God-Sized Stories with Patricia Holbrook - Raising Gen Alpha: How to Parent Kids Growing Up in an AI World

Send us Fan Mail What does it mean to raise children who have never known a world without social media, smartphones, the internet, and now artificial intelligence? In this episode of God-Sized Stories with Patricia Holbrook, Patricia talks with Dave Boden, author of Raising Gen Alpha: Helping Kids Navigate Everything from Anxiety to AI, about the generation growing up in the middle of an extraordinary cultural and technological shift. Dave is an author, educator, former pastor and youth worker, parent, and leader of Grace Foundation, a schools-based charity in England. His work with thousands of young people has given him a unique perspective on the challenges facing Gen Alpha. Together, Patricia and Dave discuss: • Who Gen Alpha is and what makes them different • Anxiety and mental health among today's children • The impact of COVID on the next generation • Social media and hyperconnectivity • Parenting children in an AI-driven world • Helping kids develop wisdom and discernment • Identity, purpose, and belonging • Why real relationships matter more than ever • How parents can maintain their influence • What schools and educators are learning • Why the church needs to understand and reach Gen Alpha • The spiritual curiosity emerging among today's young people Dave's book uses the ALPHA framework—Anxious-minded, Leading influencers, Pandemic-impacted, Hyperconnected, and AI-shaped—to help adults understand the experiences shaping this generation. But this conversation isn't ultimately about fear. It's about understanding. It's about learning to see the world through the eyes of the children we're trying to love and lead—and remembering that even in an increasingly artificial world, our children still need something deeply human: real relationship, wisdom, belonging, and hope. And for Christian families, there is good news. Jesus is still good news for the next generation. Interested in the topic? Leading The Way Radio Podcast - What is Faith?

What does real faith look like? In this foundational message, Dr. Michael Youssef points to Elijah, Abraham, Rahab, and other believers in Scripture to show that faith is more than emotion or positive thinking. Biblical faith rests on the character of God and the authority of His inerrant Word. It trusts when circumstances are uncertain, obeys when the cost is high, and moves forward before the outcome is visible. This episode calls believers to: Reject fear and self-reliance, Trust God’s promises without compromise, Obey even when the path is unclear, Sacrifice comfort for faithfulness, Live with confidence in the living Lord Jesus Christ. The saints of Scripture were not superhuman. They were just like us. What set them apart was faith that trusted God enough to act. Scripture Focus: Hebrews 11:1–3; James 5:17–18 If today’s teaching stirred a question, burden, or need for prayer, you don’t have to walk through it alone. Jacob finally gets the family he wanted — and finds it's nothing like he imagined. It's a message of hope for anyone whose life has turned out very differently than planned: God's purposes can't be derailed, even by our own dysfunction. Amazing Promises to Dysfunctional People: In this 20-message series, Dr. John Neufeld walks through the dysfunctional family of Abraham found in Genesis 25-36, uncovering the relational brokenness at its core. The Crosswalk Devotional: A Daily Devotional Chris... - When You Can't Pull Yourself Together

When life feels too heavy to handle, it can be tempting to believe we need to pull ourselves together and figure everything out on our own. But Psalm 61 gives us a different path. Sarah Frazer reminds us that when we are overwhelmed, weary, or facing a storm beyond our ability to control, we can cry out to God and trust Him to be our refuge. David’s prayer points us toward the “rock that is higher” than ourselves—a place of safety we cannot reach through our own strength. Like Peter walking on the water, we may become overwhelmed when we focus on the storm instead of Jesus. Yet Christ remains our strong tower and our hope, even when the waves continue to crash around us. Highlights Why we don’t have to pretend that everything is okay when life feels overwhelming What Psalm 61 teaches us about crying out to God in the middle of a storm Why David describes God as the “rock that is higher” than himself How remembering God’s past faithfulness can strengthen our faith during new trials What Peter’s experience walking on water teaches us about keeping our eyes on Jesus How Jesus offers refuge when we simply cannot rescue ourselves Why God invites us to stop striving and trust Him with what is too big for us Want more encouragement throughout your week? Full Transcript Below: When You Can’t Pull Yourself Together By Sarah Frazer Bible Reading: “... lead me to the rock that is higher than I.” - Psalm 61:2 No one likes to admit they can’t do something. In a world filled with social media, fake news, AI images, and doctored photos, who is really telling the truth about how hard life can be? Yes, we have this sense of transparency from some people online, but we know, deep down, we don’t have the full story. No one shows all of their cares or reveals all of their struggles, sorrow, and grief. Even if these people share their sorrow, there is little hope for us who suffer silently. What if we can’t pull ourselves together? The place I have found to be completely honest, but also provide complete hope, is the Book of Psalms. In Psalm 61, we read an honest prayer, filled with heart-wrenching troubles, but it doesn’t end there. David, the author, gives us a path forward. As
