Inside My Head

Tom Gilding

Hi, I’m Tom.

This is me trying to understand how my brain works, in real time.

I have ADHD and autism, and this podcast is where I talk through how that shows up in my life, including overthinking, oversharing, and everything in between.

It’s honest, unscripted, and usually me figuring things out as I go.

Hope you enjoy

    4. Everything I've Failed At Recently

I posted about my recent flops and it did better than anything I've actually tried hard on, so we're doing a whole episode about it. In this one I go through the things I've tried lately that didn't work and things I feel like i'm failing at, why failing lands differently when you've spent years quietly building a case against yourself, and why the standard advice about leaving your comfort zone misses what it actually costs a neurodivergent brain. Thanks for taking a listen tom x

    3. Airports

Everyone talks about the destination. Nobody talks about the ninety minutes of fluorescent lighting, tannoy announcements and low-level panic that you're at the wrong gate. In this episode, recorded at the gate before a flight, I get into why airports are one of the most honest tests of how I'm actually doing, and why for years I thought I was just bad at travelling when really an airport is every sensory and executive-function challenge stacked on top of each other at once. I talk about what actually changed after my diagnosis, the systems I use now, getting over the guilt of asking for assistance, and the shift from surviving airports to managing them. If you find airports draining, this one's for you. You're not bad at travelling. Airports are a lot.

    2. Would life be better or worse?

Better or Worse (Finding Balance) My brain has two settings. Obsessed, or done. For years I thought that was just my personality, when really it was the reason balance never came naturally to me. In this one I talk honestly about what imbalance actually looked like for me. Not the dramatic version, the quiet one, where every hour had a job and none of them was just existing. I get into why the good things are the hardest to balance, why hyperfocus looks like discipline right up until it looks like burnout, and what's genuinely helped me since. I also share three questions that made me stop and think, and I try to answer them honestly, in real time: If the next year looked exactly like your last three months, would things be better or worse? If your life was a movie, what would people be screaming at the screen telling you to do? If someone met your friends before they met you, would you be okay with how you've shown up? No morning routines, no journaling homework. Just an honest conversation about drifting, noticing, and correcting. I hope you enjoy it Tom x Check out my instagram
