64: Is alcohol making it harder for you to be healthy?

Experiencing anxiety can feel like an uphill battle, but what if alcohol is contributing to your anxiety? Lyndi was diagnosed with clinical anxiety at the age of 21 and has experimented with medication, therapies and habits along the way. But she was fascinated about the disappearance of her anxiety during both her pregnancies. In this episode Lyndi & Jenna share personal experiences with anxiety and a journey to better mental health. Lyndi is on a year-long alcohol break, exploring the booming selection of non-choices, and seeing if it is making a lasting impact on her mental health. Jenna has previously done a similar experiment but with different results. And we love this because as with everything we highlight in this podcast, it is all about personal experimentation and what works for you. 63: So you want to lose weight? Let's chat. (Part 3)

Lyndi doesn't often talk about weight loss, although it's something clients frequently approach her about. The reason? Trying to lose weight often makes you more obsessed with food, making it harder to be healthy. Plus, pursuing weight loss doesn't actually lead to weight loss. However, she isn't against you losing weight. She is against you trying to lose weight. It's a subtle but oh-so-important difference. Weight loss is fine. But don't aim for it. Don’t slay your body, don’t compromise your well-being in order to lose weight. Let it become something that happens as a side effect of making healthier choices. There is a way we can have a healthy conversation about the desire to lose weight and we are tackling it in this 3 part series. If you haven't listened to episodes 1 & 2, jump into those first so you have the background for the thinking around this nuanced topic. In part 3, let's look at what Lyndi is actually doing and implementing into her new mother-of-two life. It is time for the practical strategies for achieving a stronger and healthier body without dieting. Remember the relentless pursuit of weight loss often leads to an unhealthy obsession with food, making it even harder to feel good. Let's do the opposite. For more support, read Lyndi's book 'Your Weight is Not the Problem'. It’s been ranked #1 on Amazon in women’s health for 10 weeks straight, and for good reason. You can buy it wherever all good books are sold or get the audiobook. Get the deets and access to a free audio sample HERE. Ps. 62: So you want to lose weight? Let's chat. (Part 2)

In this episode, we continue the conversation around the post-baby journey with Lyndi. If you haven't listened to Part 1 yet, we highly recommend starting there to get the full context. Lyndi knows the significance of being open and authentic about her post-baby weight loss experience. She wanted to avoid creating the narrative that the weight will simply "fall" off her without any effort. Because let's face it. It won't. However, she also admitted feeling nervous about discussing this topic in the non-diet world, where conversations around weight are sensitive and complex. Especially if people are on different stages of their own journey in rebuilding their relationships with food and their bodies. Despite the challenges, we know this is an important conversation to continue. Because you can accept your body as it is and also make food and movement choices that will make your body feel great at the same time. In a society where there’s so much pressure on us to do all the things, it’s no surprise we’re all so freakin’ exhausted. Neither is wine, although it may help you forget the question! So what is the answer? Better quality sleep. Excellent Sleep. Enter Dr Stan Rodski. 57: Why counting calories or macros isn’t the secret to health

Do you feel like you are doing all the "right" things but you can't seem to lose weight. You are counting calories or counting macros - never straying from the plan - and yet nothing seems to be happening. If it feels like your body is fighting against you when you try to lose those last few kilograms, it’s because of your body IS fighting against you. This used to be Lyndi. When she was a dieter, she punished herself to try and look better in a bikini. She wasted time wondering why she was gaining weight even though her food consumption was perfectly calculated. It made everything harder… But not anymore. Because through learning about intuitive eating, she discovered the real secret to health. Just take a handful of almonds! Don’t count them. In fact, you don’t need to count anything including macros, points and calories. It’s soul sucking and makes healthy eating painful. You can only count for so long before you feel deprived. You don’t want to spend the rest of your life counting… you just want to be able to eat and enjoy and be happy. Count the things you should be grateful for. Way more effective. 📘Have you tried a bajillion diets, only to regain the weight (and more)? It’s likely that diet culture is keeping you stuck in this vicious cycle, full of empty promises and failed attempts. 54: What to do after a binge

After a weekend of indulging or after a binge, you may be tempted to try and counteract eating more than you wanted by restricting and ‘trying to be good’. Warning: This will most likely lead to MORE overeating in the long run. In fact, ‘trying to be good’ after a binge is one of the biggest mistakes… and it’s what keeps many people stuck in the overeating cycle. You can either choose to be angry that you binged and promise to do better tomorrow (but that doesn’t get you anywhere)… OR to you can realise that binges are OK. Each time you overeat you can learn something. Seem hard to believe? Let's find out what exactly you can learn and more importantly what you should do. Sick of eating really well only to fall off the bandwagon and start again from scratch? Check out my FREE 5-day course. 51: Ready to stop binge eating? You absolutely can. Here's how I did it

Eating disorders can affect everyone – not just the thin. Our society encourages overconsumption. Yet we also demand thinness, willpower and self-control. We seem incapable of believing that being overweight is anything but a result of greed and that it’s simply evidence of weakness or laziness. This creates the belief that bingeing is a ‘failure’. Bingeing is a fundamentally misunderstood act, yet newsflash: binge eating disorder (BED) is also the most common type of eating disorder. Binge eating disorder controlled Lyndi's life for 10 years. During this time, she felt like food controlled her. She was always trying to lose weight. She didn’t want to binge eat but she didn’t know how to stop binge eating. We have chatted on the podcast about many people. But now it's time for Lyndi's story. If you struggle with binge and emotional eating, please try Lyndi's FREE 5-day course. It’ll teach you the strategies she used when learning to stop binge eating. For more personalised support, check out the Keep It Real Program. 50: Maybe you didn't fail Weight Watchers? Maybe it failed you? An honest conversation about WW

In the weeks since Lyndi has released her new book Your Weight Is Not The Problem, she heard from multiple (ex) Weight Watchers customers that after posting a photo of the book in the WW Connect forum, it was almost immediately deleted by admins... Seems like WW knows she might be onto something and that’s got them worried. And so they should be. The evidence is clear and people are starting to listen. Not only do diets not work, they overwhelmingly do more harm than good. And with all this talk of WW..the ears of No Wellness Wankery were engaged. Both Lyndi and Jenna have been through the school of Weight Watchers and have come out with the scars to prove it. Looking at foods and having their 'points value' etched into your brain, bingeing on 'free' foods or the dread of a public weigh-in. Lyndi put the call out on her Instagram for her lovely followers to write in with their tales of WW and the response was overwhelming. So we knew we needed to dive in. This episode is a space free from diet judgement or 'failure'. A place for you to know that you haven't failed Weight Watchers, it has probably failed you. Note: For legal reasons, the following episode is based on personal experiences. Many of you kindly shared your stories with us. Names may be changed to retain their privacy. But all stories are told as they were shared. "This book has literally changed my life - 26 years of eating disorders, disordered eating, fitness challenges, diets, and psychologists. This book in 3 weeks has changed my life beyond measure! I can't believe this won't help anyone who reads it." It's feedback like this that adds fuel to my fire.
