Not only do people get severely hurt on e-bikes, but a number of people also die from e-bikes. Between 2017-2023, 193 e-bike related deaths were reported in the U.S. These deaths include traffic collisions, private property accidents, and lithium-ion battery fires. California reported over 100 deaths between 2018-203 New York City reported 30 deaths in 2023 Australia reported 4 e-bikes deaths in 2025.
