Why We Should Treat Our Partners Like Toddlers

It seems like the height of patronising behaviour to look at an adult as if they were a child. But it can also be deeply sympathetic and generous. Enjoying our Youtube videos? But we rarely feel personally agitated or wounded by their behaviour. And the reason is that we don’t assign a negative motive or mean intention to a small person. We reach around for the most benevolent interpretations. We don’t think they are doing it in order to upset us. How to Pay Attention to Your Body

One of the most peculiar ideas of psychology is that trauma may end up ‘in the body.’ We can understand that a difficult event might be lodged somewhere in the mind - but how, and by what mechanism, might a trauma get remembered or stuck in our physical selves? Can a kidney ‘remember’ a sorrow? Can a wrist or a femur hold on to the memory of a punitive parent or a painful divorce? Enjoying our Youtube videos? Can a kidney ‘remember’ a sorrow? Can a wrist or a femur hold on to the memory of a punitive parent or a painful divorce? Why Comedy Signifies

We’re used to thinking that the purpose of comedy is just to help us relax and ‘have a good laugh’. But in fact, the mission of comedy is far grander and more world-changing.
