    Aliens - 1986 (review)

Day 27 in 60 Days of Halloween cleanses the palette of the combined fears week of Child in Peril & Being Powerless/Trapped, the fears of Kevin and Jennifer Sluder (of Sunshine Boy Productions)! While it still has aspects of both child in peril and being trapped, tonight's movie, Aliens, is able to cleanse the palette because it does so in such a fun, action-packed way. While Eric and I both agree Aliens is a really fun, action/sci-fi/horror flick, we have some pretty major disagreements in what might be one of our most enjoyable episodes yet (at least, we had an absolute blast disagreeing with each other)! If you enjoy this episode, check out our previous 60 Days of Halloween episodes and be sure to check back tomorrow for more horror coverage! The analysis episode for Child in Peril & Fear of Being Powerless/Trapped Week is postponed until Saturday. So, tomorrow's episode is a bonus palette cleanser of an awesome film!! The Descent - 2005 (review)

Day 26 in 60 Days of Halloween continues the combined fears week of Child in Peril & Being Powerless/Trapped, the fears of Kevin and Jennifer Sluder (of Sunshine Boy Productions)! Tonight's movie continues Kevin's half of the week and the fear of being powerless/trapped with The Descent - a terrifying movie that goes from tragic, to suspenseful, to heart-pounding, before circling back around to tragic. Eric and I both agree that The Descent is an absolutely amazing horror movie that deserves to be seen by anyone who is a fan of horror!! If you enjoy this episode, check out our previous 60 Days of Halloween episodes and be sure to check back tomorrow as we have a bit of a palette cleanser before diving into the analysis episode for Child in Peril & Fear of Being Powerless/Trapped Week! Silent House - 2011 (review)

Day 25 in 60 Days of Halloween continues the combined fears week of Child in Peril & Being Powerless/Trapped, the fears of Kevin and Jennifer Sluder (of Sunshine Boy Productions)! Tonight's movie continues Kevin's half of the week and the fear of being powerless/trapped with Silent House - a real-time, "single shot" horror movie that borders on home invasion and haunted house. While there are certainly shortcomings on which Eric and I agree, the Chimerican and I had a lot of disagreements on the overall quality of this film! If you enjoy this episode, check out our previous 60 Days of Halloween episode and be sure to check back tomorrow as we continue the Fear of Being Powerless/Trapped portion of the week with The Descent! Hush - 2016 (review)

Day 24 in 60 Days of Halloween continues the combined fears week of Child in Peril & Being Powerless/Trapped, the fears of Kevin and Jennifer Sluder (of Sunshine Boy Productions)! Tonight's movie starts Kevin's half of the week and the fear of being powerless/trapped with Hush - a simple, but solid home invasion film from director Mike Flanagan. This is the second movie from Mike Flanagan in this year's 60 Days of Halloween, the first of which was Before I Wake. And while I had mixed feelings on Before I Wake, Hush is a much more solid film that definitely makes me want to see more of Flanagan's work! If you enjoy this episode, check out our previous 60 Days of Halloween episode and be sure to check back tomorrow as we continue the Fear of Being Powerless/Trapped portion of the week with Silent House! The Shining - 1980 (review)

Day 23 in 60 Days of Halloween continues the combined fears week of Child in Peril & Being Powerless/Trapped, the fears of Kevin and Jennifer Sluder (of Sunshine Boy Productions)! We are still in the Child in Peril portion of the week, but tonight's movie most definitely has overlapping fears with being trapped/powerless. Tonight's movie is, The Shining! If you enjoy this episode, check out our previous 60 Days of Halloween episode and be sure to check back tomorrow as we start the Fear of Being Powerless/Trapped portion of the week with Hush! Cleveland Geekster 2018

A podcaster, a punster, a barber, and a Tim walked into a toy show... Yesterday was the fifth year of the Cleveland Geekster, a one day toy show in Cleveland, TN (put on by Rob Alderman, Ryan Faricelli, and Ashley Raburn) with vendors from across the region selling toys, comics, and memorabilia. It's a great time for anyone looking to get into collecting, looking for a certain piece to complete their collection, or really just anyone who enjoys toys and comics! I've been every year and always have a great time talking pop culture with fellow geeks! Yesterday was no exception as I sat down with Dan Buck, Lucas Brown, and Tim Frady (Jose Minay even joins in for a bit towards the end) and talked about the relationship between toys, comics, and movies. Well...it started out that way at least. Things went off the rails pretty quick and some questionable humor ensued. It was a blast! GargyleReviews.wixsite.com/thegargyle music by bensound.com

    The Host - 2006 (review)

Day 22 in 60 Days of Halloween kicks off a combined fears week of Child in Peril & Being Powerless/Trapped, the fears of Kevin and Jennifer Sluder (of Sunshine Boy Productions)! While there will probably be overlapping of fears within the movies, the first half of the week will focus on Jennifer's fear of Child in Peril. The first movie on her list was Before I Wake. We will still be covering that one in the analysis episode, but since Eric and I had already done a review of that film for his week, tonight's movie is The Host, which actually has elements of all of our fears so far! If you enjoy this episode, check out our previous 60 Days of Halloween episode and be sure to check back tomorrow as we continue the Child in Peril portion of the week with The Shining! Fear of Decapitation Week

Day 21 in 60 Days of Halloween wraps up E.B. Tolbert's Fear of Decapitation Week as Eric and E.B. join me via Skype (my apologies for poorer audio quality than usual) as we dive into our analysis of each film from the week and discuss why each film is so terrifying in its presentation of the fear of decapitation!! Unlike the review episodes, this analysis episode will contain spoilers for each film. Also, we finally get to hear E.B. tell us why decapitation is one of his greatest fears! And after hearing the stories of his past, it totally makes sense! Plus, things get a bit silly... If you enjoy this episode, check out our previous 60 Days of Halloween episodes and be sure to check back tomorrow as we start a week devoted to the fears of Kevin and Jennifer Sluder of Sunshine Boy Productions! We will be starting with Jennifer's fear of a child in peril and then moving on to Kevin's fear of being powerless or trapped! GargyleReviews.wixsite.com/thegargyle music by bensound.com

The Human Centipede: First Sequence - 2009 (review)

Day 20 in 60 Days of Halloween cleanses the palette of Fear of Decapitation Week, the fear of E.B. Tolbert (artist and occasional guest on The Gargyle Podcast). At least, it "cleanses" the palette in the sense that it makes decapitation not seem quite so bad in comparison. It most definitely does not cleanse the cinematic palette. Tonight's movie is The Human Centipede: First Sequence. This movie has a concept that that is quite disturbing in theory, but the movie itself is just boring and dumb. Don't waste your time on it. Instead, spend your time listening to me and Eric go into more detail about why we dislike this movie so much. If you enjoy this episode, check out our previous 60 Days of Halloween episodes and be sure to check back soon (hopefully tomorrow) as we dive into our analysis episode with guest E.B. Tolbert and his Fear of Decapitation Week!! GargyleReviews.wixsite.com/thegargyle music by Bensound.com

    Pieces - 1982 (review)

Day 19 in 60 Days of Halloween continues Fear of Decapitation Week, the fear of E.B. Tolbert (artist and occasional guest on The Gargyle Podcast), with Pieces - a gem of a cult horror film with plenty of boobs, blood, and a bevy of quotable lines that are memorable not only for how unintentionally hilarious they are, but for how they are delivered with such conviction!! I picked this movie up on a whim and I am insanely glad that I did. The movie (and its cover art) are unmistakably a product of their time...and I absolutely love it for that! This episode is a bit longer than our previous reviews, but we go so caught up in how much fun the movie is to watch that we went a bit over our usual time. If you enjoy this episode, check out our previous 60 Days of Halloween episodes and be sure to check back tomorrow as we have a Palette Cleanser before diving into our analysis episode for Fear of Decapitation Week!! Re-Animator - 1985 (review)

Day 18 in 60 Days of Halloween continues Fear of Decapitation Week, the fear of E.B. Tolbert (artist and occasional guest on The Gargyle Podcast), with another one of my favorite horror movies - Re-Animator!! This is one of the movies that I would put on a list of top 100 movies every horror fan should see. So, if you are a fan of horror and have not yet seen Re-Animator, I highly recommend you remedy that soon! If you enjoy this episode, check out our previous 60 Days of Halloween episodes and be sure to check back tomorrow for our review of Pieces as Eric and I continue on in Fear of Decapitation Week!! Sleepy Hollow - 1999 (review)

Day 16 in 60 Days of Halloween continues Fear of Decapitation Week, the fear of E.B. Tolbert (artist and occasional guest on The Gargyle), with Tim Burton's version of Sleepy Hollow! While this version strays quite a bit from Washington Irving's original short story, there is certainly a lot to love!! If you enjoy this episode, check out our previous 60 Days of Halloween episodes and be sure to check back soon (Eric and I are still doing our best to put out daily episodes, but we make no guarantees that we will be able to stay with daily episodes for 60 full days) for the next episode of Fear of Decapitation Week!! Tag - 2015 (review)

Day 15 in 60 Days of Halloween starts Fear of Decapitation Week, the fear of E.B. Tolbert (artist and occasional guest on The Gargyle). We've got some great movies lined up this week and I cannot wait til the analysis episode to get inside E.B.'s head (about the fear of losing his). Starting things off is the 2015 film, Tag! Fear of Death of a Child Week

Day 14 in 60 Days of Halloween wraps up Eric's Fear of Death of a Child Week as Eric and I dive into our analysis of each film from the week (Pet Sematary, Cujo, Before I wake, Hereditary, The Others, and Mom and Dad) and discuss why each film is so terrifying in its presentation of the fear of losing a child!! Unlike the review episodes, this analysis episode will contain spoilers for each film. Also...things get real in our discussion. Like...super real... Mom and Dad - 2017 (review)

Day 13 in 60 Days of Halloween cleanses the palette of Eric's fear of the loss of a loved one (specifically a child) by turning that fear on it's head with Mom and Dad - a dark comedy horror film that takes a concept that is extremely morbid and wraps it up in some Nic Cage zaniness! The Others - 2001 (review)

Day 12 in 60 Days of Halloween, and day 5 of Eric's "what's worse than fear of losing a kid? Fear of being the source of harm to your kid. Sure...let's close the week out that way..." week, is The Others - a movie that doesn't really have any scares, but has some pretty major existential dread!! Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince - 2009 (analysis)

Along with my 60 Days of Halloween coverage, Adam and I have returned to Hogwarts once again in another episode in our coverage of the Harry Potter series!! In tonight's episode, we discuss how Harry and Ginny's relationship is clearly founded on trauma (again), how wizards loooove their titles ("I am Lord Voldemort," "The Half-Blood Prince," "The Chosen One"...), and whether or not internal organs continue to function normally during a petrificus totalis spell. So, grab your liquid luck and start thinking about what you would use for a horcrux if you could split your soul (purely for academic purposes...of course) as Adam and I dive into our analysis of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince!! Hereditary - 2018 (review)

Day 11 in 60 Days of Halloween, and day 4 of Eric's "deflecting it with humor only makes it worse!" week, is Hereditary - a film that Eric and I both agree is incredibly well done and intensely terrifying (though, probably not in the way that you would typically think of a movie being "terrifying")! So, join us as Eric and I discuss what one big issue I have with the movie, why we still absolutely love it (despite the flaw), and learn what Eric's new podcasting name is (for this week, at least)!!
