What Happens When It Starts Working

S2 EP 33 — WHAT HAPPENS WHEN IT STARTS WORKING? Why Getting There Was Never the Finish Line We are REALLY good at starting. New plan. New goal. New groceries. 30-day challenge. START MONDAY. But here's the question nobody seems to ask: What happens when it actually starts WORKING? Because eventually the excitement wears off. The challenge ends. Real life starts life-ing. And inside Plantspiration®, we're watching what happens when people learn how to KEEP GOING. Plantspiration® Health Report: 2,836 pounds lost among reporting members. But that number isn't the whole story. People are reporting more energy, better sleep, more movement, fewer cravings—and they're learning how to prepare, adjust, come back, and keep taking care of themselves when real life happens. THAT'S what this episode is about. This week, Stefanie and John are talking about the difference between starting something and actually learning how to LIVE it. And John has some thoughts about those 30-day challenges. How many has he completed? ZERO. Because maybe the challenge was never the skill. What you PRACTICE during the challenge is the skill. From major oral surgery and old stress patterns, to learning how to become podcasters, a cat literally interrupting the recording, and an incredible story from Saturday Support, this conversation raises a much bigger question: What if the thing you think was the screw-up wasn't actually where you got stuck? What if the old pattern wasn't eating the ice cream? What if the old pattern was GIVING UP after the ice cream? Because diet culture taught us to screw up, feel bad, hide it, and START OVER. But what if you learned how to notice what happened, tell yourself the truth, adjust—and keep going? Last week we said: The truth is data, not a verdict. This week? USE THE DATA. So before you start another Monday, another month, or another 30-day challenge, ask yourself: What would the old me do next? And... What does the person I'm becoming do next? Because maybe you don't need another start. Maybe you need to learn how to continue. The difference is what you do next. And just because it's working doesn't mean you stop doing what got you here. Ready to stop dieting and start learning how to actually LIVE this? Get in here. Join us inside Plantspiration® at https://www.Plantspiration.org Veterans always join FREE. If this episode hit home, follow the show, leave a review, and share it with somebody who is really good at starting—but wants to learn how to keep going. Maybe you don't need another start. Why Does The Truth Feel Like An Attack

S2 EP 32 — WHY DOES THE TRUTH FEEL LIKE AN ATTACK? When Noticing Feels Like Criticism Why is it SO hard to just tell ourselves the freaking truth sometimes? And what happens when somebody ELSE points out something we don't really want to hear? This week, Stefanie and John start with a stressful trip to the dentist, John's driving, bites, licks and tastes, and a comment Stefanie got years ago: “Can somebody teach this lady how to use a camera?” OOF. Because sometimes the truth doesn't feel like information. It feels like an attack. And diet culture may have taught us exactly why. For years, we learned to GRADE ourselves instead of LOOK at ourselves. Didn't exercise? Lazy. Scale went up? Failed. Ate something you didn't plan? Bad. Messy weekend? Blew it. Start over Monday. So of course we don't want to look at the whole picture. But what if noticing something doesn't mean judging it? What if saying, “Yep, that happened,” doesn't cancel everything you did right? And what if the information you're most uncomfortable looking at is exactly the information that can help you move forward? In this episode of Plantspiration® Unplugged, Stefanie and John get into constructive criticism, self-honesty, RED / BLUE / GREEN, reacting versus responding, and what they've learned about being able to look at themselves differently after 13 years of changing their own lives. Because: THE TRUTH IS DATA. NOT A VERDICT. And: YOU CAN'T ADJUST WHAT YOU'RE AFRAID TO NOTICE. Plantspiration® Health Report The Plantspiration® community is now up to 2,825 pounds lost among reporting members—but one win stopped Stefanie and John in their tracks: “I managed to survive without a complete meltdown.” THAT'S behavior change. More energy. Fewer cravings. More movement. Better sleep. Noticing old thought patterns. Coming back faster. Learning how to navigate real freaking life without abandoning yourself. Because we're not trying to create better dieters. We're learning how to take care of ourselves. So this week? Don't try harder. Tell yourself the truth about ONE thing. Don't judge it. Just notice. NOTICING ISN'T JUDGING. Ready to stop dieting and start practicing your future self? Join us at https://www.Plantspiration.org Veterans always join FREE. BORROW MY BELIEF: Until You Build Your Own

S2 EP 31 — BORROW MY BELIEF: UNTIL YOU BUILD YOUR OWN What if the reason you don’t believe in yourself yet is because you’re still waiting for proof? Stefanie and John are BACK—and after missing last week’s podcast, they have a lot to talk about. A 21-mile bike ride. A much-needed day off. John getting back into jam sessions. A documentary getting closer to completion. A huge upcoming guest. Research, classes, work, life—and the realization that somehow, through all of it, they’re learning something they spent years getting completely wrong: Go, go, go isn’t how you grow, grow, GROW. Hustle culture tells us to do more, work harder, never miss. Diet culture tells us to eat less, try harder, push through, and start over when we “mess up.” But what happens when pushing harder is exactly what keeps us stuck? In this episode of Plantspiration® Unplugged, Stefanie and John get into the difference between giving up and giving yourself what you actually need—and why learning to trust yourself may be one of the most important practices of all. John shares how returning to guitar taught him something surprising about confidence: sometimes you don’t believe in yourself first. Sometimes somebody else believes in you, you keep practicing, and eventually you collect enough evidence to believe it too. That leads Stefanie back to a powerful moment inside Plantspiration® when she asked: “Do you believe that I believe in you?” Every hand went up. So if you don’t believe in yourself yet? Borrow our belief. But you can’t keep it. Because every meal, every walk, every time you rest when you need it, every time you come back after a hard day, and every time you keep a promise to yourself is another piece of evidence. Eventually: “I hope I can do this” becomes “Wait... I DO this.” This isn’t about doing everything perfectly. It’s about learning to: Go. Listen. Adjust. Rest. Return. Grow. Because missing one rep doesn’t mean you’ve abandoned the practice. And you don’t have to wait until you believe in yourself to begin building the evidence that someday makes you say: I believe me. Plantspiration® Health Report The Plantspiration® community has now crossed 2,813 pounds lost—but as Stefanie and John discuss in this episode, the changes they’re witnessing go far beyond a number on the scale. Members are moving more, managing stress differently, becoming more independent, trusting themselves and, most importantly, living more life. You're Always Practicing Something

S2 EP 30 — YOU’RE ALWAYS PRACTICING SOMETHING What if every time you say, “I’ll do it tomorrow,” you’re actually practicing something? Stefanie caught herself doing exactly that. After years of regularly riding her bike, life got busy. Work piled up. A new research project demanded more time. And riding slowly became something she kept putting off. Tomorrow. It’s too hot. I worked hard today. I’ll go next week. Until she realized: She had gotten really good at practicing NOT riding her bike. And the more she practiced it, the easier it became. That realization sent Stefanie and John into a much bigger conversation: If repetition builds a pattern, what happens when we repeatedly DON’T do the thing? Because we’re always practicing something. And we can practice coming back. In this episode of Plantspiration® Unplugged, Stefanie and John talk about what happens when knowing what’s good for us still isn’t enough to make us do it—and why lasting change is built through repetition, not perfection. Stefanie shares what happened when she finally stopped negotiating with herself, got back on her bike, and rode 27 miles—and then put in 55 miles over the weekend. No restart. No punishment. No shame. She just came back. And ironically, the podcast itself became part of the lesson. After losing audio during last week’s episode, the equipment failed AGAIN while recording this one. Multiple attempts. Frustration. A bathroom overflow. An Amazon delivery. And two people wondering whether the damn thing was still recording. They could have called it. They showed up anyway. Because everybody wants to be an All-Star. But becoming one happens at practice. After watching Plantspiration® members show up week after week—through setbacks, stressful lives, imperfect days, new challenges, and incredible transformations—one thing is becoming very clear: Whatever you repeat gets easier to repeat. And eventually, something even bigger can happen. You stop trying to become someone different. You start believing: This is who I am. So maybe the goal was never to become somebody who never misses practice. Maybe it’s becoming somebody who knows how to come back. Plantspiration® Health Report The Plantspiration® community has now crossed 2,804 pounds lost—but as Stefanie and John discuss in this episode, the changes they’re witnessing go far beyond a number on the scale. Members are moving more, managing stress differently, becoming more independent, trusting themselves and, most importantly, living more life. We Forgot How To Feel

S2 EP 29 — WE FORGOT HOW TO FEEL You can tell when somebody is getting healthier without knowing what they weigh. You notice. Their clothes fit differently. They move differently. They carry themselves differently. You don't need their Apple Watch, sleep score, or the number on their scale to believe what you're seeing. So why do we need a number to believe it about ourselves? Somewhere along the way, we got really good at tracking our health—and maybe we forgot how to feel it. In this episode of Plantspiration® Unplugged, Stefanie and John unpack what happens when useful information quietly becomes authority. The watch says you slept badly, but you woke up feeling great. The scale didn't move, but your clothes fit differently. Which one are you going to believe? Stefanie shares why she resisted getting an Apple Watch, why she eventually loved it, and how she used the data exactly how health data should be used: Notice. Learn. Adjust. Practice. Until one day she realized: "I guess I do know how to take care of myself." And stopped checking. Because everybody wants to be an All-Star. But becoming one happens at practice. And when you practice long enough, you stop needing the scoreboard to tell you how you're doing. And yes—the universe apparently decided we needed to practice the lesson during the podcast. We had a recording issue and lost the end of the episode. We're not re-recording it. We'll pick it up next week. Because self-trust isn't believing everything will go according to plan. It's knowing you'll be okay when it doesn't. Plantspiration® Health Report Our community has officially crossed 2,800 pounds lost—and as you'll hear in this episode, the number isn't even the most exciting part. What Healthy Actually Feels Like

S2 EP28 – What Healthy Actually Feels Like 🚨 What if getting healthy isn't about avoiding hard days... but learning how to live through them differently? This week tested us. Our daughter was in a tornado. Our Volvo broke down on the way to date night. We ended up driving an hour in our old beater—with no air conditioning, no gas gauge, and no odometer—dressed up and headed to a comedy club. Ten years ago? That night would've ended very differently. Instead... We laughed. And somewhere along the way, we realized something. Maybe one of the greatest signs of healing isn't that life gets easier... Maybe it's that you recover faster. In this episode of Plantspiration® Unplugged, John and I talk about what health has actually given us—not just lower cholesterol or more energy—but resilience, perspective, laughter, and a life we genuinely enjoy living. In this episode, we discuss: • Why laughter may be one of the most underrated forms of healing • What hours spent kayaking, watching bald eagles, and spotting Great Blue Herons taught us about recovery • Why healthy people still have hard weeks • The surprising comment one of our members made after completing another program: "They don't have this." • Why community may be one of the most powerful forms of medicine • Cheryl's incredible journey from using a walker and taking diabetes medication to becoming a thriving great-grandmother Plus, we celebrate another incredible week inside Plantspiration® and give you a preview of this week's class: 🍓 Breaking the Sugar Trap Because lasting health isn't built by avoiding life... 2,792 Pounds Lost. Zero Ozempic.

S2 EP 27: Ozempic Can't Teach You This Your doctor can prescribe Ozempic. It cannot teach you how to grocery shop, handle stress, survive a vacation, or keep the weight off after you stop taking it. That's the conversation nobody's having—until now. This episode begins with one simple question from Plantspiration® Board President Lauren: "Is there a fast-track tier at Plantspiration®?" After 10 years and thousands of people coached, Stefanie's answer is still no. And she's going to tell you exactly why that's the best news you'll hear all week. Stefanie and John break down what GLP-1 actually is, why your body already produces its own version when you eat fiber-rich whole plant foods, and what current research says about GLP-1 medications—including weight regain after discontinuation, muscle loss, bone density concerns, and the FDA's boxed warning regarding thyroid C-cell tumors for certain medications. Meanwhile, the Plantspiration® community has collectively released more than 2,792 pounds. No injections. No 30-day challenges. No shortcuts. This week alone, two members called into class from hospital beds because they refused to stop practicing their health. That's the fast track. In this episode, you'll discover: • Why every diet you've ever tried technically worked—and why none of them lasted • What GLP-1 medications do—and what they can never teach you • Why it may not be food addiction—it may be stress addiction • The dopamine loop behind shortcut culture and quick fixes • What nurse Isabelle is witnessing inside hospitals today • Why lasting transformation goes far beyond food This is an honest conversation about behavior change, identity, and building the skills that medications alone cannot provide. No script. No edits. Just two people who lost 250 pounds as a family, reversed chronic disease, and have spent the past 14 years helping people around the world stop dieting and start thriving. Where Do You Practice Being Healthy

S2 EP 26: Where Do You Practice Being Healthy? What do you do when the people you love refuse to change? After receiving a heartfelt message from a Plantspiration® member struggling to watch her loved ones choose medications, old habits, and fast food over their health, Stefanie and John tackle one of the hardest questions they hear: How do you help someone who isn't ready to change? This conversation goes far beyond food. It's about why millions of people already know what they should do, yet still struggle to do it. Maybe we don't have an information problem. Maybe we have an implementation problem. In this episode, Stefanie shares one of the biggest breakthroughs in Plantspiration®'s journey: Everyone wants to be healthy. Almost nobody has a place to practice being healthy. In this episode, you'll discover: • Why you can't practice healthy habits for someone else • The difference between information and implementation • Why fear-based health headlines rarely create lasting change • What recent parasite headlines can teach us about health literacy • Why books, documentaries, podcasts, and social media aren't enough by themselves • The powerful question nobody asks: "Where do you practice being healthy?" • Why practicing—not perfection—is what creates lasting transformation This isn't another conversation about dieting. It's a conversation about becoming the kind of person who consistently practices a healthier life. Because information changes minds. Practice changes lives. It Started With $95

S2 EP 25 | It Started With $95 This week, I found something I hadn't looked at in years. The very first deposit into the Plantspiration® bank account. June 4, 2018. $95. Not from a sponsor. Not from YouTube. Not from a grant. It came from a simple donation jar while we were teaching free classes out of our home. That tiny deposit made me stop and think. Everybody sees Plantspiration® today. The nonprofit. The podcast. The community. The lives being changed. But almost nobody sees where it all began. In this episode, John and I look back at what it actually took to build Plantspiration®—and why the exact same lesson applies to every health journey. We talk about hope, wishing, doing, and the moment everything changes... The moment you stop waiting for someone else to change your life and start showing up for it yourself. Because hope may open the door. Practice is what builds the house. In this episode: • The story behind Plantspiration®'s very first $95 deposit • My bike ride that almost ended very differently (you'll definitely hear about it!) • Why we taught classes for free years before there was ever a membership • The difference between hoping for change and becoming the person who creates it • Why lasting transformation is built on the ordinary days that nobody ever sees • The latest Plantspiration® Health Report — 2,772 pounds released and counting Whether you're trying to improve your health, build a dream, or simply take your very first step... Don't underestimate small beginnings. They have a way of changing everything. Maybe you're on your $95 day. And that's exactly where great things begin. 🌱 Join the Plantspiration® Community https://linktr.ee/plantspiration 🎙️ Subscribe to Plantspiration® Unplugged Available on YouTube, Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and wherever you listen. Nobody Talks About This Part

S2 EP 24: You Can Do Anything You Put Your Mind To... But Nobody Tells You This Everybody says, "You can do anything you put your mind to." But nobody tells you what happens next. Nobody tells you about the broken refrigerator. The unexpected bills. The holidays. The setbacks. The days you don't want to show up. This week, Stefanie and John found themselves living the very lesson they planned to teach. A broken refrigerator. Two mini fridges. Coolers everywhere. A house that looked like The Hangover. A week that tested everything. And somewhere in the middle of the chaos came one powerful realization: Maybe the hardest part isn't deciding to change. Maybe the hardest part is staying long enough to see your life change. In this episode of Plantspiration® Unplugged, Stefanie and John unpack what nobody talks about after you decide to lose weight, prevent and reverse disease, build a business, strengthen a marriage, or chase a dream. Because life doesn't pause while you're changing. It keeps life-ing. And maybe that's exactly where transformation happens. In this episode, you'll discover: • What a broken refrigerator taught us about resilience • Why most people don't quit because they're weak • What "You can do anything you put your mind to" really means • The ordinary days that quietly build extraordinary lives • Why consistency isn't glamorous—but it changes everything • The real secret behind lasting transformation If you've ever wondered... "Is this even working?" This episode is for you. Because the life you want isn't built on perfect days. It's built on ordinary days... when you decide not to leave. The Biggest Coaching Mistake I Used to Make (Why Information Doesn't Create Change)

S2 EP 23 | The Biggest Coaching Mistake I Used to Make (Why Information Doesn't Create Change) For years, I thought my job as a coach was to give people more information. More recipes. More PDFs. More research. More answers. I was wrong. In this episode of Plantspiration® Unplugged, Stefanie and John unpack one of the biggest coaching breakthroughs they've had after years of helping thousands of people lose weight, prevent and reverse chronic disease, and create lasting behavior change. It all started with one simple text: "What's your smoothie recipe?" That question sparked a realization that completely changed the way Stefanie coaches. Because maybe people aren't really looking for another recipe. Maybe they're looking for a way to make change feel less uncomfortable. Together, Stefanie and John explore why information alone rarely changes lives—and why participation, practice, and showing up again and again are what actually create lasting transformation. In this episode: 🥤 Why another recipe probably isn't the answer 🚴 What over 20,000 miles of bike riding taught Stefanie about growth and possibility 🎙️ The biggest coaching mistake Stefanie used to make 🧠 Why information feels safe—but participation feels uncomfortable 🌱 How Plantspiration® became more than recipes, nutrition, and meal plans ❤️ Why people don't need another program—they need a place to practice If you've ever found yourself saying... 👉 "I'll start Monday." 👉 "I just need one more plan." 👉 "I just need the right recipe." 👉 "I'll do it when life settles down." This episode is for you. Because maybe the answer isn't finding more information. Maybe the answer is finally participating in the life you want. Stop Waiting For Your Life To Start

S2 EP 22 | Stop Waiting for Your Life to Start How many times have you told yourself: 👉 I'll start after the holidays. 👉 I'll start when work settles down. 👉 I'll start when I'm less stressed. 👉 I'll start on Monday. 👉 I'll start when life calms down. The truth is... Life isn't going to stop happening. And that's exactly what Stefanie and John explore in this episode of Plantspiration® Unplugged. After a busy week filled with bike rides, classes, documentary work, nonprofit projects, flash flood warnings, and everyday life, Stefanie found herself reflecting on a powerful realization: When she lost over 100 pounds and reversed chronic disease, her bills didn't disappear. Her stress didn't disappear. Life didn't suddenly become easy. But something did change. The pain disappeared. And possibility appeared. In this episode, Stefanie and John unpack why so many people spend years waiting for the perfect moment to change—and what they're seeing in the people who are actually succeeding. Because the people creating lasting transformation aren't necessarily the most motivated, the least stressed, or the people with the most free time. They're the people who stopped waiting. They're the people who keep practicing. Together they discuss: 🚴 What Stefanie's bike rides taught her about growth and possibility 🧠 Why confidence doesn't come before action 🌱 The hidden cost of waiting for the "right time" ⚡ Why life never really settles down 💪 What the most successful Plantspiration® members have in common ❤️ The difference between consuming information and practicing new skills 🔥 Why lasting change happens through repetition, not perfection One of the most powerful moments comes when Stefanie shares: "What disappeared was the pain. What appeared was possibility." Because maybe the life you've been waiting for doesn't begin someday. Maybe it begins the moment you stop waiting. 🎙️ Plantspiration® Unplugged is where we pull back the curtain on what really changes people. Not just what to eat. Not just how to lose weight. But how to become the person who can actually live it. 🌱 Plantspiration® Community + Coaching https://linktr.ee/plantspiration 📲 Follow Stefanie https://instagram.com/plantspiration Plantspiration® is a nonprofit organization helping people prevent and reverse chronic disease through whole-food, plant-based nutrition, lifestyle medicine, behavior change, and community support. The Real Reason People Cant Stay Consistent

S2 EP 21 | The Real Reason People Can't Stay Consistent Everybody thinks consistency is the goal. We don't. In this episode of Plantspiration® Unplugged, Stefanie and John explore why so many people struggle to stay consistent—even when they know exactly what to do. Because the problem usually isn't information. It's what happens when life happens. A stressful week. A missed workout. A vacation. A holiday. A bad day. A setback. Most people think consistency means perfection. But what if consistency is actually something completely different? This week, Stefanie reflects on riding 28 miles on her bike and the realization that years ago she couldn't even walk a mile without a handicap placard. The ride sparked a deeper conversation: What actually changed? Was it motivation? Willpower? Discipline? Or was it something else entirely? Together, Stefanie and John unpack: 🚴 The surprising truth about consistency 🧠 Why people quit even when they know what to do 🌱 The difference between perfection and practice ⚡ Why life never "settles down" ❤️ How identity change creates lasting results 💪 What they're seeing inside the Plantspiration® community 🦴 Why movement matters for strength, aging, and bone health Along the way, they share stories about stress, habits, behavior change, coaching, and the powerful realization that they were always consistent... They were just consistent at the wrong things. If you've ever said: 👉 "I'll start Monday." 👉 "I just need to be more consistent." 👉 "I'll get serious when life calms down." 👉 "I know what to do... I just can't stick with it." This episode is for you. Because maybe consistency isn't about doing it perfectly. Maybe consistency is about coming back to yourself every time life pulls you away. 🎙️ Plantspiration® Unplugged is where we pull back the curtain on what really changes people. Not just what to eat. Not just how to lose weight. But how to become the person who can actually live it. This week we also celebrate another milestone inside Plantspiration®. Together, our community has now released more than 2,642 pounds. Not because life got easier. Not because anyone became perfect. But because people kept showing up, practicing, and refusing to quit. 🌱 Plantspiration® Community + Coaching https://linktr.ee/plantspiration 📲 Follow Stefanie https://instagram.com/plantspiration Plantspiration® is a nonprofit organization helping people prevent and reverse chronic disease through whole-food, plant-based nutrition, lifestyle medicine, behavior change, and community support. Shame Keeps People Stuck...Not Lack of Information

S2 EP 20 | Shame Keeps People Stuck (Not Lack of Information) Everybody knows vegetables are healthy. Everybody knows movement matters. Everybody knows sleep matters. So why do so many people still struggle? In this deeply personal episode of Plantspiration® Unplugged, Stefanie and John explore what they believe is the real reason people stay stuck: Shame. Not lack of information. Not lack of motivation. Not lack of willpower. Shame. Together, they unpack decades of dieting, doctor visits, starting over every Monday, emotional eating, guilt, self-criticism, and the hidden emotional patterns that keep people trapped in cycles of frustration and failure. Stefanie shares what it felt like to walk into a doctor's office believing something was wrong with her, while John reflects on the guilt and shame that followed years of trying to change. Most importantly, they reveal what finally changed: Not more information. Not more rules. Not another diet. But learning how to trust themselves again. This is exactly why we started Plantspiration® Unplugged. After helping thousands of people improve their health, we realized the biggest challenge isn't learning what to eat. Most people already know the basics. The real challenge is navigating stress, shame, self-doubt, setbacks, and everyday life without abandoning yourself in the process. That's what this podcast is about. Real conversations about behavior change, identity, emotional health, nervous system awareness, lifestyle medicine, and what it actually takes to create lasting transformation. In this episode, we discuss: • Why information alone doesn't create lasting change • How shame quietly sabotages healing • The emotional cost of constantly starting over • Why life keeps happening—and why waiting for the "perfect time" never works • The difference between guilt and shame • How self-trust, community, and repetition changed everything If you've ever felt like: "What's wrong with me?" "Why can't I get this together?" "I'll start again Monday." This episode is for you. Because maybe you're not broken. Maybe you've just been trying to heal with the same tools that hurt you. He Didn’t Think He’d Make It to 60… Now He Feels Fantastic

S2 EP 19 | He Didn’t Think He’d Make It to 60… Now He Feels Fantastic For years, John thought feeling exhausted, stressed, inflamed, and out of energy was simply part of getting older. He didn’t think he’d make it to 60. Today, he’s riding dozens of miles on his bike, recovering faster, feeling stronger, and enjoying life more than he did in his 40s. So what changed? In this episode of Plantspiration® Unplugged, we have one of our most personal conversations yet as John reflects on where he was before changing his lifestyle—and how dramatically life has changed since. We talk about: 🚴 Aging, energy, recovery, and what it really feels like to get your life back 🌱 Why whole-food, plant-based living changed more than our weight 🧠 The difference between knowing what to do and actually doing it ⚡ Stress, habits, identity, and why so many people stay stuck 💪 Men’s health, vitality, confidence, and feeling strong again ❤️ How changing our health transformed our marriage, mindset, and future One of the most powerful moments comes when John shares that before making these changes, his daily stress level was an 8 or 9 out of 10. Today? "I don't really have a constant stress level anymore." And that’s the real conversation. Because we had all the information. We knew smoking was unhealthy. We knew movement mattered. We knew vegetables were good for us. We knew stress was hurting us. The problem wasn’t information. The problem was learning how to actually live it. If you've spent years collecting information, buying programs, starting over every Monday, and wondering why nothing seems to stick, this conversation may change how you think about health forever. Because maybe you don’t need more information. Maybe you need more support. More repetition. More community. More opportunities to practice becoming the person you want to be. If you've ever wondered: 👉 Is it too late to change? 👉 Can I really feel better than I do now? 👉 Why do I know what to do but still struggle to do it? 👉 What happens when I finally stop starting over? This episode is for you. 🌱 Plantspiration® Community + Coaching https://linktr.ee/plantspiration 📲 Follow Stefanie https://instagram.com/plantspiration 🎙️ Subscribe to Plantspiration® Unplugged for real conversations about lifestyle medicine, behavior change, emotional health, nervous system healing, and creating a life you actually feel good living. People Bond Over Cortisol | Why We Thought Chaos Was Normal

S2 EP17 — People Bond Over Cortisol | Why We Thought Chaos Was Normal What if emotional eating isn’t really about food? What if it’s about stress, survival mode, nervous system overload… and living in a constant state of emotional chaos? In this episode of Plantspiration® Unplugged, we get REAL about the years we spent bonding over stress, reliving problems, gossip loops, emotional overload, survival mode, and what we now recognize as cortisol addiction. We talk openly about: trauma bonding and co-rumination emotional eating and survival mode gossip, stress loops, and chaos addiction why diets fail when people aren’t regulated nervous system healing and emotional regulation how whole-food, plant-based living changed more than our weight why healing changed our relationships, identity, and emotional environment For years we thought: stress was normal chaos was connection survival mode was just “life” But when we started eating differently, moving differently, thinking differently, and regulating differently… everything changed. “People don’t just eat emotionally… they LIVE emotionally.” “I was addicted to cortisol and thought it was my personality.” “Some friendships were built around surviving… not healing.” “People didn’t just need recipes… they needed regulation.” This is one of the deepest and most honest conversations we’ve ever had on the podcast. If you’ve ever: felt trapped in stress struggled with emotional eating lived in fight-or-flight mode felt overwhelmed trying to “start over” wondered why diets never stick …this episode is for you. You Don’t Need More Information… You Need to Start

S2 E16 You Don’t Need More Information… You Need to Start This episode is a wake-up call. Stefanie and John get real about something that keeps so many people stuck… thinking they need more information before they can change. More recipes. More research. More “perfect timing.” But here’s the truth: That’s not progress. That’s avoidance. In this episode, they break down why people stay stuck—not because they don’t know what to do, but because they’re waiting to feel ready before they start. And why that mindset will keep you in the same place. Through real-life stories, humor, and powerful moments, they show what actually creates change: • Taking action before you feel ready • Learning by doing—not just thinking • Rewiring the identity that keeps you stuck Because the shift doesn’t happen when you understand more… It happens when you DO something different. In this episode, we talk about: • Why gathering information can actually keep you stuck • The real reason action creates relief and builds confidence • How fear and old patterns stop follow-through • Why discipline isn’t the answer—and what works instead • The truth about starting before you feel ready • How small action creates real identity change Plantspiration® Health Report This community continues to show what’s possible when you stop waiting and start doing. We Thought We Were Broken… Then This Changed Everything

🎙️ S2 EP 15: We Thought We Were Broken… Then This Changed Everything This episode is real life. No script. No perfection. Just what actually happened this week—and why it changed everything. From a power outage in the middle of class, to getting back on our bikes after a long winter, to realizing how fast your body can shift when you finally move… this one hits on every level. For years, we believed something so many people still believe: “I’m broken.” “My body can’t do that anymore.” “I don’t have the energy.” We were told: bad knees, bad back, take it easy. So we did—and we built a life around it. But this week reminded us of something powerful: It’s not about motivation. It’s about movement. Because the moment you move… everything shifts. Your energy. Your mood. Your mind. And you start to feel like yourself again. In this episode, we talk about what happened when our power went out mid-class (and why it mattered), our first bike ride back after a long break, how quickly your brain and body respond to movement, the “down escalator” feeling and how to catch it, why we believed we were broken (and how we unlearned it), and the real connection between movement, mood, and mental clarity. Plantspiration® Health Report: Total weight released: 2,590+ lbs Members are reporting more energy, better mood, better sleep, more movement, more confidence, and real consistency. These are not dieters. These are people learning how to live differently. Quote to remember: “You don’t need motivation… you need movement.” When was the last time you moved your body and actually felt the difference?
