Your Nightly Prayer: Evening Prayers for Christian... - Hope for the Person Starting Over

The mind has a way of replaying what hurt us. Even when a new season arrives, even when there is finally a moment of reprieve, something in us stays braced for the next blow. The question forms quietly: is the other shoe about to drop? Can I actually trust this? Is it safe to hope? Starting over is complicated that way. The new beginning is real, but the loop from the old chapter keeps running underneath it. Isaiah 42:9 speaks into exactly that tension. The former things have taken place, and new things God declares, announcing them before they spring into being. But the most important part of that verse is not the relief of former things passing or even the promise of new things coming. It is the fact that God is the one declaring it. Which means the new things are not wishful thinking. They are the announcement of a God who is faithful, steady, unchanging, and overflowing with kindness and compassion that does not run out. God reminded the Israelites of everything He had done before, all His acts of mercy and faithfulness in their history, not to make them nostalgic but to connect them to Him for what was coming next. The same God who was faithful then would be faithful in the new thing. The record of His character was the foundation for their hope. He does the same for us. He has seen everything we walked through to get here. He knows where we are headed. And instead of waiting for the loop to replay or the other shoe to drop, we are invited to let Him rewrite the story, one in which hope grows and faith deepens and new things spring up before we even see them coming. The shoe does not have to drop. New things are already being declared. He is faithful, and behold, they are springing. Ponder Tonight The fear that things will fall apart again when they are going well is a deeply human response to having been hurt before. God does not dismiss that fear. He redirects it toward the one unchanging reality: His own faithful character. God's reminder of former things in Isaiah 42 was not a call to dwell on the past but an invitation to draw confidence for the future from the God who was consistently faithful through all of it. The loop that replays difficult memories is often sustained by a lie, the belief that what happened before defines what must happen next. God's declaration of new things directly challenges that narrative. Surrendering the loop is not denial of what was hard. It is an act of trust in the God who has seen all of it and is already announcing what comes next. Tonight's Scripture "See, the former things have taken place, and new things I declare; before they spring into being I announce them to you." — Isaiah 42:9, NIV Your Evening Prayer Lord, We surrender the loop that keeps replaying. We submit every fear to You and place it under the authority of Jesus Christ. We pray that hope would arise and that in this season, our trust and intimacy with You would grow deeper than it has ever been. We lay ourselves down tonight as an act of complete surrender and pray for Your will, Your Word, and Your plan to reign in our lives. Forgive us for the times we have taken control or walked in fear. We pray for Your peace. We ask for protection from the enemy's tactics and lies, and for Your truth and wisdom as we learn to discern Your voice. Holy Spirit, be near tonight and refresh our souls in Your goodness. You are faithful, merciful, and steadfast in Your love. We trust You with our future, and we receive the new things You are already declaring. In Jesus' name, Amen. Want More? Sign up for our fr

Crosswalk Talk: Celebrity Christian Interviews - Mena Massoud Went From Aladdin to the Book of Daniel

Mena Massoud grew up doing church plays and Stations of the Cross as a Coptic Christian, the son of Egyptian parents who moved to Canada when he was three and a half. He went to the University of Toronto for neuroscience, auditioned for theater school on a leap of faith, got one of the thirty spots, and eventually landed Aladdin after a six-month silence from Disney followed by a call to fly to London and screen test with Guy Ritchie. Now he is playing Daniel in Daniel in the Fiery Furnace, a biblical film about a man who refused to bow, literally and figuratively. Faith, identity, and the question every generation has to answer for itself: Mena shares why Daniel's story resonates so deeply for him as an immigrant who knows what it is like to leave everything familiar and hold onto your culture, language, and faith in a foreign land, and why he believes the central question of the film — who do you hold in the highest regard — is one every young person is wrestling with right now in a world full of athletes, celebrities, and influencers competing for that place. He also talks about what it was like to audition for Aladdin, forget about it for six months, and then get the call that changed his career. Highlights Why Mena has been circling biblical projects for years and why Daniel in the Fiery Furnace is the one God put in his path Why Daniel's refusal to bow is as relevant today as it was in Babylon, especially for young people on social media How his parents' immigration from Egypt to Canada, speaking Arabic at home and cooking Egyptian food every night, mirrors Daniel's experience in Babylon What it was like to grow up in a tight-knit Coptic community in Ontario where his closest friendships were formed at church How Aladdin came after a six-month silence from Disney and why the real surprise was getting called back, not booking the role What his four years at theater school looked like: 13–14 hour days, six days a week, singing, dancing, Shakespeare, and mask work What he would wish for if the genie were real, and why health is the only answer that matters as you get older Resources / Links / CTA Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/menamassoud Daniel in the Fiery Furnace: https://www.imdb.com/title Follow, share, and explore more of Crosswalk Talk Follow, share, and subscribe for more faith-driven conversations on Lifeaudio Discover more Christian podcasts at lifeaudio.com and inquire about advertising opportunities at lifeaudio.com/contact-us.

Have you ever felt a little lost when something that once defined your days suddenly changed? Children grow up. Careers shift. Ministries evolve. Dreams unfold differently than we imagined. Sometimes a season ends long before we are ready—and when our identity has become tangled up in what we do, that change can leave us wondering who we are. This week on The Love Offering Podcast, I’m talking with my friend Elizabeth Laing Thompson about her new 90-day devotional, In Season. Although the book was written for young female athletes, our conversation is for every woman who has felt pressure to perform, walked through disappointment, or questioned her worth when life did not go according to plan. Elizabeth and I talk about: • Separating who we are from what we do • Finding hidden growth within disappointment • Quieting comparison and listening to God’s voice • Making room for God during busy seasons • Receiving rest as an act of trust Friend, your worth is not measured by your performance, productivity, or recognition. Roles change, accomplishments fade, and seasons end—but you remain a beloved daughter of God. Faith Over Fear - When a Terminal Diagnosis Meets the Bigness of God: The True Story Behind I Can Only Imagine 2

When we experience intense pain and hardship, our view of God can shrink. When circumstances overwhelm us, prayers seem unanswered and our suffering endures for any length of time, we may fear God isn't actually big enough to handle what we’re facing, or loving enough to do something about it. Singer, songwriter and author Tim Timmons, whose story is shared in MercyMe's Imagine 2, knows what it means to live with those types of questions. After receiving an incurable cancer diagnosis and being given five years to live more than two decades ago, Tim has learned to bring his grief, questions and uncertainty honestly to God. In this episode, Tim and Jennifer discuss what it looks like to trust a God who is bigger than our understanding and meet Him within the tension of pain and hope. They explore the intimacy that can develop through honest wrestling, why acknowledging grief doesn’t diminish faith and how shifting from “working for God” to joining Him can change the way we approach each day. Wherever life feels confusing or painfully unresolved, God remains present, attentive and at work. The Crosswalk Devotional: A Daily Devotional Chris... - What Is Your Life Reflecting About Your Heart?

What does your life reveal about what is really happening in your heart? Our words, attitudes, choices, and actions can reveal far more about our faith than what we say we believe. Proverbs 27:19 reminds us that “as water reflects the face, so one’s life reflects the heart,” challenging us to take an honest look at whether our everyday lives actually reflect our relationship with God. It’s easy to recognize pride, impatience, or poor judgment in others while overlooking those same attitudes in ourselves. But God calls us to examine our hearts and allow His Word to expose what needs to change. When we choose humility, wisdom, and obedience, our lives can become a genuine reflection of Christ—pointing the people around us toward Him rather than simply telling them what we believe. Highlights: Discover how your words and actions reveal the condition of your heart. Learn why impatience and always wanting to share your opinion can be warning signs. Consider how pride can quietly influence your relationships and decisions. Explore what Proverbs teaches about wisdom, humility, and being willing to listen. Understand why our outward behavior should align with what we profess to believe. Ask God to examine your heart and help your life reflect His Word. Want more encouragement throughout your week? By Lynette Kittle Bible Reading: “As water reflects the face, so one’s life reflects the heart.” - Proverbs 27:19 What are our lives reflecting to those around us? How are our words and actions revealing what is within our hearts and what we really believe? Too many of us know, or have known, individuals who say they are Christians, yet their actions tell another story, one that doesn’t support what their words confess. Proverbs points out that how we’re living is truly a reflection of our hearts, so if we’re saying one thing, but living in another way, the truth is in our reflection. If we think we’re hiding what’s in our hearts, we need to reconsider because we can’t really hide what’s going on inside of us. If we say we love God, but then our words and actions don’t align with His words and commands, we may fool a few people, or even many… but we may be mostly fooling ourselves. The following are alarming reflections: the things rooted in our hearts that we may be missing that are fooling us. Are we impatient, not wanting to hear what others have to say or explain, wanting to express our own viewpoints? If so, it’s wise for us to consider what Proverbs 18:2 describes: “Fools find no pleasure in understanding but delight in airing their own opini

Love Life Sober - What Sobriety Really Feels Like Six Years In (And What I’ve Learned) | Christy Osborne

You begin to understand the neuroscience behind drinking. You become curious about your patterns instead of judging yourself for them. You build new tools for dealing with stress, anxiety, grief, and big emotions. And you find people you can be completely honest with. For me, that’s part of what changed as I learned to live alcohol-free. After six years without alcohol, my friend Lauren—one of my earliest coaching clients and a professional journalist—turns the mic around and asks me what sobriety has actually been like, when it started to feel easier, and whether the desire to escape ever really goes away. Our conversation became an honest look at what happens after the early days of sobriety are over. Because eventually, something changes. You realize that even when you no longer want alcohol, the desire to check out, escape, or change how you feel can still show up. The difference is learning how to respond when it does. For me, the journey has never been only about alcohol. It has been about understanding why I was reaching for it in the first place and learning what real freedom actually looks like. If You’ve Ever Thought… “Why is this still hard when I know so much?” “When will not drinking finally feel normal?” “What if I’m not ready to quit forever?” “Why do I keep reaching for alcohol when I know it isn’t helping me?” This episode is for you. What You’ll Learn • When sobriety starts to feel easier • Why the desire to “check out” can still show up years later • How to recognize what you’re really reaching for when you want a drink • Why curiosity is more helpful than shame • How understanding your brain can change your relationship with alcohol • How to build healthier tools for stress, anxiety, grief, and big emotions • Why you don’t have to know whether you’ll quit forever to get curious about your drinking • Why community matters so much in sobriety I hope this conversation reminds you that sobriety isn’t about getting everything right. It’s about becoming curious, learning new ways to cope, and giving yourself the space to discover what is underneath the drinking. Your Daily Prayer - A Prayer to Recharge

A camera battery that is allowed to run completely down takes far longer to recharge than one that is topped up consistently after a few uses. The same principle applies to human beings — and yet most of us wait until we are nearly drained before we give ourselves permission to rest. The result is a life perpetually running on low, with less to give to others and less capacity for the work God has placed in front of us. Mark 6:31 shows Jesus stepping away from the crowd with His disciples — not because the need had diminished, but because people were coming and going in such volume that the disciples had not even had a chance to eat. The invitation was deliberate and unhurried: come with me to a quiet place and rest. Recharging was not optional for Jesus and His disciples, and it is not optional for us. Jesus modeled solitude, fun, laughter, and sleep — including napping on a cushion in the stern of a boat during a storm. A God who napped gives us full permission to do the same. The key is not finding one perfect method of recharging but making the decision to do it consistently and intentionally, before the battery runs out entirely. There will always be something else competing for that time. Without a deliberate, scheduled commitment to regular renewal — spiritual, physical, and mental — we will always find ourselves running too depleted to do the things that matter most. Bible Verse "Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest." — Mark 6:31, NIV Ponder Today Recharging consistently is far easier than recovering from depletion. A battery maintained at a healthy level recharges quickly. One allowed to drain completely takes far longer to restore. The same is true of our physical, spiritual, and emotional reserves. Jesus modeled recharging — intentionally and regularly. Solitude, celebration, laughter, and sleep were all part of how He sustained His ministry. If the Son of God needed to step away and rest, we have no valid argument for why we do not. Too many demands draining the same battery will always result in running on empty. The more we allow every need and responsibility to draw from the same source without replenishment, the less we have to give to anything or anyone — including God. Recharging must be scheduled or it will always be displaced. There will always be something more urgent competing for that time. A deliberate, protected window for renewal is the only way it happens consistently. Solitude, fun, laughter, and napping are all biblically endorsed methods of recharging. God's Word does not just permit these things — it models them. Being a doer of the Word includes taking the rest and renewal it so clearly commends. A Prayer for You Today Father God, we are grateful that in Your great wisdom You call us to come away from the world and rest. Without proper care for ourselves, we become drained and susceptible to the enemy's attacks. Just as Jesus took time to recharge, we can too, without guilt or shame. May we choose to do the things that restore us spiritually, physically, and mentally. Thank You for reminding us to come away with You. With grateful hearts, Amen. Want More? Heartbeat - When Everything Gets on Your Nerves

We all have bad days. Maybe you wake up in a terrible mood, someone says the wrong thing, traffic pushes your buttons, and suddenly your frustration seems to control everything. But what do we do with those emotions when anger starts taking over? In this episode of HEARTBEAT, we look at 2 Corinthians 10:5 and the call to “take captive every thought and make it obedient to Christ.” Following Jesus doesn’t mean we never feel anger or frustration. It means we don't have to let those emotions control our thoughts, words, and actions. If you're having one of those days, pause. Take that thought captive. Invite Jesus into the moment and let Him lead your heart. Your Nightly Prayer: Evening Prayers for Christian... - When You're Tempted to Drift

Spiritual drift. The faith is still there, the belief is intact, but Christ is no longer the firm foundation He once was. The prayers, when they come, feel shallow. Procedural. A little empty. And the question begins to form: is God even listening? The writer of Hebrews knew this was coming for all of them. Not just the struggling ones. Not just the ones going through obvious trials. All of them. We must pay the most careful attention, so that we do not drift away. The we is all-inclusive, a warning written to everyone and also to himself. Drift is a danger precisely because it is so gradual. An unanchored boat does not announce its departure. It simply moves with whatever current the water offers, and by the time the distance is obvious, the shore feels far away. But the Father of the prodigal son was watching for him while he was still a long way off. He ran to meet him. He was not standing at the door with disappointment. He was watching, waiting, ready to receive with open arms. That is the invitation tonight for anyone who has noticed the drift. There is no dramatic re-entry required. No achievement of sufficient spiritual readiness before returning. Simply going back, opening the Word again, sitting with God even in silence, letting the Holy Spirit carry what we do not have words for. Every day offers the same choice: draw closer to Him or let the currents carry us further. Choose to return. He is already watching for you. Ponder Tonight Spiritual drift is most dangerous because it is so gradual and so ordinary. The warning in Hebrews is addressed to everyone precisely because no one is immune, and the drift most often comes through the accumulated weight of everyday life rather than through dramatic failure. Jesus told the church in Ephesus that they had forgotten their first love. That is a tender and sobering diagnosis. It is possible to maintain religious activity while quietly losing the relationship that gives it meaning. When prayers feel shallow or procedural, that is often a signal worth paying attention to rather than pushing through. The hollowness is an invitation back to something deeper, not a verdict on where we permanently stand. The father in the parable of the prodigal son was watching while the son was still a long way off. God does not wait for us to arrive before He begins moving toward us. The return itself is met with running and open arms. Tonight's Scripture "We must pay the most careful attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away." — Hebrews 2:1, NIV Your Evening Prayer Father, We confess that we have let ourselves drift, slowly and without fully realizing it. The busyness crept in, the prayers grew thin, and the distance grew without our intending it to. We are sorry. Please forgive us. Send Your Holy Spirit to help us return, to bring us back to where we were and further still. We know You have been holding us even in the drift, and that You were watching for us to recognize how far we had moved from the shore. Thank You for Your forgiveness. Thank You for running to meet us before we even fully arrive. Help us recommit to Your Word, to prayer, to community, and to the simple daily choice to draw closer to You rather than letting the currents of life carry us away. We are coming home. Amen. Christian Parent, Crazy World - The Hidden Link Between Sleep & Your Child’s Health (w/ Dr. Kallie Hale) - Ep. 190

We numb the pain, mask the problem, and patch the visible cracks—rarely pausing to dig for the real reason something is wrong. But what if this approach is quietly failing our children and families, creating lifelong challenges where there could have been correction and healing? In this memorable episode of Christian Parent/Crazy World, host Catherine pulls back the curtain on one of the most overlooked arenas where symptom-chasing can rob families of true wellness: our children’s oral and airway health during sleep. Bringing practical wisdom, expert insight, and personal experience, Catherine is joined by Dr. Kallie Hale—one of the country’s leading dentists specializing in dental sleep medicine and airway health. With a national speaking career and a passion for pediatric sleep-disordered breathing, Dr. Hale has made it her mission to change how dentistry and medicine care for children’s well-being—by getting to the source of symptoms rather than merely managing them. Episode Highlights & Key Insights: The “duct tape” problem in medicine and parenting: Many health challenges—headaches, poor sleep, crooked teeth, even mental health—are met with short-term remedies rather than curiosity about their origins (Catherine, 03:38). Oral health, airway function, and your child’s future: Dr. Hale describes how issues like crooked teeth, mouth breathing, tooth grinding, and even bedwetting can signal deep-seated airway problems that affect not just dental aesthetics, but growth, learning, and emotional health (Dr. Hale, 12:00). Rethinking orthodontics: For generations, standard dental practice has started “too late,” waiting until adolescence to straighten teeth and sometimes extracting healthy teeth—while missing the root cause: underdeveloped jaw and airway structures. Dr. Hale urges, “The way we do our orthodontic treatment on our children now will determine how they live for the rest of their life, and how they age.” (Dr. Kallie Hale, 13:41) Signs parents can’t afford to ignore: Grinding, snoring, chronic tiredness, allergies, dark under-eye circles, and persistent bedwetting are early warning lights on the dashboard. “That’s your check engine light,” warns Dr. Hale. From symptom to solution: Tooth Pillow—a simple, child-friendly appliance—offers early, gentle intervention that addresses the root of airway-related dental and sleep struggles, and their virtual platform means families everywhere can access screening and help. Spiritual parallels: Just like in health, our faith calls us to look below the surface—not just masking the manifest struggles but seeking the deeper heart issues, trusting God to reveal the true diagnosis and pathway to healing. Catherine shares personal anecdotes—her own long path through dental fixes, her children’s struggles, and the frustration of being offered “duct tape” solutions, never a path to wholeness. Dr. Hale vulnerably discusses what it cost her to become a voice for root-cause medicine in a profession slow to change, and how she’s equipping parents to “challenge the narrative” in everything—from their dentist’s advice to the way they advocate for their children’s health and future. <
