10 Mistakes That Can Make Your Blood Pressure Reading Too High | Dr. Mandell

Are you checking your blood pressure correctly—or could simple mistakes be making your reading look higher than it really is? In this video, Dr. Alan Mandell explains 10 of the most common blood pressure measurement mistakes people make at home and how to correct them so your numbers are more accurate, consistent, and useful. You’ll learn why it’s important to rest quietly before checking your blood pressure, how the wrong cuff size can affect your results, why the cuff should be placed directly on bare skin, how arm position and body posture can change the reading, why talking during the measurement matters, and why coffee, smoking, vaping, alcohol, exercise, a full bladder, and anxiety can all temporarily influence your numbers. You’ll also learn why relying on only one reading can be misleading and why taking two or three measurements about one minute apart may give you a better picture of your true resting blood pressure. These small corrections can make a major difference, especially for anyone who tracks their blood pressure regularly or feels anxious when seeing the numbers on the monitor. Remember, one isolated reading does not define your health—the pattern over time, measured with the correct technique, is what matters most. Always discuss persistently high or unusually low readings with your healthcare provider, and never change medication based on one home reading without professional guidance. Please share this video with family and friends because there is a good chance someone you care about is making one or more of these mistakes without realizing it. Accurate technique leads to more reliable information, better conversations with your doctor, and greater peace of mind. ********************************* Please share this video with your friends and family. Rub This on Your Hands Before Bed… They’ll Look Years Younger | Dr. Mandell

As we age, the skin on our hands often shows it first. Dryness, wrinkles, dark spots, and uneven texture can make our hands appear older than we feel. This simple at-home remedy using extra virgin olive oil, honey, lemon juice, and sugar works synergistically to moisturize, exfoliate, brighten, and rejuvenate the skin naturally. These ingredients penetrate deep into the skin barrier, support collagen formation, remove dead skin cells, reduce inflammation, and help restore a more youthful appearance. Use this two to three times weekly and you will begin noticing smoother, brighter, healthier-looking hands in just weeks. Why this works so well Extra virgin olive oil is rich in oleic acid and vitamin E, which strengthen the skin barrier and improve hydration. Honey acts as a natural humectant that pulls moisture into the skin while delivering antioxidants. Lemon juice provides vitamin C, which supports collagen and reduces hyperpigmentation. Sugar exfoliates the surface layer of dead skin cells, revealing softer and brighter skin underneath. If you want your hands to look younger naturally without harsh chemicals, this powerful kitchen remedy can make a real difference. 📚 PubMed Research References • “Antioxidant and skin-protective properties of extra virgin olive oil phenols.” PubMed ID: 30098878 • “Honey in dermatology and skin aging. Never Cook Garlic Right After Crushing It… Here’s Why | Dr. Mandell

Garlic is one of the most powerful and widely used foods in the world, but the way you prepare it can make a meaningful difference. When you crush, mince, grate, or finely chop fresh garlic, you break open its plant cells and allow a natural enzyme called alliinase to interact with a sulfur-containing compound called alliin. This reaction helps form allicin, the compound responsible for garlic’s strong aroma and many of the potential health effects scientists continue to study. However, exposing garlic to high heat immediately after chopping may reduce this natural reaction before it has enough time to occur. By crushing your garlic and allowing it to rest for approximately 10 minutes before cooking, you may help preserve more of these beneficial sulfur compounds. In this video, Dr. Alan Mandell explains what happens inside garlic after it is crushed, why waiting before cooking may be helpful, and how garlic may support healthy circulation, blood-vessel function, cholesterol levels, antioxidant protection, immune function, digestion, and the gut microbiome when included as part of a balanced lifestyle. You will also learn the best ways to prepare garlic, why gently cooking it may be preferable to burning it at high temperatures, and how to use it in vegetables, soups, sauces, beans, lentils, hummus, salad dressings, and many other healthy meals. Garlic is not a miracle cure and should never replace medication, medical care, exercise, or a nutritious diet, but this simple kitchen habit costs nothing, takes almost no additional effort, and may help you get more from a food you already use. People with reflux, digestive sensitivity, bleeding disorders, upcoming surgery, or those taking blood-thinning medications should speak with a qualified healthcare professional before consuming unusually large amounts or concentrated garlic supplements. The next time you prepare garlic, remember this simple sequence: crush it, wait approximately 10 minutes, cook it gently, and enjoy it as part of a healthy meal. ********************************* Please share this video with your friends and family. Rub This on Your Heels Before Bed… See What Happens Overnight | Dr. Mandell

Dry, rough, and cracked heels can become uncomfortable, but this simple bedtime routine may help soften and protect the skin while you sleep. In this video, Dr. Alan Mandell explains how applying plain, fragrance-free, purified white petroleum jelly to slightly damp heels and covering them with clean cotton socks can reduce moisture loss and help the skin feel smoother and more flexible by morning. You will also learn why the skin around the heels becomes thick and cracked, how pressure from walking, standing, dry air, unsupported footwear, and aging can contribute, and why consistency is important when the dryness has been present for a long time. Purified skin-grade white petroleum jelly from a reputable manufacturer is highly refined and is very different from unrefined petroleum materials. It works by forming a protective barrier that helps seal existing moisture into the skin rather than adding moisture itself. For additional improvement, gentle use of a pumice stone or foot file after soaking may help remove excess thickened skin, while creams containing urea, lactic acid, salicylic acid, or alpha hydroxy acids may be useful for particularly rough heels. Never cut hardened skin with a razor or sharp instrument, and avoid trapping heavy moisture between the toes. This routine is intended for ordinary dryness and mild cracking. Deep, bleeding, infected, swollen, foul-smelling, or severely painful cracks require professional attention. Anyone with diabetes, neuropathy, poor circulation, or reduced sensation should be especially cautious with foot problems. With only a few minutes of care before bedtime, your heels may feel noticeably softer and more comfortable when you wake up. ********************************* Please share this video with your friends and family. The Vitamin That Helps Keep Calcium Out of Your Arteries | Dr. Mandell

Vitamin K2 has become one of the most talked-about nutrients for supporting healthy aging, strong bones, and cardiovascular health—but what does the science really show? In this video, Dr. Alan Mandell explains how vitamin K2 activates important proteins involved in calcium regulation, helping your body direct calcium to your bones and helping inhibit inappropriate calcium deposits in soft tissues such as your arteries. You'll learn the difference between vitamin K1 and vitamin K2, why vitamin K1 is abundant in leafy green vegetables, and why vitamin K2 is found primarily in fermented foods such as natto, certain aged cheeses, egg yolks, and some animal products. I also explain the two most common supplemental forms of vitamin K2—MK-4 and MK-7—why MK-7 is the form most often chosen for daily supplementation because it remains active in the bloodstream longer, and how to take it for optimal absorption with a meal containing healthy fats. We'll discuss how vitamin D3 and vitamin K2 work together in calcium metabolism, the differences between arterial calcification and cholesterol plaque, who may benefit from increasing K2-rich foods, and when supplementation may be appropriate. Most importantly, you'll learn why no vitamin can replace controlling blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar, inflammation, exercise, and a healthy diet when it comes to protecting your heart and blood vessels. I also cover important safety precautions, including why anyone taking warfarin (Coumadin) or other medications should speak with their healthcare professional before starting vitamin K2 supplements. If you've ever wondered whether vitamin K2 can help support healthier arteries and stronger bones, this evidence-based video will help separate scientific facts from myths so you can make informed decisions about your health. ********************************* Please share this video with your friends and family.
