CineKuest Video

Hail! Be any of ye listening, scions of the ’80s, ’90s or somewhere in betweener? If so, it is very possible (if you’re lucky) that most of your childhoods were blessed with a (un)healthy dose of movies and crummy Lord of the Rings/Masters of the Universe fanmoviefics (just us?)…..From some (relative) classics, ultra-actionverse extravaganzas, comedy for your brown pants, all forms of medieval to modern (hur) horrors, and everything else in between (maybe), we will revisit a few of our favorite re-runs and a few new-runs. Have a listen.

Ep. 81: 12 Monkeys (How Does It Make Sense?)

Cinekuest Video Presents 12 Monkeys AKA The One Where We Wonder How It Makes Sense Time travel, questioning reality, eco-terrorist actions, looooooove, and Bruce Willis’ beautiful backside with a backdrop of Brad Pitt’s pre-Fight Club nuttiness are the driving force of 1996’s 12 Monkeys directed by Python alum who also directed a previous entry in our time travel miniseries, Terry Gilliam! A deadly virus has devastated humankind and 2036 is the year that prisoner James Cole (Willis) is volunteered to be sent back to 1996 to locate the virus before it mutates and wrecks humanity. However, things are not so straightforward for Cole which is most excellent for us viewers to attempt to suss out what the hell this movie is and how it’s supposed to work. Join Rey, Roland, and Daniel as they discuss the ins and outs of this well-received movie and whether or not this is indeed a movie about time travel! CHECK OUT ALL THE MOKUEST STUDIOS PROJECTS! Ep. 78: Time Bandits (That One Movie Where God is a Rotten Bastard)

Cinekuest Presents: Time Bandits AKA That One Movie Where God is a Rotten Bastard What do you get when Terry Gilliam needs money? One of the best “children’s” movies of all time! Jolly good! Meet Kevin, a young boy whose love for history goes largely ignored by his dopey parents and their own love of toaster ovens and the good ole’ American boob tube (not neglectful at all). Kevin’s call to adventure soon begins when a knight in shining armor (on horseback?!) crashes through his closet and fucks off into…the bedroom forest? The next night six little people (angels? no~wai) crash into his room and…GOD…chases Kevin and company through a hole in time. Thus begins a wonky time-heist through time–embarking on an adventure with famous figures such as little-big-man Napoleon Bonaparte (Ian Holm), Jolly Smooth Robin Hood (John Cleese), King Kickass Agamemnon (Sean Connery) and they even enjoy a brief, brief cruise on the Titanic (spoiler–the ship doesn’t make it). All the while, Kevin and the Time Bandits (shotgun band name!) are fleeing a spooky AF floating head (no, really…GOD) as well as the literal Incarnation of Evil himself. Can Kevin and crew evade the tribulations of time traveling, supernatural forces, and make away with all the sweet looty-booty? Or will Evil finally obtain the knowledge of computers and wreck all our shit as we know it? Join Rey, Roland, and Daniel as they discuss this classic of time travel (is it time travel though?) from one of the great minds behind MF’in Monty Python! As a part of the Time Enforcement Commission, Walker is a one man mountain of pain kick punching through time to stop rogue time-weebs from going back and investing in google and making bets with an almanac. Unfortunately, the guys in charge of the TEC aren’t too keen on keeping time nice and neat. That costs money, y’know? Gotta think of the deficit....tax payers...budgetary….politicking.
