    "Over Africa" by Steve Adams After a day’s layover, we boarded the 747 in Frankfurt for the overnight trip to Johannesburg. By now, I was a seasoned traveler, so the trip was exciting, but I was also anxious about what to expect in South Africa. I knew so little about the continent, but I had high expectations of semi-arid savannah and exotic wildlife. The flight out of Germany was uneventful as I ate the evening meal. Soon after, I settled in and enjoyed the view of city lights inching past us some 35,000 feet below. I dozed off and awoke sometime later to resume my night time scenery watching. Instead of the lights of civilization, there were only moonlit, rolling clouds lit by occasional, distant flashes of lightning. There, suspended in the quiet dark high over Africa, an old song crept into my mind. I found myself smiling in the dark, quietly blessing the rains down in Africa—some of life's best adventures begin simply by looking out the window.     August 18 Men are not women In the 1970s and on into the 1980s, the world was astounded and disgusted to learn that East Germany was using men in the women's competitions at the Olympics. Those men were given female hormones so that they would grow breasts and take on features of women, but they were still men. And they were winning gold medals as women. It was decided that all athletes would be checked for their chromosomes. Were they XX or XY? We discovered that the women were actually men. Common sense took over back then. We knew that God didn't design women to compete against men. So why is it that we have to go back again for such a fundamental and easy choice?     August 19 Social Insecurity at 67 In 1983, Congress passed a law that official retirement age will be 67 and that will begin this November. A lot of people are upset with that because they want to retire sooner than that. As for me, I'm 82 and I still work full time. Why? Because I love my job and my clients, my clients love me, and this is fun. But the thing is, Social Security ran out of money long ago. Congress has been using the funds there as their slush fund. And we've been using our retirement money for every stupid thing we could think of because it was there. But I do feel bad for those who have to wait to age 67 because we didn't have to wait. Seems like a strange name for a sitcom, but I think we have another name for Just Shoot Me. "Queers for Palestine." That is, the homosexual community is supporting Palestine in Palestine's fight against Israel. Don't American queers know what happens to queers in Palestine? Maybe they haven't been watching the news. In Islamic countries, queers are killed. But that isn't just in Arab countries. Last week in Berlin, a car driven by an Islamist drove through a crowd of homosexuals, killed two, and injured several more. Christians are being pilloried for asking homosexuals to leave their destructive lifestyle and embrace Jesus. But in Islam, they simply kill them.     August 17 Apathetic Christians killing America 95% of voting-age Muslims in America vote. 25% of voting-age Christians in America vote. What does that say about Christians? What does that say about Muslims? Tragically, a whole lot. Muslims care about bringing about Sharia, which will essentially ban Christianity, and our Judeo-Christian culture altogether. It will ban our Constitution. And it shows that Muslims deeply care about their faith.     April 13 Courage of Jefferson and Trump One of President Thomas Jefferson's first acts was to free the world from the Barbary Pirates. You know, the Marine Hymn to the shores of Tripoli. That's where the Muslims piracy was settled.All the European countries were paying tribute to the Barbary Pirates every year. And America was paying 20% of its revenue in tribute to the Barbary Pirates. And those Muslims thought they were in the right because the Quran told them that they could steal the money from infidels, enslave them, kill them.But Thomas Jefferson wouldn't have any of that.     "Surprise Repair" by Steve Adams A few weeks ago, I received a call from a longtime friend. He knows I am an engineer, and he had an old radio that had stopped working. It wasn't just any radio; it was a meticulously designed, high-end piece of equipment that had been silent for years. In the 1980's and 1990's people around the world paid $1,400 for each unit! His plan was to order a new amplifier and replace the original board, but I cautioned him about the challenge of matching custom speakers of a vintage design. Within a few hours, I had identified a suitable replacement, and we got together in his shop to install it. The moment we fired up the radio, it produced sound again, the air in the room seemed to change. On the way home, I reflected some. Helping him restore that radio combined 40 years of engineering experience into a deeply rewarding afternoon. We all have skills that, when used to serve others, pay off in surprising ways.     "Model Rockets" by Steve Adams

    Model Rockets Back where I grew up, my old shop in the barn still reminds me of something out of an Indiana Jones movie. Today, it is filled with cobwebs and inventions from 50 years ago, but in the early 80’s, it was amazing. The neighborhood kids and I used to organize capture the flag events with as many as 20 kids. My shop served as a “Command Center” where my friend and I used maps and radios to track the battle. One day, I hatched this plan to add Estes Rockets to the game. Using old TTL Logic chips, I built a Ground Launch Sequencer to automatically launch the rocket after my friend and I simultaneously turned our Launch Keys and the sequencer reached 0 on the countdown. If the rocket landed close to someone in the battle, they were out of the game. Today, I use the old sequencer as a prop when I talk to school classes, but, back then, the device was a novelty that was most certainly not inspired by either TikTok or AI!     August 10 Doubling down on Failure Some tactics that seem like idiocy to conservatives are actually used on liberals. For instance, defenders have failed policies no longer have to prove success. They merely have to convince enough people that fixing the failure would be morally offensive. In business, we call that doubling down on failure. If a product loses money year after year, we fix it. We eliminate it. We don't say we hate our customers because they object to our product. Yet government operates under that exact logic. Failure becomes evidence that even more money and even more authority are needed. Government grows rapidly when emotions are high because every attempt at reform is portrayed as cruelty even when they've demonstrably failed at the very purpose for which they were created. It's now the politically correct false history of America.     August 12 Divide and destroy America What would you think if your house was being invaded and you were told by the police that you were not allowed to stop it? That's pretty much what happened in Texas. Millions of illegals were sweeping over the Mexican border into Texas and Texas was told by the Biden administration that that was a national issue and that Texas had no right to interfere. When one side of America seeks enforcement of laws and the other seeks non-enforcement, it's a dangerous situation for any republic. So we have a political movement that views the law as an obstacle rather than a framework to be respected. And when ideology becomes more important than law, the system weakens. The country weakens. A constitutional republic can't survive if public officials reserve the authority to decide for themselves what laws deserve obedience and which don't.
