The Real Reason You're Still Stuck in Health Anxiety

Ready to stop battling worry, intrusive thoughts, difficult emotions, and nervous system activation? Explore the End The Anxiety Program and Monthly Recovery Coaching at https://anxietyguyprograms.com Description: Health anxiety can become more than a reaction to symptoms. Over time, the mind and nervous system can become conditioned to familiar states of fear, scanning, tension, and survival. In this episode, Dennis explores the emotional refractory period and how repeated emotional states can keep the system locked into familiar patterns, even when there is no immediate danger. When fear has been practiced for long enough, the body can begin to expect it, the mind can search for reasons to justify it, and ordinary sensations can quickly become interpreted through the lens of threat. We'll look at why health anxiety can feel so automatic, why reassurance often brings only temporary relief, and how repeatedly checking, monitoring, and anticipating symptoms can reinforce the very state you are trying to escape. Most importantly, you'll learn why recovery is not simply about convincing yourself that you are safe. It is about gradually teaching your system that it no longer has to return to the same familiar emotional environment of fear and survival. 3 Ways Your Inner Protector Keeps Anxiety Alive

Ready to stop battling worry, intrusive thoughts, difficult emotions, and nervous system activation? Explore the End The Anxiety Program and Monthly Recovery Coaching at https://anxietyguyprograms.com Description: In today's episode, we explore 3 ways your inner protector may be keeping anxiety alive: worry, anticipation, and regret. Your inner protector is constantly trying to keep you safe, prepared, and in control, but when it becomes overactive, it can keep you trapped in what might happen, what could go wrong, or what you wish you had done differently. We'll look at how worry feeds uncertainty, anticipation creates fear before anything happens, and regret keeps you emotionally tied to the past. The goal isn't to fight this protective part of you, but to recognize when protection has become overprotection and begin responding with more trust, flexibility, and presence. A powerful question to ask is: "Is this protecting me from something happening right now, or is it trying to protect me from uncertainty?" Anxiety & Grief: The Missing Piece in Your Recovery

Ready to stop battling intrusive thoughts, difficult emotions, and nervous system activation? Explore the End The Anxiety Program at https://anxietyguyprograms.com. Episode Description: In today's episode, we explore a piece of anxiety recovery that can easily be overlooked: grief. Grief doesn't always arrive as obvious sadness. It can build quietly through years of holding things in, staying strong, pushing forward, suppressing tears, and never fully allowing yourself to acknowledge what hurt. Over time, that emotional accumulation may show up as tension, exhaustion, nervous system activation, irritability, heaviness, or a sense that your body is carrying more than you consciously realize. We'll talk about what can happen when grief is finally given permission to move, through acknowledgement, emotional expression, crying, and allowing the younger parts of you to feel what they may never have felt safe enough to express before. Instead of immediately asking, "How do I get rid of this anxiety?", another powerful question may be: "What am I still carrying that I never allowed myself to grieve?" Healing may sometimes involve less fighting and more permission, permission to feel, acknowledge, express, and finally allow what has been held inside for far too long. ▶️ Listen and Subscribe 🍎 Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/health-anxiety-podcast-show/id1461441374 🎧 Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/79GbkgP2sxA8FJ97Qk1GKZ ▶️ YouTube: https://youtube.com/@theanxietyguy1 🌐 Anxiety Guy Podcast Episode Archive: https://theanxietyguy.com/podcasts/ 👥 About Dennis and Connect 📸 Instagram: https://instagram.com/theanxietyguy ▶️ YouTube: https://youtube.com/@theanxietyguy1 📘 Facebook: https://facebook.com/theanxietyguy 🌐 Official Website: https://theanxietyguy.com 📝 Disclaimer This podcast is for educational purposes only and does not constitute medical advice. Episode Description: In today's episode, we look at how people pleasing, suppressed emotions, performance, and repeatedly overriding your internal "no" may contribute to anxiety, tension, and exhaustion. Instead of always asking, "How do I get rid of this symptom?", try asking, "What did I override?" Safety may not only be calmness; it may also be honesty, expression, boundaries, and living more in alignment with what feels true to you. Anxiety and Burnout: What Is Your Body Trying to Tell You?

Ready for more clarity and less confusion around health anxiety? Rebuild trust in your body through daily guidance and nervous system retraining with the Health Anxiety Recovery Program. Start here: https://anxietyguyprograms.com Today's Episode on Anxiety and Burnout: What Is Your Body Trying to Tell You? What if some of the exhaustion you experience is not only about how much you are doing, but how much of yourself you are overriding while doing it? In today's episode, we explore the connection between anxiety, burnout, prolonged nervous system activation, people pleasing, emotional suppression, and repeatedly ignoring what your body is communicating. You may wake up feeling tired, tense, dizzy, heavy, or mentally drained and immediately assume you did too much physically. But another question may be more revealing: What did I override? Maybe you wanted to say no but said yes. Maybe you felt anger or resentment but stayed quiet. Maybe you kept performing, pleasing, smiling, or pushing forward while internally bracing. Over time, constantly overriding these internal signals can become biological work and contribute to prolonged activation. The body may first communicate quietly through tension, irritation, fatigue, resistance, or a simple internal feeling of no. When those signals are repeatedly ignored, the body may begin turning up the volume. The goal is not to analyze every sensation or allow symptoms to control your life. It is to become more honest and responsive to yourself. Sometimes that means resting, speaking up, asking for help, setting a boundary, or saying no. Other times it means recognizing fear while still moving toward something you genuinely want. Instead of immediately asking, "How do I get rid of this symptom?" ask, "What is my body actually showing me here?" And at the end of the day, ask yourself: "What is my body trying to tell me right now?" and "What has my body been trying to tell me all day?" ▶️ Listen and Subscribe 🍎 Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/health-anxiety-podcast-show/id1461441374 🎧 Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/79GbkgP2sxA8FJ97Qk1GKZ ▶️ YouTube: https://youtube.com/@theanxietyguy1 🌐 Health Anxiety Podcast Episode Archive: https://theanxietyguy.com/podcasts/ 👥 About Dennis and Connect 📸 Instagram: https://instagram.com/theanxietyguy ▶️ YouTube: https://youtube.com/@theanxietyguy1 📘 Facebook: https://facebook.com/theanxietyguy 🌐 Official Website: https://theanxietyguy.com 📝 Disclaimer This podcast is for educational purposes only and does not constitute medical advice. Why You're Still Anxious: A Deep Conversation About What Keeps Anxiety Alive

Ready for true clarity instead of more confusion? Rebuild trust in your body through daily guidance and nervous system retraining: 👉 Start the Health Anxiety Recovery Program ✨ Today's Episode: Why You're Still Anxious: A Deep Conversation About What Keeps Anxiety Alive In this powerful and deeply honest conversation with Julie, we explore why anxiety can continue even when you are doing everything you can to recover. This anxiety guy podcast episode goes far beyond symptoms. We uncover the hidden patterns, beliefs, reactions, and survival responses that can keep anxiety alive even when you understand anxiety intellectually and have spent years trying to overcome it. Through Julie's honest questions and personal experiences, we explore the urgency to recover, resistance towards symptoms, the need for certainty, the pressure to feel better, and the habit of constantly measuring whether recovery is working. You may have tried calming techniques, mindset work, reassurance, meditation, exposure, nervous system exercises, or countless methods designed to make anxiety disappear. Yet something may still feel stuck. The reason may not be that you are missing another technique. It may be that your nervous system is still receiving the message that your present experience is unacceptable, unsafe, or must immediately change. This conversation will help you recognise why your symptoms may not be the real problem. The deeper cycle is often created by the meaning attached to those symptoms and the fearful relationship that develops around them. When every sensation is monitored, judged, resisted, questioned, or treated as an emergency, the brain continues receiving the message that something is wrong. This episode is longer than my regular podcast episodes, but it is certainly worth the deeper listen. It may provide the clarity you have been searching for and help you understand what has truly been keeping anxiety alive. ▶️ Listen and Subscribe 🍎 Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/health-anxiety-podcast-show/id1461441374 🎧 Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/79GbkgP2sxA8FJ97Qk1GKZ ▶️ YouTube: https://youtube.com/@theanxietyguy1 🌐 Health Anxiety Podcast Episode Archive: https://theanxietyguy.com/podcasts/ 👥 About Dennis and Connect 📸 Instagram: https://instagram.com/theanxietyguy ▶️ YouTube: https://youtube.com/@theanxietyguy1 📘 Facebook: https://facebook.com/theanxietyguy 🌐 Official Website: https://theanxietyguy.com 📝 Disclaimer This podcast is for educational purposes only and does not constitute medical advice. Rebuild trust in your body through daily guidance and nervous system retraining: 👉 Start the Health Anxiety Recovery Program ✨ Today's Episode: Your Symptoms Aren't the Real Problem Health anxiety convinces you that your symptoms must disappear before you can finally feel safe. But the constant monitoring, resistance, and urgency to fix them may be what keeps your nervous system on alert. In this episode, I share the inner shift that changes how you respond to uncomfortable sensations. When you stop treating every symptom as a problem that must be solved immediately, you begin teaching your brain and body that the experience may be uncomfortable without automatically meaning danger. This, I believe is because health anxiety is rarely satisfied by information alone. In this episode of The Anxiety Guy Podcast we will explore what happens when the mind becomes dependent on outside confirmation before it feels safe in the body. You may know logically that you have been checked. You may have been reassured more than once. You may even understand that anxiety can create real physical symptoms. Yet something inside still asks, "But what if this time is different?" This episode will help you understand why reassurance can become part of the fear pattern, how the search for certainty keeps the nervous system on alert, and why true recovery requires something deeper than another answer. Inside this episode, we'll explore: Why reassurance can calm the mind briefly but fail to create lasting safety. How health anxiety teaches the brain to mistrust the body. Why repeated checking, researching, and asking can keep the alarm system active. How to begin responding to symptoms without turning them into threats. Why recovery is not about being 100% certain, but becoming more grounded in uncertainty. This conversation is for anyone who feels stuck in the loop of body scanning, Googling symptoms, asking others for reassurance, replaying doctor visits, or needing one more sign that everything is okay. Healing begins when you stop outsourcing safety to the next answer and begin rebuilding a steady relationship with yourself. What Your Anxiety Symptoms Are Really Asking From You

Use code Love30 today for 30% off at anxietyguyprograms.com and find the program that feels right for where you are in your healing journey. Episode Description: In today's episode of The Anxiety Guy Podcast, we explore one of the most overlooked parts of anxiety recovery: the inner connection to what you've been pushing away for so long. When anxiety symptoms, discomfort, fear, or exhaustion show up, the inner protector often wants to pull your attention toward fixing, analyzing, escaping, or "doing something about it." But what if the next step in healing isn't another technique, but a different relationship with what you feel? Today we'll talk about the practice of sitting with what is, in this very moment not as a way to force anxiety symptoms away, but as a way to finally stop abandoning the parts of you that have been asking for your presence. You'll learn why your symptoms of anxiety may be carrying a deeper message, how nervous system sensitivity and burnout can become conditioned over time, and why love doesn't always mean feeling warm and peaceful. Sometimes love simply means respecting what is here, without pushing it away. In this episode, you'll learn: Why the inner protector keeps pulling you away from being with your symptoms How "doing something about it" can sometimes keep the anxiety cycle alive Why allowing is not giving up, but reconnecting How the phrase "sit with what is, in this very moment" can become a recovery practice Why symptoms may be asking for connection rather than control Episode reflection: What part of you have you been trying to get rid of that may simply be asking you to finally be with it? The Truth About Tension: Why Anxiety Keeps Your Body Braced for Danger

Start your anxiety recovery today at anxietyguyprograms.com. Science backed programs designed to help you heal anxiety and regulate your nervous system for good. Use the code Gift30 to get 30% off for a limited time. Episode: In this episode of The Anxiety Guy Podcast, Dennis explores the truth about tension and why anxiety can keep the body braced for danger long after the original threat has passed. For many anxiety sufferers, tension is not just a tight jaw, stiff shoulders, chest tightness, muscle aches, or a restless body. It can feel like the body is constantly preparing for something bad to happen. The nervous system becomes so used to protecting, guarding, and anticipating danger that relaxation can almost feel unfamiliar or even unsafe. This episode looks at the deeper connection between anxiety, chronic tension, nervous system dysregulation, and the protective patterns that keep the body locked in survival mode. Rather than seeing tension as something to fight, fear, or urgently fix, Dennis shares a calmer way to understand it as a message from a body that has been trying to keep you safe. You'll learn why tension can continue even when you're mentally trying to relax, why the body often needs repeated safety signals before it softens, and how anxiety recovery becomes less about forcing the body to calm down and more about teaching it that it no longer needs to stay braced. This episode is for anyone who experiences anxiety symptoms such as muscle tension, chest tightness, jaw clenching, shallow breathing, body scanning, exhaustion, or the feeling of being constantly "on edge." The truth is, your tension is not proof that something is wrong with you. It may simply be proof that your nervous system has been working overtime to protect you. Today, we begin softening that pattern with understanding, patience, and a new relationship to the body. This is the shame of struggling in front of family, friends, partners, or people who simply do not understand what anxiety really feels like. Shame can make anxiety feel heavier than it already is. It can make us hide, over explain, pretend we are fine, or push ourselves to recover faster just so no one sees the struggle. But anxiety is not a character flaw. Anxiety is not weakness. Anxiety is often a nervous system that has learned to protect, brace, scan, and prepare for danger. In this anxiety guy podcast episode, Dennis shares how to soften shame, stop judging the anxiety response, and begin meeting yourself with more compassion. Healing does not begin with more pressure. Sometimes the most powerful message you can give your body is, "I am not falling apart. I am learning to feel safe again." The Hidden Cause of Anxiety Exhaustion

Start your anxiety recovery today at anxietyguyprograms.com. Science backed programs designed to help you heal anxiety and regulate your nervous system for good. Episode: Helping Your Body Feel Safe Again In this episode of The Anxiety Guy Podcast, we explore the hidden cause of anxiety exhaustion and why the body can stay tense, tired, and alert even when life looks calm on the outside. Anxiety exhaustion often begins when we start living under the guidance of fear instead of trust. Over time, the inner protector becomes the loudest voice in the mind. It convinces us to be careful with our energy, careful with our symptoms, careful with our emotions, careful with uncertainty, and careful with life itself. That constant carefulness is what drains the body. The nervous system never fully receives the message that it can soften because there is always something else to monitor, prepare for, or brace against. This is why many people feel tired even after resting. The body may be still, but inside there is tension, anticipation, analysis, and resistance happening almost nonstop. In today's episode, Dennis shares how healing begins when we stop forcing recovery and start creating a safer inner environment. You'll learn why stillness in the face of discomfort, more trust in your ability to heal, and slowing down when urgency takes over can help the nervous system begin to settle. This episode is about helping your body feel safe again, not through pressure or constant fixing, but through a more compassionate relationship with your nervous system. Start your anxiety recovery today at anxietyguyprograms.com. Science backed programs designed to help you heal anxiety and regulate your nervous system for good. Episode: Helping Your Body Feel Safe Again In this episode of The Anxiety Guy Podcast, we explore what it really means to complete the stress response and why so many anxiety sufferers feel stuck in a body that still believes danger is present, even when life appears calm on the outside. For many people struggling with anxiety, the mind keeps scanning, the body stays tense, symptoms feel louder, and rest can feel strangely uncomfortable. This is often not because the body is falling apart but because the nervous system has learned to stay prepared for threat. Dennis Simsek breaks this down in a practical, grounded way, helping you understand how the body can begin moving out of survival mode and back into a felt sense of safety. In today's episode, we explore 3 key points: How the stress response can become stuck in the body after prolonged anxiety, pressure, or emotional overwhelm. Why trying to think your way into safety often isn't enough when the body still feels activated. How gentle movement, emotional expression, breath, presence, and intentional rest can help your system complete what it has been holding. What you'll take away: You'll learn how to stop seeing your symptoms as the enemy and begin understanding them as signals from a protective system that is asking for completion, safety, and support. This episode is about helping your body feel safe again, not through force, pressure, or constant fixing, but through a more compassionate relationship with your nervous system. The Right Way to Handle Anxiety Symptoms (Key Lesson)

Take the guesswork out of your anxiety recovery today at anxietyguyprograms.com. In this episode, we're diving into one of the most misunderstood parts of anxiety recovery… your body symptoms. If you've been dealing with heart palpitations, dizziness, chest tightness, fatigue, or that constant feeling that something is "off" in your body, this episode is for you. Because here's the truth most people miss: It's not the symptoms themselves that are keeping you stuck… it's how you're responding to them. For years, I believed my symptoms meant something was seriously wrong. I monitored them, feared them, and tried everything to make them go away. And that's exactly what kept them alive. The Hidden Reason Your Anxiety Never Settles (Capacity)

Take the guesswork out of your anxiety recovery today at anxietyguyprograms.com. In this Anxiety Guy Podcast episode, Dennis Simsek explores a key factor most people overlook in anxiety recovery: capacity. Mental, emotional, and physical capacity and how much your nervous system is actually able to hold. If you've been doing the "right" things but still feel stuck in anxiety, overwhelm, fatigue, panic, or constant tension, this episode helps you see what's happening underneath the surface. Because when you consistently live above your capacity, your nervous system doesn't read life as stress, it reads it as survival. And anxiety becomes a baseline state rather than a temporary response. Many people with health anxiety, panic symptoms, burnout, dizziness, chest sensations, adrenaline surges, derealization, and symptom fear try to fix things through more thinking, control, or techniques. But when the system is overloaded, even good tools can feel ineffective. In this episode, you'll learn: why anxiety persists even with understanding how mental overload creates constant urgency why emotional buildup becomes your baseline how physical overextension signals danger to the body why your nervous system responds to total load, not isolated moments how living below your capacity supports regulation why healing is about reducing pressure, not adding effort If you're working with anxiety recovery, nervous system regulation, burnout, or symptom fear, this episode gives you a clearer way to understand what's actually driving it.
