Two $100M+ Operators Get Honest About Launching New Brands

“There’s so much that I took for granted. It’s such a different playbook.” What happens when two operators who’ve helped build nine-figure brands start again at zero? Connor MacDonald (CMO, Ridge) and Cody Plofker (advisor and former CEO, Jones Road) compare notes on two new launches: Ridge’s Gut Culture and Cody’s Winks. They get into six hard lessons from the early days. (1) Building with a lean team. (2) Earning credibility when nobody knows the brand. (3) Finding a message that gets clicks. (4) Testing offers before the data is conclusive. (5) Making subscription economics work. (6) Dealing with high ad costs. Cody shares what’s happening at Winks just weeks after launch; Connor explains what Ridge learned from six months of building Gut Culture. Episode 81: How to Make Instagram the Bread and Butter of Your Business

Episode 81: More Than Real Estate Podcast — How to Make Instagram the Bread and Butter of Your Business Anita had 200 followers and a license she was barely using. Eighteen months after taking the course she is full time in Dallas, Instagram is her main lead source, and her own sphere is watching her win. This is the conversation about what happens after the first lead, when most agents have already stopped paying attention. ✨ The number that took eighteen months to build. Anita went from 200 followers to almost 7,700 and from part time to full time in the Dallas market. She is honest that it took her longer than some of her cohort to see closings, and she names why. "Why is this not working for me?" is a question she sat in for months before it clicked. The agents who quit at month four never find out what month eighteen looks like. ✨ She almost quit, and one thing stopped her. A group of women from her cohort kept posting alongside her when nothing was landing yet. Her words: "otherwise I think I would've maybe have quit." Ashley talks about why running a real estate business is lonely, why you cannot hand your strategy to the agent one desk over, and why a group scattered across the country solves a problem your brokerage cannot. ✨ The three phases every agent moves through. Beginner, growth, then set it and forget it. Ashley breaks down what changes at each stage, and clarifies the one people get wrong: set it and forget it does not mean you stop posting. It means you finally know what works. Anita is candid that she still considers herself in the growth phase and posts two times a week minimum, five when she is rebuilding her pipeline. ✨ The sphere you already have and the strangers you don't. Anita expected nothing from her sphere and got the opposite. People who have known her for years now see her as the agent in her area. Ashley walks through both arms of the strategy, the 100 people who already know your name, and the audience that finds you later, and why running only one of them leaves money on the table. ✨ Why she will not hire someone to post for her. Anita started using voiceovers specifically so people know a human made it. "People don't really know what's AI generated and what's not." Ashley goes further: "I'm actually anti-AI for social media, and I'm anti having a social media manager." Hire the transaction coordinator. Hire the popby service. Keep your own voice. About Anita Anita is a full time real estate agent in Dallas proper, licensed six years. She took the Instagram course in early 2025 when she was still working part time and posting almost nothing, and built her entire lead generation strategy on Instagram from there. She is a Socially Sold alum from the original cohorts, back when the program was called Insta Agent. 🎓 Ready to make Instagram your number one lead source? • The Six-Figure Doula: For career birth workers building sustainable, high-income businesses

    116. It’s Never Been Easier to Build a Doula Business- So What’s Stopping You? With Lisa Sykes

This conversation with Lisa Sykes went somewhere I didn’t expect- and honestly, somewhere I needed it to go. Lisa has spent 15 years in the birth world, evolving from an in-person doula into a mentor, educator, entrepreneur and powerful voice for birth workers who refuse to shrink their ambition. But this episode is about so much more than building a doula business. We talk about leaving the life that looks “good enough” when you know there’s something more for you. We talk about why building a business might actually be simpler than we make it—and how fear of being seen, judged, rejected or looking cringe keeps so many incredible doulas invisible. We talk about the instant-gratification culture that has convinced entrepreneurs that something must be wrong when success takes time. We talk about mentorship, taking audacious risks, refusing to stay capped, building a mission big enough that other people’s opinions stop fucking mattering—and why Lisa believes the opportunities available to doulas today are bigger than ever. And then we land somewhere I haven’t stopped thinking about: Gratitude and desire can exist at the same time. You can love the business you’ve built and want to evolve it. You can be deeply present for your family and still be wildly ambitious. You can be proud of how far you’ve come without pretending you’re done becoming. You can be grateful as fuck for this life… and still want more. If you’ve been questioning whether your ambition makes you selfish, wondering whether you should just be satisfied with where you are, or feeling afraid to take up more space in your business- this conversation is for you. Connect with Lisa over on instagram at @lisasykesonline Love being a doula..but tired of unpredictable income? If growing your business still means taking more births, working more overnights, or hoping the next referral comes through, there’s a better way. Imagine consistent private-pay clients, predictable $10K months, and a business that builds wealth for your family without requiring more and more of you. ⬇️ START HERE ⬇️ FREE LIVE MASTERCLASS: The Six Figure Doula Booking Engine FREE 3 Must-Ask Consult Questions to Book Yourself Out Come say hi on IG Learn more about Six Figure Doula

#113: Losing Control at $2.5 Million: What Jeff Rossen's EOS Journey Teaches Every Growing Landscaping Business

Most landscaping business owners hit a wall somewhere around $2.5 million in revenue — and what they do next determines whether the company grows past it or stalls out. Jeff Rossen, owner of Rossen Landscape, hit that wall too. For him, it wasn't a marketing problem or a sales problem. It was a systems problem. In this episode of The Landscaping Growth Script, Katy Doss talks with Jeff Rossen, owner of Rossen Landscape — a high-end residential design-build and maintenance company outside Washington, D.C. — about the moment he realized he couldn't run a growing landscaping business by himself, and how implementing EOS (the Entrepreneurial Operating System) changed everything from hiring to client onboarding. You'll learn: Why $2.5–4 million is the revenue ceiling most landscaping business owners hit when they try to run every part of the company themselves How EOS (the Entrepreneurial Operating System) helped Rossen Landscape build real structure without losing what made the business work in the first place The visionary/integrator split — and why Jeff and his business partner don't run it exactly "by the book" How Rossen turns a first client meeting into a concierge-level experience that wins six-figure landscape design-build projects Why Jeff qualifies every lead before sending a designer to the property — and when he's willing to walk away from a $350,000 job The hiring philosophy Rossen uses to keep scaling: prioritizing adaptability over industry experience If you're a landscaping business owner who feels like you've outgrown your own bandwidth, this conversation is a real blueprint for building the structure to grow past it — without losing the parts of the business you started it for. Next week: Jason Navon, Rossen's integrator, joins the show for the other half of this story — how the systems Jeff describes actually get implemented day to day.
