I am a person who lost 60 kg (132 pounds) and successfully kept it off. I will tell you exactly how I did it, and what it is like to live an intermittent fasting lifestyle. I cover my journey, about an ordinary Australian bloke who has found a way to lose weight that is sustainable. Along the way, I found some amazing health benefits as well. I interview dozens of others, who wanted to try it for themselves and have had similar success.

Episode 326 -Jim Peeler What 18 months of Maintenance Looks Like Living an Intermittent Fasting Lifestyle.

Jim Peeler lives in Hickory, a small city in North Carolina's foothills. He and his wife, Diana, have two adult children who both live in the mountains of western NC, and one grandson. Jim is a financial controller for a logistics company. Jim passed his two-year anniversary of fasting on February 1, 2026. This past year, Jim has completed his first year and a half of maintenance and offers great insight in this episode. Jim has struggled with weight issues at least since the 5th grade of elementary school, at the age of ten. He has lost hundreds of pounds over the years, using various methods, but has always regained even more once the diet ended. The hope is that intermittent fasting will hold the key to finally losing significant weight for good. Looking back, Jim realises that over his life he had reached a tipping point roughly every 10 years that prompted him to start a serious weight-loss attempt, with numerous attempts in between that never lasted very long. Jim was successful at losing weight in these serious attempts, shedding more and more pounds each time, but the diet rollercoaster led him to heavier weights with each try until he reached a maximum weight of 245 pounds in late 2018. And at only 5 feet, 4 inches, he was seriously morbidly obese. Through 2019 and 2020, he successfully reached150 pounds through calorie reduction and walking, but by 2024, he had once again risen to 215 pounds following a job change and the loss of his mother, among other stressful situations. He had heard of intermittent fasting some time before, but had never seriously considered it until he decided to give it a try in February 2024. Since then, he has lived a fasting lifestyle and is on the path to long-term maintenance, thanks to intermittent fasting. Graeme's Links to connect with me directly. Episode 325 Jaqui Lewis - A dedicated faster shares her very inspiring journey.

Jacqui Lewis fasting highway bio update. Came to intermittent fasting the usual circuitous route of Weight Watchers, counting calories, overexercising, and undereating. Discovered fasting through Gin Stevens ' fast-feast-repeat. That was in November 2021, and I never looked back. Since then, I have not missed one day of fasting with the exception of the day I had open-heart surgery. I have fasted through many vacations, many trips, a new job, a death in the family, and the memorial of my mom. Fasting is flexible for me and the greatest thing I’ve ever found. I went from 145 11/21 to 125 by spring of 22, also losing17 inches of fluff. I stay there at 125…now and then going up to the top of my range, 128. If I get up to the top of my range, I rein it in & pull back on candy, desserts, cookies and non-alcoholic beer. If I get too low, which I have dipped down to 121, I try to drink protein shakes in addition to my one meal a day. In the beginning, I clean fasted, and to this day I always clean fast. It took me two years to tolerate black coffee; now I love it. I still drink creamy coffee in my windows. My windows never get below 14 hours. That’s my absolute shortest, and I go anywhere from 18 to 22 hours on a normal day. I generally break my fast with creamy coffee and a handful of nuts. Sometimes I have a snack and then a meal; often, now that I started a new job, I have creamy coffee, nuts, and a meal and later a snack before I close my window Come and join our Patreon Community or book a one-on-one call with Graeme Graeme is available to work one-on-one with you, and you can book in with him at the website www.thefastinghighway.com To join Graeme's Patreon and get help every week in a group setting and through regular audio pieces exclusive to Patreon members, head to www.patreon.com/thefastinghighway His book is widely available on Amazon and all good online book retailers in Kindle, Paperback, and audiobook formats. Episode 323 Lisa Jasunas An Inspiring leader in the IF community shares her life update.

I’m a 39-year-old from Buford, Georgia. A wife, mother, and servant leader in the aluminium industry, navigating one of the busiest seasons of life while balancing a demanding career, family, and a commitment to living a life rooted in wellness, purpose, and joy. For decades, food was my comfort, and I struggled with metabolic illness and an unhealthy relationship with eating. In October 2019, as I honoured the 10-year anniversary of losing my son, Jacob, I made a decision that forever changed my life. I discovered clean intermittent fasting, and what began as a weight-loss journey became a complete transformation. Since then, I’ve lost +/- 165 pounds and reached the maintenance phase, but the greatest victory wasn't the number on the scale. I let go of destructive habits, rebuilt my relationship with food, learned to nourish my body through every season of life, and discovered the freedom that comes from focusing on what I can control. My journey became a complete renewal of mind, body, and spirit, replacing shame with confidence and limitations with strength. After living with PCOS and metabolic resistance for more than a decade, intermittent fasting helped me restore metabolic health, reduce inflammation, and finally break free from years of disordered eating and dieting. It didn't just change my body. It gave me my life back. Today, I'm passionate about encouraging others to invest in themselves because self-care isn't selfish; it's essential. In this episode, I share a personal life update, discuss intentionality, navigate inflammation after surgery, master portion control, and explain why intermittent fasting continues to give me my life back. Whether you're feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or simply ready for change, I hope my story reminds you that transformation is possible. It starts with one decision, one step, and the courage to believe your best chapter is still ahead. Born and raised in Southern California, she spent the early part of her career immersed in the fast-paced, high-stress world of stage management and event production. Like so many of us, she found herself caught in a frustrating, lifelong cycle of emotional eating and dieting protocols that just didn't last. Then, she discovered fasting. Her path wasn't an overnight success story; instead, it was an evolution. She spent a year and a half navigating the waters of 'dirty fasting,' trying to find her footing and figure out what worked. Episode 321 Michelle Montone -She Fasts and is Fabulous an Inspiring Leader in the IF Community Shares Her Story.

My story- I am a 44-year-old mom of 2 boys (ages 8&11) and wife to my wonderful husband for 14 years. We live in Lake Mary, FL (a suburb of Orlando). At the moment, I am a part-time Trainer at my gym. From 2022-2024, before having kids, I was a paralegal for 15 years. I started yo-yo dieting around age 16. Since then, I have struggled with my weight. In college, instead of the “freshman 15”, I gained about 40lbs… Fast forward to 2016-17 – I was pregnant now with my second son. I was gaining just like the first time, but at 28 weeks, I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes. Because I had to follow an extremely strict diet to control my blood sugar, I didn’t end up gaining as much. It was what came in the next 2 years that was the worst. I tried to go back to work (I am NOT the stay-at-home type) when my youngest was 7 months old. It was an absolute disaster. My husband got a big promotion 9 months later, and I was forced to quit my job and stay home with an infant and a 3-year-old in a town we had just moved to. I fell into a horrible depression and developed a pretty nasty sugar addiction...you know the kind, when you’re eating an entire bag of candy in hiding, trying to cover up the wrappers in the trash. I ate ultra-processed food constantly… fast food, cheeseburgers, and fries were at least a weekly occurrence. Over those 2 years, I gained another 25(ish) lbs. I am 5’3” and my highest weight was around 200lbs...although I’m not 100%, as I never weighed myself. I remember weighing 191 at a doctor's appointment in January 2020 (right before I started fasting). So many health issues started piling up at this point...I lived at the doctor’s office, but none could give me any answers....and not ONE mentioned weight loss, diet or lifestyle. I tried everything to lose this weight...I would lose 5-6 lbs, then it would come right back. This went on for a while before I accepted that this is who I was now and that I would be unhealthy and miserable. An old friend of mine had been telling me about IF for about a year at this point. I thought he was NUTS. How could anyone not eat for 16-20 hours?! I was someone who carried snacks in my purse long before I had kids because I was taught to keep your metabolism going, you should eat 6 times a day! Fast forward to January 2020...I’m getting my hair done and overhear the client next to me chatting about how she lost 30lbs doing IF. I went home that day and began researching. About a week into my journey, I ordered Delay, Don’t Deny and read it in about an hour – this book would completely change my life (followed by Feast Without Fear, Fast Feast Repeat and more!). I’ve lost 50 lbs, met my original goal of 140 lbs in late October 2020, and have been maintaining for over 2 years, bouncing between 135-140. Almost every single health issue I had before is gone now. The best for me, though- I have completely tossed diet mentality in the trash (along with my scale) and my eating has never been cleaner - out of choice! I love the flexibility and freedom of this lifestyle. Today, I am a “qualitarian”, meaning I only eat high-quality food and focus on a protein-based diet. I work out 6 days a week in a 125-degree infrared sauna because I WANT to and really want to be as strong as possible for the very big hormonal changes I am experiencing at 44. I LOVE sharing this freedom and occasionally still take clients, so the links for my socials are below ☺ h ps://www.instagram.com/mrs_shellee81?igsh=dGR5bTN0dzRvZmlo&utm_source=qr www. ktok,com/@mrsshelle0?

Episode 316 John Redpath A retired Teacher on a whole new learning journey with Intermittent Fasting.

I’m 66, and I live in Rugby. I was born here, left when I was 18 to go to university in Portsmouth, and then did my postgraduate studies and a master's in education. I moved to London and worked in North London as a class teacher in the Primary phase. I became a head teacher, or a school principal, by the age of 32, and then I became one of the head teachers in Britain who were sent into failing schools. So I was the headteacher of several very large schools, and at 56, I retired. Like most people, I did not make caring for myself a priority. We were placed in some very scary situations, but as professionals, we have to deal with them and accept all the responsibilities. I slept badly, I worried about everything and everyone, and I ate erratically. I could go all day without eating, then eat everything. Yet each day arrive at 6.30 am with a smile on my face and get ready for a new day!! I had no control, and buffets were a nightmare. I can’t have one biscuit!! I can stand and toast white bread until the cows come home.I can eat 5 doughnuts in 10 bites. I was 120 kilos with a belly and a round face, and I hated myself. I did all the diets and lost weight that always returned, plus more. Finally, I read Dr Fung's book, then Glenn Livingston's book on bingeing, then Gin Stephen’s and then you, and it’s changed my life. But I feel we underestimate the power of fake food and chemicals. With hindsight, walking away from recreational drugs, from smoking 40cigarettes a day, was easier than the pull of ultra-processed fake foods. I am back in Rugby because my Mum is 89 and housebound, and I can’t, in good conscience, not be around. So I’ve slipped into being a caregiver, which wasn’t the plan. I live with my partner, Juan, and we have been together for ten years. IF has helped me in so many other ways. I love the mental clarity, I feel positive and happy, every day feels like an education, and I’m learning about myself and finally putting my own needs first. If I want to be the best life partner or most helpful child to my Mum, then I need to take care. Episode 315 -Rick Olson -An incredibly inspiring story of transformation of the body and mind.

Bio by Rick Olson I’m an author, TEDx speaker, Distinguished Toastmaster, award-winning humorous speaker, and Salesforce Certified Professional. I’ve been married to the same wonderful woman for 35 years, and we’ve been through thick and thin together, literally and figuratively. My struggle with weight started early. My first diet was in 3rd grade, and by 6th grade, I was on NutriSystem at 200 pounds. That cycle of losing and regaining followed me into adulthood. About 10 years ago, everything came to a head when I landed in the ICU with a saddle embolism. I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, and sleep apnea, and left the hospital weighing 360 pounds. Since then, I have had some success with low-carb, keto, intermittent fasting, and ADF. I’d lose and get down to 280 or so, but I would end up gaining it back. I kept asking myself: I know what to do, so why can’t I do it? Everything began to shift in October 2024 when I attended a workshop called The Stories We Live By. It helped me see how deeply my identity was shaped by the story of “being fat.” For the first time, I approached change with curiosity instead of criticism. Istarted studying my own patterns. What worked, what didn’t. When did I have motivation, when did I lose it. Instead of following someone else’s plan, I built a system around how I’m wired. One key realisation: I thrive on external accountability. So instead of fighting that, I leaned into it and started documenting my journey publicly on my YouTube channel, @justbelessfat. Since launching in November 2025, I’ve lost about 50 pounds. More importantly, I’ve shifted from shame and frustration to a sense of daily progress. I still face challenges, but thanks to the lens of self-curiosity, I learn and adjust. Episode 313 Michelle Montone- A Conversation overheard in a hair studio that changed her life forever.

My story- I am a 44-year-old mom of 2 boys (ages 8&11) and wife to my wonderful husband for 14 years. We live in Lake Mary, FL (a suburb of Orlando). At the moment, I am a part-time Trainer at my gym. From 2022-2024, I had a podcast (Fast & Fabulous) & coached others to become Intermittent Fasters as well (still dabble in this from time to time)! Before having kids I was Paralegal for 15 years. I started yo-yo dieting around age 16. Since then, I have struggled with my weight. In college, instead of the “freshman 15”, I gained about 40lbs….When I graduated, I lost it by working out 7 days a week, calorie counting and depriving myself constantly. I didn’t eat meat, carbs, or sugar, and honestly, I was miserable. Before having kids, I was a paralegal for 15 years. I maintained (not so effortlessly) a healthy weight for about 4 years until I got married at age 30. This is when the weight started to pile on. I finally found comfort in a man who loved me for me, the comfort of marriage set in, and before I knew it, I put on about 20lbs. Then I became pregnant with our first son in 2014 and gained a good 60lbs, lost it all rather quickly after giving birth but this time by joining a weight loss MLM (so embarrassed of this!) and using supplements and body wraps…hundreds of dollars a month to sustain, and I lost only around 10lbs over the next THREE years! Fast forward to 2016-17 – I was pregnant now with my second son. I am 5’3” and my highest weight was around 200lbs...although I’m not 100% as I never weighed myself.I remember weighing 191 at a doctor's appointment in January 2020 (right before I started fasting). So many health issues started piling up at this point...I lived at the doctor’s office, but none could give me any answers....and not ONE mentioned weight loss, diet or lifestyle. I tried everything to lose this weight...I would lose 5-6lbs then it would come right back. A friend of mine invited me to Gin Stephen’s Delay Don’t Deny FB support group, where I lingered for about a week before deciding to start 1/24/20 and have been clean fasting every day since. Episode 312 -Rondi and Jay Jennings -A couple who fast together and their individual Pathways to the IF lifestyle.

Jay: After a diagnosis of Stage III kidney disease in 2018, I committed to a whole-food, plant-predominant diet, which includes seafood two to three times a week. The results were encouraging, as my kidney function and lipid profile improved dramatically. The switch also resulted in a 25-pound weight loss. When Rondi began intermittent fasting in 2020, I saw her positive results and began eating in an 18-6 or 19-5 window. I lost another 10 pounds and experienced an improvement in my HbA1c; I was no longer pre-diabetic. Three years ago, I transitioned to a one-meal-a-day regimen to get our eating schedules more in synch. Unless dining out with friends, we eat once each day at about 4 pm. My kidney filtration rate and creatinine reading have actually improved, which surprised my primary care doctor at my most recent annual physical. My nephrologist, who is also an IF devotee, took me off high blood pressure medicine six months ago, another very positive step. Intermittent fasting has improved my health in numerous measurable ways, and I will keep this eating pattern for the rest of my life. Rondi: In 2020, after a lifetime of working hard to keep my weight within the normal range, I discovered intermittent fasting. I quickly transitioned into a one-meal-a-day lifestyle. That meal normally consists of seafood, green vegetables, and usually a small dessert. Gradually, over several years, my weight came down to 135 pounds. My heaviest weight was 192, so my total weight loss was 57 pounds. I still have to watch my carb intake. Intermittent fasting changed my life, and I will be an OMAD-er for the rest of my life. Episode 311 Netta Gorman -Life After Sugar we talk about the sweet stuff and living an Intermittent Fasting Lifestyle.

Netta Gorman is the author of Break Free From Sugar Cravings. She used to joke that she had the world’s #1 sweet tooth. She was proud of being a chocoholic - in fact, chocolate was her best friend. Her comfort. Her reward. Every night, she’d declare the kitchen closed… then find herself back in the pantry five minutes later, unwrapping a chocolatey treat she had promised herself not to touch. By her mid-40s, Netta’s cravings were out of control. Her jeans were tight. Her stomach was bloated, and she was often constipated. She felt sluggish, and by 3 p.m., she needed a sweet snack just to function. Netta thought this was normal. She thought she just needed more discipline… more willpower. She’d tried portion control and being “good” all day so she could earn a treat at night. But she ended up out of control with her cravings more times than she can count. Eventually, Netta hit a point where she didn’t want food deciding how she felt, what she wore, how much energy she had, or how she felt about herself. But she didn’t want to give up her comfort foods! Unwillingly, Netta decided to experiment with cutting sugar and processed foods for two weeks. Just two weeks - no more! To be honest, she was scared. And she resisted. Why? Because she loved her chocolate and sweets! But Netta also dreamed of not being bothered by cravings, of having steady energy all day, and feeling confident around food. Those two weeks changed everything. Her energy started to come back. The bloating eased. Her digestion improved. The constant pull toward sugar softened. Her pants were a little looser. She wasn’t fighting with herself or her willpower anymore. And she started to feel like she had control over her life again. Now, Netta guides women in transforming their relationship with comfort foods and sugar because you deserve more than just a food plan. You deserve support, accountability, validation and a proven way to feel free from cravings. And this is exactly why Netta created the Freedom from Cravings Formula program, to help you break that cycle of cravings and emotional eating — so that you can feel comfortable in your body, confident in your choices, and finally trust yourself around food again. Episode 310 Stephan Koch -The first few months of living an IF lifestyle.

For me, intermittent fasting is a time travel machine. I started my weight loss journey (in the modern era) a few years ago. I’ve been overweight since I finished college in the mid 90’s, and though I used to run marathons, I did not run for about 20 years and gradually got heavier and Heavier through 2019, when I used the advice of a dietician to briefly lose about 20 pounds from 240 to 220, but then went back up when I couldn’t maintain my food habits. I got to be my heaviest soon after, when I ballooned all the way up to 257, which is the highest I ever remember being on the scale. I was extremely uncomfortable and not enjoying how my clothes fit– ’cause they didn’t. Though the exact timing is foggy to me, I chose to begin running again in early 2023, when I had gotten back down to 242. It was also around this time that I fully transitioned into a newcareer. My last career, though exciting, was not conducive to establishing a daily routine—a daily routine is very important for establishing a fitness routine and reducing friction in healthyhabits. My new career is as a carpenter, which I’ve been doing since 2020. My old career was as an ice sculptor–yes, I am that guy. Both careers allowed lots of physical activity, butmy new career was not seasonal–thus daily routine became possible. Therefore, a fitness journey became a reality. Running helped my state of mind and helped me lose weight—I steadily lost weight all the way down to 209-213 and then hit a plateau I could not get past. On October 13th of 2025, I had my annual Doctor’s appointment, where my Doc usually tells me my cholesterol is high, my A1C is high, and I’m pre-diabetic–only this time he didn’t say any of that. My cholesterol was fine, and my A1C wasn’t outrageous–maybe 6. This was the first Doctor’s appointment I remember where one of those wasn’t too high. He said to keep doing whatI was doing, but I said I can’t get past 209, so I’m thinking of trying Intermittent Fasting. He was supportive of the idea, saying he had to change the routine whenever he hit aplateau, so I thought to myself, I can try this (for 30 days). I can do anything for 30 days, so I started that day. Four days later, I said to myself–I feel so good, I think I can do this for the restof my life! Also, during that time, I fully immersed myself in all IF podcasts and YouTube videos. I listened to a lot of Gin Stevens’ podcasts, and that’s where I heard about your podcast and then listened to yours for a while–(which I appreciate as a man). The IF journey is individual for allof us, but I really wanted to hear about the experience of men since I cannot relate to anything related to menopause. I also watched a lot of Jason Fung on YouTube. I stopped eating breakfast–I just drank black coffee and went to work. At lunch time, I ate the lunch my wife had made for me, and at 5 pm, I went home and ate dinner—then I did it all over again the next day and the next. I started losing weight again right away–I was at 213 on October 13 and lost 2 pounds per week for the next month…Around December, I got to around 199, but December is filled with culinary delightsand hazards–I still fasted every day, but I ate richer and sweeter foods, making it throughthe holidays, maintaining my weight instead of gaining (which is what I’d do every other year). In January, when my food became more routine again, I started losing again. I got down to 193 at theend of January, and now I am at 191. I say IF is like a time travel machine because every week I am lighter than the week before, I have to look further back in time to find the last time I was that weight. I am encroaching upon 1996 when I was working my first job out of college. The weight loss is not quick on 16:8, 17:7, or 18:6, but it is fairly steady, with some weeks showing gains and a big loss, and some weeks showing little to no change. More in the episode.
