Grace to You: Radio Podcast - The Joy of Salvation, Part 1 (A)

What does it matter if you believe that man has a free will and chooses to be saved, or that God predestines people for salvation? Is it really worth debating issues like those? Isn’t better to simply avoid them? Consider the far-reaching implications of those questions with John MacArthur as he continues his study called Our Great Salvation.

Max Lucado Daily Devotional - Dare to Think the Unthinkable

Listen to Today's Devotion Dare we think the unthinkable? That God will hear our prayers, that he will listen when we speak? If you were to pray a faith-empowered prayer, what would you say? Then say it! Let faith fuel your prayers. And let prayers put starch in your faith. Will God give you what you request? Yes, he will. He may do so in a different form than you ask for or a different time frame than you prefer, but “it is [Jesus] who is the ‘Yes’ to all of God’s promises” (2 Corinthians 1:20 GNT). Let’s renew our commitment to unreasonable, unquenchable, unthinkable prayer. Let’s ask God to resurrect hope that has perished and dreams that are buried. Be Still and Know Daily Bible Devotion - August 28th - Acts 16:15

Acts 16:15 When Lydia and the members of her household were baptised, she invited us to her home. “If you consider me a believer in the Lord,” she said, “come and stay at my house.” And she persuaded us. Paul’s first convert in Europe was a businesswoman. Lydia came from what we now know as western Turkey and was a dealer in the purple cloth for which her home area was famous. As Paul travelled around, he normally began his ministry in a synagogue, but it would seem that there wasn’t one in Philippi. So he went to the river, where he met up with a group of women who gathered together to pray. As Paul spoke with them, Lydia responded to his message and was baptised. It is fascinating to see that her first response was to offer hospitality, and it seems that she was very insistent. Hospitality was crucial for the early Church because there were no Christian buildings for many years. The only way they could meet was by people generously opening up their homes. In many ways, our homes are an extension of our personalities, and it is possible to become extremely possessive of them. The suggestion that “an Englishman’s home is his castle” isn’t just a jokey saying. It is possible to be defensive and selfish about where we live. However, the New Testament frequently encourages hospitality. It is good if we have a secure home that we love, but in common with all God’s gifts, our homes are given to us so that we can give them away. Question In what ways have you experienced the blessing of Christian hospitality? Prayer God our Father, thank you for the gift of my home and for the privilege of being able to share it with others. Amen

Thru the Bible on Oneplace.com - Exodus 1

When we left God’s people at the end of Genesis, just 70 members of Joseph’s family lived in Egypt. Turn the page and 350 years have gone by and now God’s people—likely a couple million strong—are slaves . . . but not for long. God didn’t forget His people but promised to send them a deliverer. And that’s a story worth our attention as we watch God prove Himself over and over.

The Esau McCaulley Podcast - Why You Should Care About What's Happening in Gary, IN

For the 100th episode of The Esau McCaulley Podcast, Esau, Malcolm Foley, and Mike look at why America seems incapable of making meaningful progress on gun violence, even after school shootings. They discuss new research showing how pro-gun political spending surges after deadly shootings, what that reveals about money and power in American politics, and how our culture of violence shapes everyday life. Then, they turn to Gary, Indiana, to examine how decades of disinvestment and systemic racism still leave some communities more vulnerable than others. Finally, they ask whether avoiding conflict actually creates peace, and why healthy friendships, churches, and communities sometimes require us to say the hard thing. 0:00 - Theme Song 2:58 - Peacocks 8:44 - Pro-Gun Pac Increases After School Shootings 22:13 - Sponsor - Brooklyn Bedding - For a quality mattress, go to https://www.brooklynbedding.com and use promo code ESAU to get 30% off site wide! 23:13 - Gary, Indiana 38:33 - Conflict is Good for Relationships? 49:32 - End Credits Resources: Isaiah Johnson and the Big Game by Esau McCaulley: https://amzn.to/46lZ8gD How Far to the Promised Land: One Black Family's Story of Survival in the American South by Esau McCaulley: https://amzn.to/4ca7Kug
