If you are a frequent listener of the No Wellness Wankery podcast, you would know that only 5% of Australians eat enough veggies. And that we are on a mission to change this. We thought it was about time to bring a certified vegetable expert to the show to help us say GOODBYE to boring veg! Meet Alice. And of course the cookbook in questions is the very epic, 450 page 'In Praise of Veg'. It is the definitive guide to making vegetables the centre of the plate. Something we believe is SO important to our health. So what are her secrets? In this episode Alice speaks about why she thinks we aren't eating enough veg, what to do to make them taste amazing and how we can all be better in the kitchen. Plus she tells us all about her new book 'The Joy of Better Cooking' and how we can all become better in the kitchen in our favourite way possible...done is better than perfect. So if you're already assembling ingredients in the kitchen, you're already a better cook than you think. Ps. 44: The TRICK to exercising consistently with Turia Pitt

To kick off 2023, we have decided to mix up the format of No Wellness Wankery. And we are outrageously pleased to introduce our first guest to the podcast, Turia Pitt. Over ten years ago - At age 24, Turia Pitt's life was drastically changed. She was competing in a 100km ultra marathon in the Australian outback, she encountered an out of control grassfire. Turia was trapped by the flames, and suffered burns to 65% of her body. She survived against the overwhelming odds, undergoing over 200 medical procedures and has gone on to rebuild an extraordinary life. She has written three best-selling books, given birth to 2 babies, has coached thousands of people to lead happier lives through the Run with Turia program, which Lyndi has personally done. Lyndi asks Turia about how she ensures greatness is squeezed into everyday, how she uses movement on bad body image days and the simple tricks to ensuring you remain consistent with exercise. Spoiler: It's not about enlisting the help of an even scarier person to yell at you at the gym to do one more rep.... Oh and if you’ve EVER thought about learning how to run... if you like the idea of being a runner but worry that you don’t have time or don’t look like a runner or can’t even jog for 50m without getting puffed out... then you’ve gotta check out Turia Pitt's Run with Turia program. You’ll have the best running coach in Turia Pitt, who I reckon is the real, deal. Her advice is doable, realistic (and totally free from wellness wankery) even if you’re a busy mum or human. Did you see I was recently on Turia's insanely wonderful podcast? If not, check out the episode here to hear me explain why you shouldn't set a weight loss goal this year... If you aren't already, would highly recommend following Turia on Instagram. Want to feel more in control around food? Check out my Stop Struggling With Food Guide, currently on sale for 40% off. 41: How to spot unqualified health 'experts'. Hint: There's NO one-size-fits-all diet

A dietitian and nutritionist are not the same thing. But don't worry, you are not alone if this concept is confusing! Our lovely listener Caitlin, had a run in with a nutritionist who was dishing out dodgy advice. But thank goodness she had the tools of No Wellness Wankery, to see they were causing her more harm than good. And ditch them. Caitlin asked Lyndi what the industry is doing about the fact that anyone can call themselves a nutritionist? Remember it’s a dietitian and nutritionists job to make people healthier – not thinner. There is no one diet that is perfect for everybody. Any ‘expert’ who pretends there is only one, magical way is probably just a health blogger (or celebrity) without any qualifications. What’s healthy for me may not feel right for you. Ps. If you are looking for some career advice from Lyndi, check out her blog Pps. Let’s stay connected on Instagram! No wellness wankery, I promise. Just bs-free and practical health advice, so that you can feel strong and confident in your already wonderful body. 39: Menopause and weight gain. What's the truth?

Menopause with its seriously un-fun hot flushes and dodgy hormones highs and lows is a huge time of change in the body. It's hard to dodge. But guess what we don't need? The fear mongering content as we approach this change around weight gain. As with most wellness wankery, the content around weight gain and menopause is rooted in some source of truth. But does this mean this information is helpful? And more importantly, what should we be doing instead of introducing more control, more restriction and more dieting? Let's dive into our listener question from Pru and find out. 📘Have you tried a bajillion diets, only to regain the weight (and more)? It’s likely that diet culture is keeping you stuck in this vicious cycle, full of empty promises and failed attempts. As the warmer months get closer in the southern hemisphere, as do the onslaught of 'quick fix' messages, emphasising that you are not enough. 31: Scientists have proven that "diet foods" trick you into eating MORE

We are in a wave of new information and research about the gut-brain axis. How the health of our gut can impact our mental health. But did you know this goes both ways? What our thoughts are around food - 'good' foods and 'bad' foods - impacts our stomach and how we feel after eating. Remember food isn’t good or bad, food is just food. Yet every day, we’re bombarded with conflicting advice about what we ‘should’ be eating. We know it's very easy to tell you 'don't label foods as good or bad', but the Milkshake experiment showed us why it really matters. Wtf is the Milkshake Experiment? It's a 2011 study, where psychologist Alia Crum got volunteers to drink a 'healthy' milkshake and an 'unhealthy' milkshake... the results will amaze you. P.s. Have you tried a bajillion diets, only to regain the weight (and more)? It’s likely that diet culture is keeping you stuck in this vicious cycle, full of empty promises and failed attempts. 29: Breakfast. Is it REALLY the most important meal of the day?

Breakfast. It’s the most important meal of the day. Or is it? For many of us, the idea that we need to eat breakfast each morning is deeply ingrained. But do you actually need to eat in the morning to be healthy? Maybe when you were a kid, breakfast was a non-negotiable. Then, as you grew up, you were likely bombarded with diet articles, telling you to eat’ breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a pauper’. And it can feel like no expert can ever agree on whether or not breakfast is important for your wellbeing. So then – do you actually need to eat breakfast to be healthy? Well, it depends who’s asking… Let’s get into it. Ps. Looking for brekkie inspo? You'll be stoked to find hundreds of FREE, deliciously simple recipes on my website! 28: Do you want to eat intuitively but also want to lose weight? An honest conversation

Do you want to eat intuitively but also want to lose weight? Scared that non-dieting will mean you can't get to your goal weight? Let's chat honestly about weight loss and intuitive eating. Learning about intuitive eating is about getting back that very deeply intelligent part of you that knows exactly how to best feed yourself. But we know that all the silly diet rules that are trapped in our brains can make intuitive eating feel almost impossible. Especially when you come into the world of intuitive eating thinking that it is just another weight loss protocol. Lyndi receives a lot of questions about how people enter into the world of non-dieting when they are still wanting to lose weight for health reasons or quality of life. So, when we received a really great email from a lovely listener named Sarah - we knew it was time to be really honest about navigating weight loss without dieting. Ps. If you've listened to the episode and want to know more about the Hunger Scale, check it out here. "This book has literally changed my life - 26 years of eating disorders, disordered eating, fitness challenges, diets, and psychologists. This book in 3 weeks has changed my life beyond measure! I can't believe this won't help anyone who reads it." It's feedback like this that adds fuel to my fire. If you haven't yet, read Amazon's #1 Woman's Health book. 27: "High-protein, low-sugar, superfoods" - Worth the buy?

There are so many different product claims or weird marketing buzzwords on every food you pick up at the grocery store. And no surprise that with this, comes loads of misinformation.
