Flatten Your Lower Belly (Without More Exercise) Dr. Mandell

If your lower belly is the last thing to flatten no matter how hard you try, the answer may not be more crunches or more cardio. Lower abdominal fat is hormonally sensitive and responds strongly to insulin and cortisol. When insulin stays elevated too often from constant snacking, refined carbohydrates, sugary drinks, or lack of metabolic breaks between meals, fat burning is suppressed. Lipolysis and high insulin cannot occur at the same time. Add chronic stress and poor sleep, and the body preferentially stores fat in the abdominal region. In this video, we break down the physiology behind stubborn lower belly fat and what actually shifts the hormonal environment. Learn how creating metabolic space between meals, prioritizing protein and soluble fiber, improving sleep quality, supporting the microbiome, and stabilizing stress hormones can help restore metabolic flexibility. When insulin falls and cortisol stabilizes, hormone-sensitive lipase activates, allowing stored fat to be released and used for energy. This is not about extreme dieting. It’s about changing the biological signals your body responds to. Always consult your healthcare professional before making dietary or lifestyle changes. 🔹 PubMed-Style References Boden G. You Won’t Feel This Until It’s Too Late. Heart Disease Starts Silent. / Dr. Mandell

Heart disease remains the leading cause of death worldwide, largely driven by atherosclerosis, LDL oxidation, inflammation, insulin resistance, and endothelial dysfunction. In this video, I explain how specific foods like oats rich in beta-glucans, fatty fish high in omega-3s, extra virgin olive oil, nuts, legumes, berries, leafy greens high in dietary nitrates, and dark chocolate containing flavonoids help reduce LDL cholesterol, lower triglycerides, improve nitric oxide production, enhance endothelial function, and support healthy blood flow. These dietary strategies help reduce plaque progression naturally without medication by improving lipid metabolism, reducing inflammation, and supporting vascular integrity. Lifestyle factors including exercise, sleep, stress reduction, and minimizing refined sugars further improve cholesterol balance and cardiovascular health. Squatting Causes Disc Degeneration Leading to Disk Herniations and Pinched Nerve / Dr Mandell

Discs are composed of fibrocartilage in the annulus fibrosis and a nucleus pulposis in the center. Excessive force and load to these discs causes shearing of the fibers leading to disc degeneration and tearing. During these phases the person is usually asymptomatic until nerve root / pinching occurs in the later phases. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Do This Before Bed for 5 Nights — You Won’t Believe the Difference | Dr. Mandell

Are you going to bed feeling heavy, sluggish, or just not quite right after a long day of eating and stress? Your digestive system works around the clock, especially at night, and when it slows down you may wake up feeling bloated, uncomfortable, or low on energy. In this video, I share a simple five night bedtime drink that supports natural digestive movement, hydration, and regular elimination using ingredients you likely already have at home. This combination of chia seeds, fresh lemon juice, olive oil, and warm water works together to support gut motility, lubrication of the intestinal tract, and healthy fiber expansion. Soak one tablespoon of chia seeds in warm water for 10 to 15 minutes until they form a gel, add the juice of half a lemon and one tablespoon of olive oil, stir well, and drink before bed for five consecutive nights. Chia seeds provide soluble fiber that expands and supports bowel regularity, olive oil helps gently lubricate the intestines, lemon supports digestive activity, and warm water encourages natural movement through the digestive tract. Many people notice improved elimination, reduced bloating, and a lighter, more comfortable feeling within just a few days. Drink plenty of water during the day and focus on whole, unprocessed foods while doing this five night reset, and if digestive discomfort persists, consult your healthcare provider. ********************************* Please share this video with your friends and family. 2 Minutes of Cold Water – Watch What It Does to Your Heart | Dr. Mandell

Could the last 2 minutes of your shower help support your heart and arteries? Cold water exposure triggers powerful physiological responses in the body that may help reduce inflammatory stress, improve vascular tone, and support endothelial function. When you finish your shower with cold water, your blood vessels constrict, then dilate as you warm back up. This vascular “exercise” may enhance circulation and oxygen delivery while stimulating norepinephrine release and activating brown adipose tissue. Chronic inflammation plays a major role in endothelial dysfunction and atherosclerosis. Research suggests that cold exposure may influence inflammatory markers, sympathetic nervous system activity, and metabolic health. While cold showers are not a cure for cardiovascular disease, when combined with healthy nutrition, movement, stress management, and sleep, they may serve as a simple daily tool to support vascular health. Start gradually. Finish your shower with 60 to 120 seconds of cold water and build tolerance over time. Always listen to your body and consult your physician if you have cardiovascular conditions before beginning cold exposure. Make it a great day. Dr. Alan Mandell Selected References: Shevchuk NA. BEWARE Cortisone Shots Destruct Bone, Ligaments and Tendons - Dr Mandell

Corticosteroids, such as cortisone and prednisone, have an adverse effect on bone and soft tissue healing. Corticosteroids inactivate vitamin D, limiting calcium absorption by the gastrointestinal tract, and increasing the urinary excretion of calcium. Bone also shows a decrease in calcium uptake with cortisone use, ultimately leading to weakness at the fibro-osseous junction. Corticosteroids also inhibit the release of Growth Hormone, which further decreases soft tissue and bone repair. Ultimately, corticosteroids lead to a decrease in bone, ligament, and tendon strength. Too Much Mucus? Drink This or Chew It | Dr. Mandell

Most people think mucus is the enemy. It’s not. Mucus protects your respiratory system by trapping dust, allergens, and microbes. The problem begins when mucus becomes thick, sticky, and difficult to clear. When inflammation, dehydration, pollution, or allergies disrupt normal mucociliary clearance, congestion builds up in the sinus, throat, bronchioles, and lungs. In this video, I explain how organic thyme, lemon, and raw honey may help support healthy respiratory function. Thyme contains thymol and carvacrol, compounds shown to exhibit mucolytic, antimicrobial, and anti inflammatory properties. Lemon provides citric acid and antioxidant support that may help stimulate secretions and reduce oxidative stress. Raw honey acts as a natural demulcent, helping soothe irritated mucosal tissue and reduce cough frequency. This combination supports the body’s natural mucociliary clearance system, allowing your respiratory tract to function the way it was designed. Do This Before Coffee to Burn More Belly Fat | Dr. Mandell

If you drink coffee first thing in the morning hoping it helps you burn fat, you may be skipping one of the most powerful metabolic windows of the day. When you wake up, your body naturally releases cortisol to raise blood sugar and mobilize energy. If you add caffeine on top of that surge without using the fuel, you amplify the stress response instead of directing it. In this video, I show you how just five minutes of movement before your first sip of coffee can improve insulin sensitivity, activate muscle driven glucose uptake through GLUT4 transporters, reduce mid-morning crashes, and potentially make fat loss easier. Muscle contraction increases glucose uptake independent of insulin, improving metabolic efficiency and reducing circulating glucose levels. Early morning light exposure and movement also support circadian rhythm alignment, which influences appetite hormones like leptin and ghrelin. Relevant research: Richter EA, Hargreaves M. Then drink your coffee. Track your cravings, energy, and hunger. Small timing changes can create measurable metabolic shifts. ********************************* Please share this video with your friends and family. I Woke Up at 2 A M —What I Did Next Changed Everything | Dr. Mandell

Waking up at 2 a.m. is not random. During the early morning hours, the body naturally experiences a cortisol pulse that can amplify sympathetic nervous system activity, especially in individuals under chronic stress. This can lead to increased heart rate, mental alertness, and difficulty returning to sleep. In this video, I demonstrate two simple techniques that directly influence autonomic regulation: rhythmic sternum tapping to stimulate vagal afferent pathways and sustained suboccipital pressure to reduce brainstem-driven sympathetic tone. These techniques aim to shift the body from fight-or-flight dominance into parasympathetic activation, improving vagal tone and calming the nervous system in real time. Rhythmic sensory stimulation and vagus nerve modulation have been shown to influence heart rate variability, autonomic balance, and stress response. Suboccipital release techniques may reduce neuromuscular tension and modulate central autonomic pathways. Try this sequence for less than four minutes and observe how your physiology responds. Always consult your healthcare professional if you have a medical condition. Selected PubMed References: Thayer JF, Lane RD. Boost Circulation to Your Brain, Arteries, Legs and Feet — Make This Before 10 AM | Dr. Mandell

Cold hands, brain fog, heavy legs, and fatigue can all be signs of sluggish circulation. In this video, I show you how to make a simple 3-ingredient morning drink designed to support blood flow to your brain, arteries, legs, and feet naturally. How to Make It: • 1 cup hot water • 1 black tea bag, steep 3 to 5 minutes • 1/4 teaspoon Ceylon cinnamon, not Cassia • 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger or a few thin slices fresh ginger • Optional squeeze of fresh lemon Steep the black tea in hot water for 3 to 5 minutes. Remove the tea bag. Stir in 1/4 teaspoon Ceylon cinnamon and 1/4 teaspoon ginger. Add a squeeze of lemon if desired. Drink before 10 AM. Why these ingredients work: Black tea contains polyphenols called theaflavins that support endothelial function, the inner lining of your blood vessels. Healthy endothelial function supports vascular flexibility and efficient circulation. Ceylon cinnamon supports healthy glucose metabolism and vascular health. Ceylon is preferred over Cassia because it contains significantly lower levels of coumarin, which in larger long-term amounts may not be ideal for the liver. Ginger supports vasodilation and helps reduce inflammatory stress in blood vessels, improving peripheral circulation to the hands, legs, and feet. If You’re Over 45, Stop Making These Circulation Mistakes | Dr. Mandell

After age 45, your circulation naturally begins to change. Arteries gradually lose elasticity as elastin fibers fragment and collagen becomes more dominant. Nitric oxide production from the endothelium declines. Oxidative stress increases. Microvascular density decreases. This means blood does not dilate and distribute as efficiently to your brain, heart, and lower extremities. But here’s the good news. You can influence this daily. In this video, I show you the most common circulation mistakes people over 45 make in the first hour of their day, and exactly what to do instead. From activating the calf muscle pump, your body’s “second heart,” to restoring plasma volume with proper hydration, stimulating endothelial nitric oxide production through movement, improving venous return with diaphragmatic breathing, stabilizing blood sugar to protect the endothelium, and supporting vascular health with polyphenol rich foods, these simple habits take less than 10 minutes but send powerful mechanical and biochemical signals that protect long term vascular resilience. Watch for real feedback signs like warmer hands and feet, clearer thinking, reduced leg heaviness, and more stable energy. Circulation is not just about major arteries. It is about microcirculation, capillary perfusion, endothelial health, nitric oxide balance, and maintaining vascular compliance as you age. Your body responds to what you repeat.
