Your Daily Prayer - A Prayer to Let God’s Joy Lead Your Heart

When God's people had just finished rebuilding the broken walls of Jerusalem and gathered to hear the law read aloud, they were moved to tears. They heard how far they had fallen short of how God wanted them to live, and the grief was genuine and real. But Nehemiah stepped in with a message that must have surprised them: stop grieving and start celebrating. Eat good food, enjoy sweet drinks, share with those who have nothing prepared. Why? Because this day is holy to the Lord, and the joy of the Lord is your strength. Joy and happiness are not the same thing, and that distinction matters enormously for anyone trying to navigate a difficult season with faith intact. Happiness depends on circumstances. When things go well, it is present. When things go wrong, it disappears. The joy of the Lord operates on entirely different terms. It is based not on how a day is going, but on who God is — and because God never changes, His joy never runs out. It is available in any circumstances, at any moment, as a choice rooted in what we know to be true about Him. Notice also what Nehemiah asked the people to do once they received that joy: share it. Joy that fills the heart naturally spills over into generosity, into noticing others who are in need, and into action. The burden of the world does not have to rest on our shoulders. We simply need to let our loving Heavenly Father lead the heart — and let His joy be our strength, today and every day. Bible Verse "Do not grieve, for the joy of the LORD is your strength." — Nehemiah 8:10, NIV Ponder Today Joy is a gift from God that can be chosen in any circumstances. Unlike happiness, which depends on things going well, the joy of the Lord is rooted in God's unchanging character and love. It is available to you right now, regardless of what your day looks like. The joy of the Lord acts like fuel for the soul. Pushing through difficulty in your own strength leads to exhaustion. Letting God's joy fill your heart gives you the energy, peace, and confidence to keep going — not because circumstances improved, but because your source of strength did not change. You do not have to pretend problems do not exist to choose joy. Choosing joy is choosing to focus on God's goodness rather than temporary troubles. It is believing that God is stronger than the challenge, not pretending the challenge is not real. Joy that fills the heart naturally spills over into generosity. Nehemiah's instruction was to share food with those who had nothing. God's joy cannot be kept to yourself — it produces a desire to notice others in need and respond with the same abundance we have received. You do not have to carry the world on your shoulders. Your job is to let your Heavenly Father lead your heart. When stress comes, remember God is with you. When guilt sneaks in, remember His love is unconditional. When worry rises, remember His power is more than sufficient. A Prayer for You Today Dear God, thank You for loving me completely and unconditionally and for giving me strength in every situation. You know the burdens I have been carrying lately. You know what makes my heart feel overwhelmed with sadness or stress. Today I want to lay all those worries at Your feet and trust You to help me with each of them. Please fill my heart right now with the joy that only You can give. Help me remember that my joy does not depend on my circumstances, but on Your goodness, which never changes. Teach me how to let Your joy lead my thoughts, words, and actions today. Whenever I feel overwhelmed, remind me that Your joy is my true strength. Give me an open heart to notice those around me who are sufferin

Heartbeat - Make Room for Everyone

Have you ever walked into a place and wondered, “Do I really belong here?” In this episode of HEARTBEAT, we reflect on the story of Hannah, a young woman who has used a wheelchair since childhood. Her story is not defined by what she can't do, but by God’s faithfulness and the community that has supported her along the way. Her testimony also challenges us to look at our own churches, worship services, and communities. Are we creating spaces where people with disabilities and people from all walks of life know they are truly welcome? Jesus consistently noticed and welcomed people others overlooked. As His followers, we are called to do the same. Takeaways from this episode: Everyone wants to know that they belong. A person’s disability does not define their identity or their value. God is faithful through every circumstance. Churches should be places where everyone can participate and feel genuinely welcomed. Accessibility is about more than physical spaces. It is also about relationships and belonging. We can follow Jesus’ example by noticing, welcoming, and including people others may overlook. Don’t forget: You can also download our free devotional, “Mind, Body & Soul,” designed to help strengthen your walk with God through Scripture, prayer, and practical habits. The Walk: A Devotional Podcast from Worship Leader... - Franni Cash: I Grew Up in a Cult and Had to Relearn God

Franni Cash spent most of her twenties as one-quarter of We The Kingdom: two Grammy nominations, three Dove Awards, two No. 1 songs. Then she left the family band at the end of 2023 and nearly walked away from music entirely, paralyzed by the fear of not measuring up to what she'd already done. She looked into acting and seriously considered going to school for interior design. What pulled her back was friends passing her demos around behind her back and refusing to delete them. She wrote more than 200 songs to find her own voice and narrowed them to the thirteen on her debut solo album, Here I Am, out September 18. Her rule: only the songs she kept reaching for in the car, not the ones that might scratch an itch in the Christian market. Then the conversation turns to "Raised By Wolves." Franni grew up in a religious cult for twelve years of her childhood, which her family left during her senior year of high school. Her husband suggested the title, drawn from the warning in Matthew 7 about false prophets who come in sheep's clothing but are inwardly ravenous wolves. She wrote it with David Leonard and Andy Cherry, and it was David who spoke the opening line: "be quiet little girl." She had assumed a story that specific would isolate her. Instead she found that when something is that personal it becomes universal, because everyone knows what betrayal from a safe place feels like. On the music itself: songwriter Paul Duncan told her he wasn't worried about her relationship with her family, he was worried about her relationship with music, and sent her on "musical dates" with no goal but enjoyment. Al Green, Elton John and Marvin Gaye on the record player. Long drives in a beat-up 1978 Corvette off Facebook Marketplace. Six producers worked on Here I Am, with Franni as executive producer holding it together. Asked what she wants listeners to take away, Franni lands on one word: validation. She talks about narrative therapy and learning that not all twelve of those years were bad, because her grandmothers poured scripture into her, and that's what "Jesus Girl" is really about. She pushes back on the idea that people outside the faith are simply choosing sin. In her experience, someone misrepresented God to them. The episode closes with bravery. Franni grew up believing women were less than men. On the Brandon Lake tour she felt the Holy Spirit tell her she was brave and should ask to open the second leg, and minutes later her guitar player picked a worn card off the dressing room floor that read, in gold letters, "I am brave." She asked. He said yes the next day. Then Amy Grant invited her to lunch, listened to "Darken the Doorway," and asked her to join The Me That Remains Tour. "Don't let anybody keep you small or silent." - Franni Cash ABOUT FRANNI CASH Franni Cash is a two-time GRAMMY-nominated artist, three-time Dove Award winner, performer, vocalist and songwriter. Formerly of We The Kingdom, she co-wrote two No. 1 songs and was named one of the Top 20 breakout artists across all genres. Following her departure from the band, she released her debut EP Good Woman and now her debut solo album, Here I Am, out September 18: thirteen autobiographical songs covering her years in a religious cult, reclaiming her faith, and stepping into her own voice. She has shared stages with Lauren Daigle and Brandon Lake, and joins Amy Grant this fall on The Me That Remains Tour. IN THIS EPISODE Why leaving We The Kingdom nearly ended her music career The friends who passed her demos around against her wishes Writing over 200 songs to find her own voice The story behind "Raised By Wolves," Matthew 7, and twelve years inside a religious cult Why she believed her story would isolate her, and what happened instead Narrative therapy, her grandmothers, and what "Jesus Girl" is actually about Musical dates, a 1978 Corvette, and falling in love with music on her

Thinking Christian: Clear Theology for a Confusing... - Marx and Moody: What the Church Left Undone | Dr. Gregg Quiggle

Karl Marx and D.L. Moody lived at the same time, watched the same cities industrialize, and asked the same question about the poor. One had a doctorate, wealthy patrons, and a theory of history. The other had about five years of formal schooling and a Bible. Dr. James Spencer talks with Dr. Gregg Quiggle about Marx and Moody: Two Contemporaries. Two Gospels. Two Tombstones. One Choice., the new book Quiggle co-wrote with Erwin Lutzer for Moody Publishers. They work through where Marx's system runs out of road, particularly its silence on how a state ever relinquishes power, and why that silence traces back to a thin account of the human heart. They also take up Moody's conviction that charity is life on life rather than a check sent across the tracks, the difference between the early church in Acts and state redistribution, and the harder question Quiggle raises near the end: how much traction would any of this have today if evangelical churches had actually taken up Moody's model of hands-on engagement in their own communities? Timeless Wisdom with Dennis Prager - We Had Kids… What Happened to Our Marriage? | Male/Female Hour

Dennis Prager's latest episode of Timeless Wisdom tackles a sensitive and often overlooked topic: the impact of children on romantic relationships. As a seasoned host and philosopher, Prager delves into the complexities of marriage and parenthood, sharing personal anecdotes and insightful observations from listeners who've experienced the challenges firsthand. In this thought-provoking episode, Dennis warns young couples not to assume that having a child will automatically strengthen their bond and romantic life. He cites a personal anecdote from his friend Joseph Tulushkin, who noted that many of the happiest couples he knew were those without children. This observation sparks a broader discussion about the relationship between parenthood and marital bliss, with Prager highlighting the importance of prioritizing the marriage before having children. The Bible Explained with Jenn Kokal - Esther 6 - Haman is Humiliated

In this episode of The Bible Explained, Jenn dives into Esther chapter six, a chapter that's often considered one of the funniest in the Bible. But don't let the humor fool you - this chapter is also a pivotal moment in the story of Esther, and it's full of unexpected twists and turns: King Ahasuerus has a hard time sleeping after Esther's banquet. He orders the book of records to be brought to him. The king learns about Mordecai's part in saving his life but he never received recognition or a reward for his actions. The king is puzzled by this oversight and decides to take action. Haman, who's been plotting against Mordecai, comes early to the court to ask for Mordecai to die, but gets humiliated instead. Mordecai remains humble and unassuming, even as he's given the royal treatment. This episode is a great reminder that God is always at work, even in the most unexpected ways. If you're looking for a fresh perspective on a familiar story, or just want to learn more about the book of Esther, this episode is a great place to start. Your Nightly Scripture - Following Jesus Even When the Path Feels Unclear (John 12)

Evening Scripture John, Chapter 12 Six days before the Passover, Jesus came to Bethany, where Lazarus lived, whom Jesus had raised from the dead. Here a dinner was given in Jesus’ honor. Martha served, while Lazarus was among those reclining at the table with him. Then Mary took about a pint of pure nard, an expensive perfume; she poured it on Jesus’ feet and wiped his feet with her hair. And the house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume. But one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, who was later to betray him, objected, “Why wasn’t this perfume sold and the money given to the poor? It was worth a year’s wages.” He did not say this because he cared about the poor but because he was a thief; as keeper of the money bag, he used to help himself to what was put into it. “Leave her alone,” Jesus replied. “It was intended that she should save this perfume for the day of my burial. You will always have the poor among you, but you will not always have me.” Meanwhile a large crowd of Jews found out that Jesus was there and came, not only because of him but also to see Lazarus, whom he had raised from the dead. So the chief priests made plans to kill Lazarus as well, for on account of him many of the Jews were going over to Jesus and believing in him. The next day the great crowd that had come for the festival heard that Jesus was on his way to Jerusalem. They took palm branches and went out to meet him, shouting, “Hosanna!” “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!” “Blessed is the king of Israel!” Jesus found a young donkey and sat on it, as it is written: “Do not be afraid, Daughter Zion; see, your king is coming, seated on a donkey’s colt.” At first his disciples did not understand all this. Only after Jesus was glorified did they realize that these things had been written about him and that these things had been done to him. Now the crowd that was with him when he called Lazarus from the tomb and raised him from the dead continued to spread the word. Many people, because they had heard that he had performed this sign, went out to meet him. So the Pharisees said to one another, “See, this is getting us nowhere. Look how the whole world has gone after him!” Now there were some Greeks among those who went up to worship at the festival. They came to Philip, who was from Bethsaida in Galilee, with a request. “Sir,” they said, “we would like to see Jesus.” Philip went to tell Andrew; Andrew and Philip in turn told Jesus. Jesus replied, “The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified. Very truly I tell you, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds. Anyone who loves their life will lose it, while anyone who hates their life in this world will keep it for eternal life. Whoever serves me must follow me; and where I am, my servant also will be. My Father will honor the one who serves me. “Now my soul is troubled, and what shall I say? ‘Father, save me from this hour’? No, it was for this very reason I came to this hour. Father, glorify your name!” Then a voice came from heaven, “I have glorified it, and will glorify it again.” The crowd that was there and heard it said it had thundered; others said an angel had spoken to him. Jesus said, “This voice was for your benefit, not mine. Now is the time for judgment on this world; now the prince of this world will be driven out. And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself.” He said this to show the kind of death he was going to die. The crowd spoke up, “We have heard from the Law that the Messiah will remain forever, so how can you say, ‘The Son of Man must be lifted up’? Who is this ‘Son of Man’?” Then Jesus told them, “You are going to have the light just a little while longer. Walk while you have the light, before darkn

Your Nightly Prayer: Evening Prayers for Christian... - Grace for the Pace of Change

Hebrews 4 tells us that a Sabbath rest remains for the people of God. Not a future rest only, but a present invitation. And the exhortation to make every effort to enter it is striking because it acknowledges what most of us already know: rest does not come naturally in a world that rewards relentlessness. But here is what that rest actually looks like in ordinary life. Reading Scripture. Talking with God. Coloring with a toddler. Sitting on the front porch. Holding a hand. Really, truly living in the present moment rather than racing toward the next one. It is not complicated. It is simply unhurried, and unhurried is countercultural. When we stop trying to do everything and simply receive what God has given, we find something we were not expecting: holiness. Not the intimidating kind, but the quiet, steady, grounded kind that comes from resting in who He is rather than proving who we are. Tonight, the to-do list can wait. Rest is not a reward for finishing. It is an invitation into something holy. Ponder Tonight The Sabbath was commanded, not suggested. God saw fit to build rest into the structure of creation itself and then to instruct His people to protect it, which means treating rest as optional is a form of disobedience, not just a personal failing. The condition we most commonly attach to rest, I will rest when this is done, is a trap. The list never ends. Rest must be chosen rather than earned, which is a fundamentally different posture. Finding worth in what we accomplish rather than in who God says we are is one of the most pervasive and quietly destructive patterns in a productivity-obsessed culture. The Sabbath exists, in part, to interrupt that pattern on a regular basis. Real rest is not passive. It is the active, intentional choice to step out of the race, receive God's gifts in the present moment, and trust that what is undone can remain undone without the world falling apart. Tonight's Scripture "There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; for anyone who enters God's rest also rests from their works, just as God did from his. Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest." — Hebrews 4:9-11, NIV Your Evening Prayer Father, Grant us Your quiet. Your rhythm for how we should live. Help us understand what it means to keep the Sabbath holy, to push back against the world's demands for a fast-paced everything, and to rest in who You are and the gifts You provide. Protect us from the rat race of lies that makes us feel like we have to do everything at all times. Give us pockets of time to rest in Your grace, to thank and praise You for Your mercy, and to know You better through Your Word, the people You have blessed us with, and the gifts You scatter through our ordinary days. Thank You for the gift of time. May we steward it as You intended. Amen. Want More? Your Daily Bible Verse - How to Stand Strong When Others Need You (Joshua 1:16–17)

"Then they answered Joshua, 'Whatever you have commanded us we will do, and wherever you send us we will go. Just as we fully obeyed Moses, so we will obey you. Only may the Lord your God be with you as he was with Moses.'" — Joshua 1:16–17 What does it look like to stand strong in faith when others are depending on you? Joshua 1:16–17 shows the Israelites responding to Joshua with a commitment to follow his leadership and trust God's presence. Their words remind us that faith isn't only about personal courage—it also means being willing to support others, obey God, and move forward together when the path ahead is uncertain. Untangling Prayer with Rachel Wojo - How Do I Pray When Fear Keeps Knocking?

You've prayed about the fear. You handed it to God. And a few hours later (or even minutes) it's back, knocking at the door of your heart like it never left. If you're tired of fighting the same fear over and over, this episode is for you. This week on Untangling Prayer, we sit with an honest question: how do I pray when fear keeps knocking? Drawing from Psalm 34:4 and 1 John 4:18, Rachel unpacks a shift that changes everything about praying through fear. Not fighting harder, but receiving God's perfect love because it is stronger than the fear itself. Plus, the true story of missionary Amy Carmichael, a little girl's prayer for blue eyes, and the surprising way God's "no" turned out to be His love all along. You'll discover: Why Psalm 34 says God delivers us from our fears, not always from our troubles, and why that matters The difference between fighting fear and receiving the love that crowds it out What 1 John 4:18 actually means when it says perfect love drives out fear How to pray through a fear that keeps coming back instead of waiting for it to disappear The true story of Amy Carmichael and a prayer God answered forty years later However long fear has been knocking, His love is greater than your fear. Bought + Beloved with Kirby Kelly - The "Yes" of Eve vs The "Yes" of Mary ft. Paige Allen

In this episode, I sat down with author and pastor Paige Allen to talk about her book Matriarchs and the powerful faith journeys of the women of Genesis! Paige shares how Sarah, Eve, Mary, and others reveal what it means to receive God’s promises, wait well, lean into pain, nurture what He’s placed in our hands, and release it for future generations. That's Just What I Needed Podcast - What to Do When You Think, This Isn’t the Story I Wanted with Nicole Langman

What do you do when you’re grieving, but no one has died? Maybe it’s the loss of a marriage, a relationship, a dream for your child, your health, or simply the life you thought you’d have. In this conversation with therapist, speaker, and author Nicole Langman, we talk about how to recognize and process the losses we don’t always call grief. Nicole shares practical ways to stop unhealthy thought spirals, make space for honest emotions, and keep trusting God when life hurts. If you’re carrying a story you never would have chosen, I hope this conversation reminds you that grief and hope can exist at the same time and God is still at work. And that He loves you deeply, no matter how things look right now. This is a conversation you don’t want to miss and you will definitely want to share. Remember, I'd love to connect more on Instagram, where you'll find me at @donnaajones or on my website at www.donnajones.org. And don’t forget to subscribe so you don’t miss a single episode! Bring the real hurt to God—even when all you can say is, “God, help.” Name the loss. Ask yourself: What exactly hurts so much? What did I lose? What story did I think I would have? Face it instead of running from it. Grief is messy and rarely linear. Give yourself permission to do the work instead of rushing yourself to “get over it.” Notice your thought patterns. Ask: Does this thinking heal me or hurt me? Help me or harm me? Move me toward God and the person I want to become—or away from them? Interrupt unhealthy rumination. Move your body, engage your senses, listen to worship music, write Scripture, or call a healthy friend who can help redirect your focus. Ask, “What would my future self want me to do right now?” Choose the action that moves you toward healing, even when it isn’t what you feel like doing. Move

When you make God your ultimate treasure, you can face changing times with confidence because your foundation isn't changing with your circumstances. Words of Life: Weekly Christian Podcast with Testi... - The Best Parenting Conversations Happen in Ordinary Moments

In this episode our panel of teachers and parents discuss practical ways parents can support their children’s emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being in the ordinary rhythms of family life. The conversation centers on building trust, making space for honest conversations, creating room for fun, and making wise choices around phones and schedules. It’s a parenting discussion with a strong emphasis on relationship, consistency, and teamwork. Key topics Supporting kids emotionally is different from supporting them academically, and both matter. Letting kids talk first, then listening before trying to solve the problem, helps build trust. Timing matters when asking questions, and consistency helps kids learn the door is always open. Family dinner, prayer requests, and praying for one another help children feel known and teach empathy. Your Daily Prayer - A Prayer to Live from Victory and Not Defeat

Defeating thoughts have a way of quietly backing us into a corner. Resistance at every turn, mundane tasks that start to feel monumental, weariness that settles in before the day has really begun — and underneath it all, the enemy doing what he does best: creating doubt and fear. It started in the Garden of Eden with a single question: "Did God really say?" That one doubt-filled sentence cost Eve everything, and the pattern has continued ever since. In our work, our relationships, our health, and our faith, Satan works persistently to keep us living from a place of defeat rather than from the victory that already belongs to us. But First Corinthians 15:57 declares something that changes the entire frame: God gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Not someday. Not eventually. Today. The victory is already given, already secured, already ours in Christ. Living from victory rather than toward it is one of the most significant mindset shifts available to a believer. Every doubt, every defeating thought, every whisper of inadequacy has to bow at Jesus' feet — because the enemy has no ground in a life that belongs entirely to Him. Psalm 21 describes God greeting David with rich blessings, granting unending favor, and ensuring that through His unfailing love, David would not be shaken. That same greeting belongs to every child of God today. When a whisper of defeat comes, the response is not a desperate hope that victory might arrive. It is a declaration of what is already true: I am victorious in Christ Jesus. Today's Bible Verse "But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ." — 1 Corinthians 15:57, NIV Ponder Today The victory is already given — we live from it, not toward it. First Corinthians 15:57 does not say God will give us victory someday. It says He gives it. Present tense. The finish line is behind us, not ahead of us, because of what Christ accomplished. The enemy's primary weapon is doubt. "Did God really say?" is still his opening move. Recognizing the source of defeating thoughts — and responding with God's truth rather than engaging the question — is one of the most powerful forms of spiritual resistance available. Every inch of your life belongs to Jesus — the enemy has no ground there. When defeat feels like the dominant reality, it is a lie operating on territory it does not own. Reclaiming that territory begins with declaring what is actually true. God greets you with rich blessings and unfailing love. Psalm 21 describes the posture God takes toward those who trust in Him — not reluctant assistance, but generous, joyful blessing. That is the God you are bringing your defeating thoughts to. Let "I am victorious in Christ Jesus" become an anthem, not a last resort. Speaking truth out loud in the face of doubt and fear is not a performance of confidence we do not feel. It is faith declaring what is real before feelings catch up to it. A Prayer for You Today Heavenly Father, I admit that I have believed the enemy's lies for far too long. Please forgive me and help me step into the victory You have already claimed on my behalf. I am Yours, Lord, and I choose to live my life from the finish line of Your mercy and grace. When defeating thoughts come, help me see exactly where they are coming from and declare Your truth with boldness and belief. Your Word tells me I am blessed with unending blessings, and I stand on that truth as a platform of victory today. Thank You for overcoming the evil one. Remind me of this often, so that I too will overcome every doubt he throws my way. In Jesus' mighty name, Amen. Don't
