a role in hunger too, and the two talk through why patience and consistency matter most when making a change this big. Above all, they encourage doing your own research, understanding your individual response to food, and not giving up when conventional approaches have not worked. Carbs may make you feel better. But what are you feeding? Carnivore Got Her Off Her Cane, Too S3E63

Kim lost 125 pounds/56.6kg, put her POTS* diagnosis into remission, and stepped on a bodybuilding stage after doctors told her she'd need surgery to lose any weight. In this episode of Carnivore Evolution, Kim shares her journey from being 250 pounds/113.3kg and bedridden with POTS* to competing in her first physique show. *POTS is Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome. It affects the autonomic nervous system, which controls automatic functions like heart rate and blood pressure. When a person with POTS stands up, their heart rate jumps fast, usually by 30 beats per minute or more, causing dizziness, fatigue, and a racing heart. Kim lives with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS), a connective tissue disorder that brought on POTS, lymphedema, alopecia areata, and years of doctors telling her what she could not do. Carnivore and heavy strength training changed all of that. What we cover: - Going from keto to Carnivore after a total hysterectomy and a brutal bout of long COVID - Getting off her cane and reversing POTS within six months of starting Carnivore - How EDS changes her approach to training (no warmups, straight to heavy, time under tension over rep counting) - Training to true failure instead of chasing volume, that's driven more growth in less time - Prepping for the ‘Slim to Fit Transformation Show’ and her next goal in the Wellness division - Why she won't take GLP-1 shortcuts, and what she'd tell someone considering gastric surgery - Her GoFundMe for a tummy tuck to resolve recurring belly button infections from excess skin A term Kim uses, deload means is a planned, temporary reduction in exercise intensity or volume. It allows your muscles, joints, and nervous system to recover from accumulated fatigue so you can avoid injuries and keep making long-term strength or fitness gains. Kim doesn’t feel the need to do that because of her lifting approach. Kim isn't a coach. She calls herself a cheerleader for anyone who needs one. If her story resonates with you, support her GoFundMe (linked in her Instagram bio) and give her a Follow. He Won Health & Food Freedom

From a standard American diet of Wonder Bread and margarine to a 40 pound transformation and boundless energy behind the wheel, Scott’s carnivore journey is a masterclass in what happens when you finally stop fighting your biology. As a long haul and local delivery truck driver, Scott spent decades chasing the “eat less, move more” advice that never worked, until three and a half years of research led him to Dr. Sean Baker, Dr. Anthony Chaffee, and a species appropriate way of eating that changed everything. In this episode, Scott opens up about his fasting for deep healing, why he no longer battles food noise, and the hard conversations he’s having with his own family, including his 82 year old dad who’s ready to try carnivore again. Scott also shares his day to day eating, from beef tongue chips to a frequent inclusion of organ meat. This is a raw, honest, no filter conversation about addiction, satiation, and what it really means to eat like the apex predator we were born to be. Sarah is a Carnivore fitness nutritionist specializing in hormones and metabolism. She’s built a practice helping clients lose weight and specializing in actually keep it off. A Dietitian Who Gets It | Metabolic Health with Kelly McCullough S3E60

We talk with Kelly McCullough, registered dietitian, nutritionist, public speaker and health coach Kelly McCullough of Focus Forward Nutrition joins the show to talk metabolic health, root causes over symptoms, and what’s really happening with GLP-1 medications. After 35+ years in clinical practice and her own health turnaround (50 pounds down in five months after a scary lab result), Kelly shares why “normal” blood markers don’t always mean healthy, and how mindset drives lasting change. Kelly’s approach isn’t strictly ketogenic or Carnivore, but her focus on protein, non-starchy vegetables, and steady blood sugar lines up with a lot of what we talk about on this show. It’s a great lively conversation about how conventional nutrition guidance and metabolic health advocacy can actually meet in the middle. Stop chasing symptoms and find the root cause. From competitive bodybuilder to taking TRT at 22, to nearly 100% Carnivore, Monte’s story is one you need to hear. In this episode, Monte shares his journey through bodybuilding, depression, high-volume training, and TRT - and what finally made him realize his diet and training were working against him. We get into why so many young men turn to TRT before fixing the basics, what happens when you don’t eat enough fat, why modern bodybuilding looks so different from Arnold’s era, and how Monte went from training seven days a week to just three, while building more strength and muscle. The Carnivore Fountain of Youth S3E55

What happens when a woman stops fearing fat, stops obsessing over the scale, and starts listening to how her body actually feels? Meet Lydia, aka Carnivore.Bod, a British women’s Carnivore coach who’s been thriving on Carnivore for three years. Inspired initially by Dr. Anthony Chaffee, Lydia went Carnivore cold turkey and never looked back. Today, she leads a growing Carnivore community, with 2,000+ members in her UK-only private Facebook group, Strong Carnivore Women 🇬🇧, and more than 12,000 followers on her Carnivore.Bod Facebook page, and 23,000 on Instagram. Lydia’s message is refreshingly simple: How do you feel? Not just, What does the scale say? She’s a passionate advocate for eating animal fat, especially for women who have spent years hearing low-fat eating is The Answer. She believes Carnivore is about far more than weight loss, it is about strength, vitality, confidence, and reclaiming your health. Lydia also believes that finding your Carnivore community matters. From her Page and women’s group, to Carnivore retreats led by Dr. Sarah Pugh, she’s actively building real connections within our growing movement. She has lead the way by hosting a Carnivore Great Britain Meat Up on her farm property, bringing together many prominent voices including Eddie Abbew, Dr. Abs, Jonathan Griffiths, Sarah Pugh and others, with more events planned. She also shares her practical approach through her “How To” Carnivore Guide, designed to help people navigate their own Carnivore journey. And Lydia has a bold perspective on what Carnivore can mean for women: “The Fountain of Youth.” For Lydia, there is no ‘carb return’. In this conversation, Lydia shares her journey, her philosophy, her advice for women considering Carnivore, why animal fat deserves a place on the plate, and why community may be one of the most important ingredients for long-term Carnivore success. If you’re a woman (or a man) considering Carnivore, or struggling to make it work, you’ll want to hear what Lydia has to say. Until He Got His Life Back With Carnivore

Rahim Nazarali has been visually impaired since birth, but that never stopped him from becoming a world-class judo athlete, winning international championships twice, graduating from university, building a professional career, running a marathon, competing in a triathlon, and embracing outdoor adventures. Then rheumatoid arthritis changed everything. Years of debilitating inflammation, 15 rounds of antibiotics and immunosuppressants, and the devastating stress of serious illness in both parent, and his father’s passing, took a heavy physical and emotional toll. Then Rahim discovered keto, followed by Carnivore. The results were life-changing: his arthritis pain eased, related infections subsided, and he was able to refuse potentially risky medication, and reclaim the active life he loved. This is a remarkable story of resilience, transformation, and refusing to let illness define your life. Leading the Metabolic Health Revolution S3E54

We are grateful for this fascinating conversation with, Dr. Robert Cywes, aka “The Carb Addiction Doc, as he explains how and why he embraced the concept of carbohydrate addiction long before it entered mainstream discussion. Though Dr. Cywes supports and prescribes ketogenic principles, he posits that carbs aren’t inherently the enemy, but that humans have a broken relationship with them, and our chronically excessive consumption of them causes us harm. He also shares what he’s discovering through CCTA (coronary computed tomography angiography) imaging and Cleerly AI plaque analyses, as he investigates the relationship between low-carb diets and arterial plaque creation, with early trends pointing toward potential benefits for heart health. When asked whether his research will become a peer-reviewed paper, Dr. Cywes has a surprising answer: he’s doing something more impactful. He’s working to help rewrite the Society of Metabolic Health Practitioners’ cardiac assessment guidelines. We also discuss his opinion on the current and forthcoming GLP medications and how they work. He selectively uses very-low-dose GLP-1 medications in some patients. He tells why, and also why a ketogenic approach remains the foundation of his treatment, and one he says he would never abandon for himself, nor use a GLP-1. There’s a lot more information packed into this interview. Dr Cywes is very generous with his time and information. I could listen to him impart wisdom all day. NOTES Re the Angelina Jolie gene Angelina Jolie carries a mutation in the BRCA1 gene, which significantly raised her lifetime risks of developing breast cancer (estimated at 87%) and ovarian cancer (estimated at 50%). In 2013 she had a preventive double mastectomy to lower her breast cancer risk to under 5%. In 2015, she had her ovaries and fallopian tubes removed, as a preventive step against ovarian cancer, which had previously caused her mother's death. A CCTA with FFR is Coronary Computed Tomography Angiography with Fractional Flow Reserve, a non-invasive heart test. It combines a detailed 3D CT scan of your heart arteries with advanced computer analysis. This test shows both the structure of your blood vessels and how well blood flows past any blockages. This is Even More Dangerous | GLP-1s Go Underground S3E53

This conversation was inspired by a recent video of a teenaged US “diet coach” suggesting illegal use, as well as dosage, of retatrutide, while offering a means to acquire it on the gray market. Retatrutide is currently illegal to acquire in the US and Canada. Its expected release, upon approval by the FDA in the US, is late 2027 or early 2028. Retatrutide is a “stacked” GLP-1, meaning it activates three hormone receptors. These are: * GLP-1 (Glucagon-like peptide-1): Lowers blood sugar, slows stomach emptying, and signals fullness to the brain. * GIP (Glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide): Stimulates insulin release and works with GLP-1 to improve metabolic function. * Glucagon (GCG): Stimulates energy expenditure and helps the body break down stored fat and liver fat. Retatrutide has been observed to reduce weight by as much as 28% within a 52-week period, the speed of which can only assume muscle and bone loss. Coach Tony Stewart has been helping clients who have unsuccessfully taken, or come off of, single-activator (agonist) GLP-1s. Tony walks us through the many hurdles GLP-1s present, and explains the potentially negative impact of retatrutide, which is still being studied. Retatrutide is a bundle of “unknowns,” especially when taken without medical supervision, a nutrition education program, or exercise for muscle preservation, and worst of all, when purchased on the gray market, where the ingredients are unknown. Notes from Tony on info given in the video: * Longest randomized semaglutide trial: ~4 years * Participants: 17,604 * Stopped because of side effects: * Semaglutide: 16.6% * Placebo: 8.2% * Main reason for stopping: Gastrointestinal side effects (especially nausea and diarrhea) * Total deaths: * Semaglutide: 375 (4.3%) * Placebo: 458 (5.2%) Of those - 16% had Serious adverse events of which 33.4% were Semaglutide and 36.4% were Placebo. The semaglutide group experienced fewer serious adverse events overall, largely because they had fewer major cardiovascular events…the primary outcome the study was designed to assess. BEYOND TALK THERAPY | Mental Health Starts on Your Plate S3E52

Beyond Talk Therapy: How Carnivore is Reshaping Mental Health Treatment, with Gracie. In this episode, we talk with Gracie, a graduate student and intern finishing her counseling degree, who’s exploring what happens when you bring nutrition into the therapy room. Gracie makes the case that diet deserves a real seat at the table alongside talk therapy and medication when it comes to treating emotional distress and psychological disorders, not as a replacement, but as a piece that’s too often left out. Gracie has followed a Carnivore diet for several years, and so has her mother. Gracie shares what she’s personally witnessed in both of their personalities since making the switch, and why that experience shaped her interest in the connection between food and mental health. We cover a lot of issues, and she also talks about Bitten Johnson’s work on sugar addiction, and how it intersects with emotional regulation, plus how somatic therapy and breathwork alongside dietary change. Gracie closes with real talk for anyone struggling right now: change is hard to do alone, so find your people. Whether that’s a spouse, a friend, or an online community, having support in your corner makes all the difference when you’re rebuilding your relationship with food and yourself. From 95 kg to Freedom: Meriam’s Carnivore Transformation S3E50

Meriam started at 95 kg (209 lbs) and lost 37 kg (about 82 lbs) in just seven months on Carnivore. But the numbers on the scale are only part of her story. In this conversation, Meriam shares how the bloating disappeared almost immediately, her chronic wrist pain vanished, and her facial acne cleared up for the first time in years. She talks about the mental shift too: she’s happier, more calm, with more emotional stability, real energy, and improved sleep. Meriam began on the stricter Lion Diet (beef, lamb, salt, and water) before adding eggs, butter, and fish to support her hormones, after her menstrual cycle got thrown off. She eats one meal a day (OMAD), and says it’s the most sustainable approach she’s found. Now Meriam is paying it all forward by moderating a Dutch carnivore Facebook community, and creating over 300 videos to help others start their own journey, even as Dutch media stays skeptical of the diet, and advertising bans public meat and beef advertisements in several cities. Meriam has helped instigate organization of the Dutch Meatup, slated for 20 September 2026 in lovely Boxtel, a semirural town in southern surrounded by protected nature. If you’re curious what Carnivore looks like from the Netherlands, this one’s for you.
