How the Netherlands Functions as One Giant City

What if an entire country could function like one massive, hyper-efficient city? Daniel Torres breaks down how the Netherlands has basically become a 16,000-square-mile urban experiment that's redefining what density can do for quality of life. On Proof Positive, we explore how 17.4 million Dutch people live at 421 people per square mile without feeling cramped. You'll discover why the Randstad region packs nearly half the population into just 20% of the land, learn how daily bike commutes averaging 2.6 kilometers actually work when 67% of the population lives in cities, and understand why Dutch infrastructure costs 40% less per person than sprawling countries. This isn't just about bikes and windmills - it's about rethinking what modern living can look like. 📍 Chapters: [00:00] Introduction with Daniel Torres [01:30] The Netherlands as one giant metropolis [04:00] How 421 people per square mile actually works [07:00] The Randstad effect and smart density [10:00] Why infrastructure gets cheaper, not more expensive [12:00] Lessons for cities everywhere 🔍 Topics: Netherlands urban planning, population density, Dutch cities, urban design, sustainable transportation, city infrastructure ⭐ Follow Proof Positive for more deep dives into how the world really works!

* Vært: Bo Østlund * Musik: 'Du Er'/Søren Huss (KODA-licens) 'Feathers in the Wind'/Sight of Wonders (Epidemic Sound Music License)

Delivering Aid To Afghanistan: Honeymoon in Kabul

Honeymoon in Kabul is an inspirational documentary which follows newly weds, midwife Maggie Haertsch and clown doctor Jean Paul Bell, on their whirlwind mission to take medical aid and humour to the children of Kabul. Maggie and Jean Paul arrive in Kabul amidst riots and discover that their precious cargo of advanced medical equipment is strewn over a dirty hospital floor, useless in a country where electricity is unreliable and thousands of children are dying of malnutrition and dysentery every year. Uploaded 16-12-17 The film explores the responsibility and power of the individual to make positive change in society, and the politics of aid and charity, asking whether well-intentioned amateurs can actually make any difference in a country racked with troubles and visiting one of Afghanistan’s most respected political activists and parliamentarians. As Jean Paul entertains gun-wielding Afghans, nervous American soldiers, and sick children, the film also investigates the role of humour in the face of adversity and its potential to unify and transcend race, class and culture. Lucky to leave Afghanistan alive, Maggie and Jean Paul take us on a hair-raising and fascinating journey which shows that the delivery of aid in Afghanistan is as complex and delicate as any second marriage.
