EASD 2026 Debrief: Type 2 Diabetes Care Moves Earlier & Foundayo Meets a Heart-Safety Bar
The Pharma Closeout's EASD 2026 Debrief covers the readouts from the European Association for the Study of Diabetes meeting in Milan that matter for drug, device and payer strategy. The new ADA/EASD consensus reportmoves GLP-1 and SGLT2 drugs earlier in type 2 diabetes care, potentially from diagnosis, and prefers weight-lowering drugs for people with overweight orobesity. Lilly's ACHIEVE-4 put its oral GLP-1 pill Foundayo against insulin and met a heart-safety bar. Real-world data arrived from Novo on stepping up semaglutide versus switching, from Abbott on continuous glucose monitors, and from a Nordic study on semaglutide and pancreatic cancer. Plus the journal papers on retatrutide, survodutide and petrelintide, type 1 diabetes screening in children across Europe, and what to watch: Lilly and Novo results and ObesityWeek.
