Two PhDs on a Pod

Viome

Two PhDs on a Pod is where cutting-edge science meets real-world health.

Hosted by Momo Vuyisich, PhD (Founding CSO of Viome) and Guru Banavar, PhD (Founding CTO of Viome), the podcast explores the intersection of biology, artificial intelligence, and personalized nutrition. Together, they break down the complex science behind how our bodies actually work—and what that means for living longer, healthier lives.

Momo, a systems biologist, has focused on the biochemistry of the human body and the trillions of microbes that live within us. Guru, an AI and data science expert, develops computational systems that make sense of massive biological datasets. Together, they bring two complementary perspectives required to understand and translate the complexity of human biology and how it impacts health.

Each episode will explain in simple terms the dynamic biology that makes each of us unique, and provide practical advice on how to apply these insights in daily life.

What the Most Measured Human Can Teach Us About Health

Dr. Michael Snyder of Stanford may be the most measured person in the world. He joins hosts Momo Vuyisich, PhD and Guru Banavar, PhD to explore what deep, continuous data reveals about our health — how he predicted his own diabetes, why microbial activity beats a list of microbes, how wearables can flag trouble before symptoms, and what a future of at-home measurement could look like. Plus food, hormones, and the science behind the latest health headlines.

    Gut Health PRO

Your gastroenterologist can spot a polyp, but what about the bloating, pain, and irregularity that fill most GI visits? Hosts Momo Vuyisich and Guru Banavar talk with gastroenterologist Dr. Michael Bass about Viome's Gut Health Pro: why measuring microbial activity (not just which bacteria are present) reveals what's actually driving symptoms, how food modulates the gut, and what the science says about treating the root cause instead of guessing.
