The Mental Healness Podcast

Lee Hammock

Welcome to the Mental Healness Podcast, hosted by yours truly, Lee Hammock. If you're new here I have NPD (Narcissistic Personality Disorder) and I've been in therapy for the last 8 years learning how to deal with it and live a better life. From the start I've offered you the rare POV of a diagnosed narcissist but NOW I'm switching it up a little bit. I'm interviewing others that are dealing with their own mental health journeys and those that have dealt with toxic relationship dynamics as well. I'm still sharing my POV just sharing others as well. Collabs ✉ partnerships@mentalhealness.net

What Is Narcissistic Abuse? The Signs You Need to Know From a Diagnosed Narcissist!

What is narcissistic abuse, and how can you recognize it in a relationship, family, friendship, or workplace? In this video, Lee Hammock explains common patterns associated with narcissistic abuse, including love bombing, gaslighting, manipulation, blame shifting, control, isolation, devaluation, and emotional abuse. You will also learn why this pattern can leave people confused, anxious, disconnected from themselves, and questioning their own reality. Narcissistic abuse is not a formal clinical diagnosis, and not every harmful person has narcissistic personality disorder, but repeated abusive behavior still deserves to be taken seriously. If you recognize these patterns and feel unsafe, prioritize support, boundaries, and local safety resources. Why an Abusive Person Breaks Up With You First

Why do abusive people suddenly break up with you, discard you, or move on as if you never mattered? In this video, Lee Hammock explains how a toxic or narcissistic person may leave when they are losing control, being held accountable, facing consequences, or seeking new validation. The discard can be used to punish you, create confusion, provoke you into chasing them, or make them feel powerful again. Their decision to leave does not erase the abuse or prove you were not enough. Learn how to stop chasing closure from someone who may use the breakup itself as another form of control. How Do Abusive People Act When They Realize You're Leaving For Good?

What happens when an abusive or toxic person realizes you are leaving for good? In this live discussion, Lee Hammock talks about common reactions such as love bombing, guilt trips, promises to change, anger, blame shifting, smear campaigns, threats, and attempts to regain control. Not every person will react in the same way, but changes in behavior and escalation should be taken seriously. If you are planning to leave and feel unsafe, consider creating a safety plan, documenting concerning behavior where safe to do so, and reaching out to trusted local resources. Why a Narcissist Refuses to Say Anything Nice About You

Why do narcissists struggle to compliment the people closest to them? In this video, Lee Hammock explains how withholding praise, affection, and validation can become part of a toxic relationship dynamic. A narcissistic person may minimize your accomplishments, criticize you after a compliment, praise strangers while ignoring you, or make you feel like you must earn basic kindness. Learn why their lack of affirmation is not proof that you are unattractive, unsuccessful, or unworthy. Recognizing this pattern can help you stop chasing validation from someone committed to withholding it. Why Narcissists “Forget” Everything They Did to You

Why does a narcissist claim they do not remember the things they said or did to hurt you? In this video, Lee Hammock explains how narcissistic people may use selective memory, denial, minimization, blame shifting, and revisionist history to avoid accountability. This is not always genuine forgetfulness it can be part of a larger pattern that makes you doubt your own memories and feelings. Learn why arguing for an admission often keeps you stuck and how to focus on the pattern instead of chasing validation. Their refusal to acknowledge the harm does not erase what happened to you. In this video, Lee Hammock explains how a narcissistic or controlling person may fear being replaceable and try to create emotional, financial, sexual, or practical dependence. Learn why withholding affection, delaying support, rushing commitment, controlling choices, and creating obstacles can make someone feel powerful or needed. This pattern is not love or partnership. Why Do You Keep Choosing Unhealthy Partners and Relationships!?

Why do some people keep choosing toxic, narcissistic, or emotionally unavailable partners? In this video, Lee Hammock explains how childhood patterns, trauma bonds, familiar dysfunction, love bombing, low self trust, and the hope of finally being chosen can shape relationship choices. You may not be attracted to pain itself, but you might be drawn to a dynamic that feels familiar or that promises validation. Learn how to recognize these patterns, rebuild your standards, and choose relationships that feel safe instead of chaotic. Why do abusive people want to hurt you on purpose?

Why do abusive people hurt you on purpose, then blame you for the pain they caused? In this video, Lee Hammock explains how control, punishment, shame, resentment, emotional immaturity, and the need to feel powerful can drive intentional cruelty in toxic relationships. Learn why an abuser may target your insecurities, dismiss your feelings, provoke reactions, or hurt you right when you need support. Their behavior is not proof that you are unlovable or that you caused the abuse. Understanding the pattern can help you stop internalizing their choices and protect your peace. What happens when you go no contact with a narcissist or toxic ex? In this video, Lee Hammock explains why no contact is a boundary for healing rather than a way to punish someone. Lee also explains why breaking no contact can restart the cycle and make it harder to heal. Hayden Panettiere’s Story Shows How Toxic Relationships Trap You

Hayden Panettiere’s story has renewed difficult conversations about domestic abuse, toxic relationship cycles, family estrangement, and the complicated reasons people stay connected to harmful people. In this video, Lee Hammock discusses documented reports about Panettiere’s on-and-off relationship with Brian Hickerson, who pleaded no contest in 2021 to two felony counts involving corporal injury to a spouse or cohabitant, as well as the public estrangement between Panettiere and her mother, Lesley Vogel. This is not a claim that either person caused Panettiere’s death, which remains under investigation.
