Coach & Writer Brad Stulberg On Attributes Of Successful Individuals, Groundedness, Chasing Dreams, & Much More

In sixth grade, I came across a book called “Peak Performance” by authors Steve Magness and Brad Stulberg. This book fascinated me. So when the same two authors came out with their next book “The Passion Paradox” I read that too. This book completely transformed the way I thought and was instrumental in me starting this very podcast! So when the opportunity to interview Brad came up, I was beyond stoked. Brad is a man of many talents. He is one of the best public speakers I’ve ever heard of, one of my favorite authors, and is an excellent human being. While I expected the interview to go well, it exceeded my exceptions. Brad is easily one of the most thoughtful guests I’ve ever had on the show. He is wise beyond his years and knows the science of high-performing individuals at a level that I’m not sure many people can comprehend. This is one of my favorite podcasts I’ve recorded, but also one in which I personally grew the most. The subjects that Brad dives into are meaningful and helpful in a plethora of subjects. If you were to listen to one podcast this week, I encourage you to carve out 45min of your time to listen to this one. I'm immeasurably confident that you'll be impacted in a positive way by the subjects discussed. Lastly, give Brad a follow on Instagram. The content he posts daily is invaluable. THE CALL ROOM With Lex & Leo Young | Episode 4: How Maurten Can Help You Reach Your Goals | Science Class With Brian Livingston

Have you ever wondered "What are some of those 1% things I can do to become a better runner?" Well, as my guest Brian Livingston scientifically describes, one of these things is fueling. And in my opinion, fueling may be a lot more than a 1% difference. Being properly fueled not only puts you at an advantage, but is actually necessary to perform well in the first place. As Brian so eloquently describes, Maurten can be that proper fuel for your gas tank. In this episode you will learn: * The difference between Fueling & Hydration * Why carbohydrates are crucially important for athletes * The science behind how Maurten works and why it's superior to every other fueling brand * Why it's important to fuel for training and even distances as short as 1500m * The benefits a younger runner can gain by using Maurten's products I hope you all enjoy science class with Brian Livingston! This one was a blast to record, and Lex, Leo, and I are all very passionate about how well Maurten's products work. Robert Brandt Retires: An Exit Interview With Robert On His Decison To Take A Step Away From The Sport Of Running

“To put it succinctly, I’m ready to hang up the spikes and dive into those other passions. I’m just excited to dive into my career and build a life beyond running.” A personal note: Robert has been one of my favorite runners since I first got into running. His grit and determination are on full display when he trains and races. His no-BS attitude, but yet kind heart has always been attractive to me. From the minute I first talked to Robert I was immediately impressed by his sincerity, kindness, and openness. I very rarely scream at the TV, but in the 2021 NCAA 10k championships, I found myself doing exactly that with 100m to go. Why was I displaying emotion at an event I had no control over? Because I know Robert and how hard he works and how badly he wants to win at whatever he does in life. Similarly, when I first found out that Robert was taking a step back from the sport of running, I shed a tear or two. While I’ll be sad to see his absence from the sport I cherish, I know he will take his passion, determination, and grit that he learned from running and apply to this next stage of his life. As the saying goes, “When you close a door another one opens”. So thank you, Robert. Thank you for all you’ve done to push our sport forward. Thank you for being unabashedly yourself. Thank you for the countless kids you’ve inspired to take up this sport. Thank you for leaving the sport better than you’ve found it. Clemson’s Makenzie Steele Talks About Running In The NCAA, GoodFoodGoodRun, And Much More!

On this week’s episode of the podcast, I have the great privilege of speaking with Makenzie Steele. Makenzie is an accomplished NCAA DI runner who competes for the University of Clemson. Makenzie got a late start in the sport of running, but once she discovered it she never looked back. Makenzie also created the highly successful “goodfoodgoodrun” account. There she has amassed thousands of followers and millions of views. She uses this platform to advocate for sports nutrition and “making eating healthy and fun so you don’t have to”. In this episode, Makenzie and I do a deep-dive into her running career and her future goals. We also talk about her Instagram account and why she started it and the ways in which she’s grown as a person since its creation. Lastly, we answer your unique listener questions!
