The Curve

The Curve Platform

The Curve is a platform to learn more about money. To change the stereotype that these conversations are typically boring, and only for men in suits. Victoria has worked in the finance and investing world for 13 years, and Sophie is a total novice. Learn alongside her as she asks all the questions you're thinking, but might feel a little embarrassed to ask. This podcast will give you all the tools and knowledge to achieve financial freedom, as well as (hopefully) having a laugh along the way.

New episodes every Monday and Thursday!

The Country That Just Beat Everyone at Wealth (and Why).

🌟 WATCH THIS EPISODE ON YOUTUBE 🌟 Emily’s back from Europe with a stolen backpack, a £500 fine, and a newly converted love for travel insurance (turns out it isn’t just a scam after all). Meanwhile in the finance world, meme stocks are doing the rounds again - meet the DORKS (yes, that’s what they’re calling them) and why everyone’s suddenly investing in Krispy Kreme, Rocket, and GoPro like it’s TikTok for stocks. We also explore how unusual banking behaviour could be an early sign of dementia, why Starbucks’ CEO is earning 6,000 times more than your local barista (yes, really), and which country officially ranks as the richest in the world right now. Hint: it’s chilly, efficient, and very into recycling. 👉 Sign the petition to support safer online spaces for youth 👉 Chloe Swarbrick ep Leave us a message on The Curve Hotline 💌☎️ For more from The Curve: Investing Club Website Instagram YouTube TikTok Newsletter Disclaimer: Raising The Curve has been prepared solely for informational and educational purposes. Chlöe Swarbrick on Power, Money & the Systems That Divide Us.

We weren’t sure if we should release this episode. Some told us it wasn’t appropriate, others said it was exactly the conversation we need right now. And honestly… both sides make a good point. In this wide-ranging chat with politician Chlöe Swarbrick, we dig into the uncomfortable stuff - dogmatism (we’ll explain, don’t worry), capitalism, inequality, power, and why politics often feels like an exhausting mess. Chlöe breaks down how the systems around us shape everything from the price of electricity to who gets heard (and who doesn’t), and why staying out of politics doesn’t mean politics stays out of your life. This episode doesn’t have all the answers, but it will make you think - and probably text your group chat afterwards. If you’ve ever felt politically lost, financially frustrated, or just sick of the noise... this one’s for you. What It Takes to Buy a House in Your 20s, with Tegan Yorwarth.

Today we are joined by the amazing Tegan Yorwarth - radio host, proud Māori wāhine, and lowkey money mastermind for our second instalment of The Property Podcast - in partnership with BNZ! In this conversation, we spoke to Tegan about how she bought her first house before 30 - while working in one of the most unstable industries out there. We chat about growing up with a scarcity mindset, the thrill (and trauma) of auctions, how she tricks herself into saving, and why she used to send her money to her mum to stop herself spending it (genius). Plus, we cover what it's like being a Māori woman navigating wealth-building, the pros and cons of dating a spender, and why true wealth is... sleeping in on a Monday, not buying a jet ski. Starting, Scaling & Selling a Global Brand with The Caker, Jordan Rondel.

Ever dreamed of turning your passion into a global business? Jordan Rondel did just that - with cake. In this ep, Sophie chats with the legendary founder of The Caker, who started her brand at 21 and baked her way from Auckland to L.A., serving up cakes to the likes of Miley Cyrus and Flea from The Red Hot Chilli Peppers. We get into the highs, the hustle, and the heartbreak - including that time Chrissy Teigen maybe definitely copied her. Jordan spills on what it’s really like scaling a biz internationally, taking massive risks, staying creative and commercially sharp, and eventually selling it all. It’s inspiring, it’s juicy, and it’ll make you want to chase your wildest ideas. This episode is proudly sponsored by BePure - your go-to for immune health this winter. The Aussie Billionaire Trying to Snatch Victoria’s Secret.

She’s back! Soph has returned to the studio - and just in time, because there’s a lot to unpack this week. First up, big changes to KiwiSaver: if you’re earning over $180K in NZ, the government has decided you’re rich enough and doesn’t want to chip in anymore. Cool cool cool. Meanwhile, Vic unpacks the UnitedHealthcare scandal - including CEO assassinations (yes, really), fraud investigations, and share price plummets. Then it’s over to Victoria’s Secret, where one Aussie mogul is sneakily trying to buy his way in, but the board’s not having it (cue poison pill drama). And to round it off, UK inflation’s jumped to 3.5% - so maybe hold off on that second maple bacon pastry. WTF Does That Mean? A Guide to All the Jargony Bits: KiwiSaver – NZ’s retirement savings scheme. Means Testing – Only get it if you earn under a certain amount. Employer Contributions – Free money from your boss. Default Contribution Rate – Auto-set % taken from your pay. High Growth Fund – Risky but could make more. Conservative Fund – Safer, smaller returns. Member Tax Credit – Gov’s yearly top-up if you contribute enough. Auto-enrolment – You're signed up unless you opt out. Poison Pill – A move to stop someone taking over a company. Hostile Takeover – Someone trying to buy a company without permission. Shareholder – You own a slice of the company. ETF – A bundle of investments in one. Leave us a message on The Curve Hotline 💌☎️ For more from The Curve: Investing Club Website Instagram YouTube TikTok Newsletter Disclaimer: Raising The Curve has been prepared solely for informational and educational purposes. Disclaimer: This episode includes discussions around fertility challenges, body image, and eating disorders. Please take care while listening and feel free to pause or skip this one if it’s not right for you right now. This episode is all about the advice we really needed back when we were 20 - before the credit card mistakes, the emotional chaos of dating, and the very expensive dog beds. Vic and Soph get honest about what they’d do differently, from how they approached money, careers, and relationships, to the pressure to look a certain way. There’s talk of comparison traps, pay rise regret, and the financial tip that could save you hundreds of thousands (yes, really). Plus, surprise voice notes from their mums with some brutally honest wisdom. It’s equal parts therapy, roast, and financial intervention. A Tariff Truce, Markets Rebound, and Buffett’s Got a New Favourite.

The US stock market is officially back in its hot girl summer era, and we’re here for it. This week, Vic and Soph break down why markets have jumped nearly 20% (hint: a temporary US-China tariff truce that’s more “situationship” than solid relationship). We also dive into Warren Buffett’s big bets on Japan and why investors are suddenly flocking to the Land of the Rising Sun. Meanwhile, over in pharma land, Novo Nordisk said “thank you, next” to the CEO who tripled their share price (rude), and Foot Locker just sprinted into a buyout deal - sending its stock price up 85% in a day. Whew. It's a week of plot twists in the world of money, but don't worry - we've got all the headlines, hot takes, and healthy skepticism covered. WTF Does That Mean? A Guide to All the Jargony Bits: Tariffs – Taxes on imported stuff. Countries throwing shade. Truce – A temporary pause in the tariff drama. ETF – A bundle of shares in one. Investing made easy. Japanese ETF – Same, but full of Japanese companies. Conglomerate – One giant company owning lots of others. Market Correction – A drop in prices after a high. Stocks chill out. Pharma Stock – A company that makes medicine. CEO Shake-Up – When the boss gets booted. Acquisition – One company buying another. Timing the Market – Trying to buy low, sell high. Good luck. Diversification – Spreading your money around. Safety in numbers. Leave us a message on The Curve Hotline 💌☎️ For more from The Curve: Investing Club Website Instagram YouTube TikTok Newsletter Disclaimer: Raising The Curve has been prepared solely for informational and educational purposes.
