    S06E09 | Louise Porton | The Murders of Lexi Draper and Scarlett Vaughan

    In the ninth episode of British Murders Season 6, I tell the story of Louise Porton. Between January and February 2018, Louise Porton killed her only two children. Lexi Draper was 3 years old, and Scarlett Vaughan was 17 months. After trying and failing to pin the sisters' deaths on natural causes, Louise was finally arrested in January 2019, and her trial took place that summer.     S06E08 | Gary Allen | The Murders of Samantha Class and Alena Grlakova

    In the eighth episode of British Murders Season 6, I tell the story of Gary Allen. In late 1997, Gary murdered 29-year-old mum-of-three Samantha Class in Hull, East Yorkshire. He was acquitted of her murder in early 2000. Just after Christmas 2018, Gary killed once more. This time, he murdered 38-year-old mum-of-four Alena Grlakova in Rotherham, South Yorkshire. His trial for both murders began in 2021.     Interview #13 | Steven Keogh (Former Detective Inspector)

    I welcome Steven Keogh to the show in this interview episode. Former Detective Inspector Steven Keogh joined the Metropolitan Police in 1991, spending most of his 30-year career as a detective. He joined Scotland Yard's elite Anti-Terrorist Branch in 2002, where he spent three years investigating terrorism. In 2005 he received a commendation from the then Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis, Sir Ian Blair, for his work in the aftermath of the London 7/7 Bombings. In 2009 he joined Scotland Yard's Murder Investigation Team, where he remained for 12 years, building up a vast knowledge of what it takes to catch killers and bring them to justice. After retiring from the police in 2021, Steven created 'Murder Academy', the world's first school dedicated to educating true crime fans on how murders are solved.     S06E07 | Anthony Arkwright | The Wath upon Dearne Spree Killer

    In the seventh episode of British Murders Season 6, I tell the story of Anthony Arkwright. In August 1988, Anthony murdered Stasys Puidokis, Raymond Ford and Marcus Law in 56 hours and was suspected of having killed Elsa Konradite. In the middle of his sadistic killing spree, he was arrested on suspicion of robbery but was released only to go and kill again. He was initially given a life sentence in 1989 with a minimum term of 25 years before his sentence changed to a whole life order in 1990.     Thomas Montgomery | The Murder of Brian Barrett | Killer British Murder Stories Vol. 5 Feat. Bobbie Holmes

    In the fifth volume of Killer British Murder Stories, I am told the story of Thomas Montgomery by Bobbie Holmes of Killer Stories Podcast. On September 15, 2006, 46-year-old Thomas Montgomery murdered his 22-year-old co-worker Brian Barrett in the car park outside their work. The two men were involved in an online love triangle story you must hear to believe. Thomas was sentenced to 20 years in prison for the murder. The media refer to this case as the 'Talhotblond' murder, and Courtney Cox later directed a TV movie adaptation of the story.     S06E05 | David Heiss | The Murder of Matthew Pyke

    In the fifth episode of British Murders Season 6, I tell the story of David Heiss. German-born David became obsessed with 21-year-old Nottingham-based student Joanna Witton after the pair met in 2007 through a war gaming website Joanna and her boyfriend, 20-year-old Matthew Pyke, had created. Despite being rejected by Joanna, David persisted with his obsession. He even made two unannounced visits to the couple's Nottingham flat after flying to the UK from Germany in the summer of 2008. Things grew so heated between the two men that David flew to the UK one more time in September 2008 and brutally murdered Matthew, stabbing him 86 times in the process.     Interview #12 | John Barlow (Author)

    I welcome John Barlow to the show in this interview episode. After leaving school, John worked as a cabaret musician for several years, then read English Literature at Cambridge University, followed by postgraduate research into Language Acquisition at Hull University. He then worked as a university teacher until 2004 before moving to Spain to write full-time. John's first published work, the novella 'Eating Mammals', won the Paris Review's Discovery (Plimpton) Prize in 2002. Apart from writing fiction, John has also worked as a ghostwriter, journalist and translator. He has written for The Washington Post, Slate.com, The Philadelphia Inquirer, Penthouse, Departures Magazine and The Big Issue, and was a feature writer for the award-winning food magazine Spain Gourmetour.     S06E04 | Iain Scoular | The Murders of Catherine McChord and Elizabeth Walton

    In the fourth episode of British Murders Season 6, I tell the story of Scottish double murderer Iain Scoular. Between October 1, 1982, and December 2, 1982, Iain Scoular murdered 36-year-old taxi driver Catherine McChord and 48-year-old midwife Elizabeth Walton in Cambuslang, Scotland. Initially, the police did not link the two murders. They had no suspects until Iain strolled into the police caravan HQ and told them he'd seen a stranger acting suspiciously on the night of Elizabeth's murder. In a bizarre turn of events, Iain's mum Jean's testimony inadvertently led to her son's capture. Iain was handed two life sentences on June 6, 1983, with a minimum term of 20 years.     S06E03 | Stephen Port | The Grindr Killer

    In the third episode of British Murders Season 6, I tell the story of Stephen Port, dubbed by the media as "The Grindr Killer". Between June 2014 and September 2015, Stephen used online dating sites such as Grindr, Sleepyboy.com and FitLads to meet young, gay men whom he drugged, sexually assaulted and killed. Despite systematic failings by the local police force, Stephen was finally caught and arrested in October 2015 and was handed a Whole Life Order by Mr Justice Openshaw on November 25, 2016. The 'Grindr Killer' case is very controversial regarding how the police handled the investigations into the deaths of Anthony Walgate, Gabriel Kovari, Daniel Whitworth and Jack Taylor. The police initially disregarded their respective deaths as being non-suspicious when, in fact, Stephen Port had murdered them all.     Interview #11 | Her Honour Wendy Joseph QC (Former Old Bailey Judge)

    I welcome Her Honour Wendy Joseph QC to the show in this interview episode. Until March 2022, Wendy was a judge at the Old Bailey, sitting on criminal cases, trying mainly allegations of murder and other homicide. She read English and Law at Cambridge, was called to the Bar by Gray's Inn in 1975, became a Queen's Counsel (QC) in 1998 and sat as a full-time judge from 2007 to 2022. When she moved to the Old Bailey in 2012, she was the only woman amongst sixteen judges and only the third woman ever to hold a permanent position there. She was also a Diversity and Community Relations Judge, promoting understanding between the judiciary and many different sectors of our community, particularly those from less privileged and minority groups. She also mentors young people from various backgrounds who hope for a career in law and has a particular interest in helping women.     S06E02 | Rosdeep Adekoya | The Murder of Mikaeel Kular

    In the second episode of British Murders Season 6, I tell the tragic story of the murder of Mikaeel Kular. In January 2014, 3-year-old Mikaeel passed away through the night due to several days' worth of beatings from his mother, Rosdeep Adekoya. Rather than take Mikaeel to the doctor, Rosdeep kept him at home as she feared the bruises all over his body would raise suspicions. Initially, Rosdeep told the story that Mikaeel had disappeared through the night and urged the police and public to help her find him. They had no idea Rosdeep had buried him inside a suitcase in the woods of Fife.     Interview #10 | Dr Richard Shepherd (Former Forensic Pathologist)

    I welcome Dr Richard Shepherd to the show in this interview episode. Richard trained as a doctor at St George's Hospital medical school at Hyde Park Corner, qualifying in 1977, and then completed his postgraduate training as a forensic pathologist in 1987. He is also an experienced Senior Lecturer and Professor who has taught at universities around the world and lectured to professional audiences at national and international conferences. Richard advised on the management of UK fatalities following the September 11 attacks and was the forensic pathologist expert for the Bloody Sunday Inquiry and the death of Princess Diana. He was also the pathologist who carried out autopsies on the victims of the 1987 Hungerford massacre and the killer Michael Ryan.     S06E01 | Felix Spicer | The Murders of William and Henry Spicer

    In the first episode of British Murders Season 6, I tell the story of Felix Spicer. In the early hours of May 25, 1890, Felix murdered two of his children whilst they slept before attempting to murder their mother, Mary. The couple's relationship was approaching its end, and Felix refused to allow the separation to happen. After being found guilty and sentenced to death, infamous British executioner James Berry hanged Felix on August 22, 1890.     "The Muswell Hill Murderer" Dennis Nilsen Pt. 2: The Murders

    In the season 5 special of British Murders, I'm telling the story of "The Muswell Hill Murderer" Dennis Nilsen. Nilsen was arrested on suspicion of murder in February 1983 after some of the other tenants at 23 Cranley Gardens called in a plumber to deal with their blocked drains. The plumber found pieces of human flesh and bones in an outside maintenance hole and the waste pipe leading out of Nilsen's attic flat. While en route to the police station, Nilsen told the officers that he thought he had killed 15 or 16 people. In the first episode of this two-part special, I discussed Nilsen's background and upbringing, including his time in the Army and the Metropolitan Police.     In the season 5 special of British Murders, I'm telling the story of "The Muswell Hill Murderer" Dennis Nilsen. Nilsen was arrested on suspicion of murder in February 1983 after some of the other tenants at 23 Cranley Gardens called in a plumber to deal with their blocked drains. The plumber found pieces of human flesh and bones in an outside maintenance hole and the waste pipe leading out of Nilsen's attic flat. While en route to the police station, Nilsen told the officers that he thought he had killed 15 or 16 people. In the first episode of this two-part special, I discuss Nilsen's background and upbringing, including his time in the Army and the Metropolitan Police.     "The Amityville Killer" Ronald DeFeo Jr. with Lorraine Purdon of American Murder Stories

    In this episode of British Murders, I welcome Lorraine Purdon to the show to discuss the case of American mass murderer Ronald DeFeo Jr. On November 13, 1974, Defeo Jr. brutally murdered his mum, dad, brothers and sisters at their shared home in Amityville, New York. He was handed six sentences of 25 years to life and died aged 69 on March 12, 2021. His case inspired the book and film versions of The Amityville Horror.     S05E10 | The 'Beauty in the Bath' Murder of Cynthia Bolshaw

    In the tenth and final episode of British Murders Season 5, I tell the tragic story of Cynthia Bolshaw. Cynthia was murdered in her luxury bungalow in Heswall, the Wirral, on October 8, 1983, and her body was placed face down into 18-inch deep bathwater. Police had no idea who the culprit was until advances in DNA technology led them to a suspect almost 16 years later in March 1999. John Edwin Taft was eventually convicted of Cynthia's murder but always proclaimed his innocence. Did the police catch the man responsible? Or was John Taft sent down due to being in the wrong place at the wrong time?
