Oscar Mike Radio – 506 – Micah Taylor – Hire Heroes USA

In this episode of Oscar Mike Radio, I sit down with Micah Taylor, a retired Air National Guard veteran and Program Director at Hire Heroes USA, to talk about one of the biggest challenges service members face: figuring out what comes next after the uniform. Micah shares her own military journey, including her service as an aircraft electrician and her transition into civilian life. That experience gives her a personal understanding of how difficult it can be to take years of military training, leadership, and responsibility and translate those skills into language civilian employers understand. That's where Hire Heroes USA comes in. Micah explains how the organization provides free, personalized career support to veterans, transitioning service members, and military spouses. From career coaching and résumé development to interview preparation and job-search assistance, the goal isn't simply to help someone find a job. It's about helping people recognize their value and connect their military experience to meaningful civilian opportunities. We also discuss specialized programs supporting women veterans and military spouses, two groups that can face unique challenges when navigating employment and career development. One point from our conversation especially stood out to me: transition planning needs to start early. Don't wait until you're about to take off the uniform to start thinking about your next mission. We also talked about artificial intelligence and its growing role in résumés, job searches, and recruiting. AI can be a powerful tool, but Micah reminds us that technology can't replace one of the most important parts of finding the right opportunity: human connection. Networking matters. Relationships matter. Conversations matter. Military service gives us skills that don't disappear when the uniform comes off. Sometimes, we just need help translating those skills and finding the next place to put them to work. Go to https://www.hireheroesusa.org/ to learn more. Thank you, Micah, for joining me on Oscar Mike Radio and for the work you and the entire Hire Heroes USA team are doing to help veterans, service members, and military spouses move confidently toward their next mission. The uniform may come off. The mission continues. We are Mission in Flight!

TWOCPT, Ep 85, What is Consciousness Series, Part 2 of 6, Man Discovers The Mind

Before humanity could watch the living brain through modern technology, we were already attempting to understand the invisible world within us. On Monday, August 24 at 9 AM EST, What Is Consciousness? continues with Part 2: Man Discovers the Mind. We’ll travel through some of the thinkers who changed how humanity viewed itself—from Sigmund Freud’s theories of the unconscious and ego, to Carl Jung’s exploration of archetypes and the collective unconscious, and Benjamin Spock’s enormous influence on ideas about childhood and development. Yet we're not stopping at what they taught. We're going to ask: What was observation? What was theory? What survived? What evolved? What did later generations challenge? And naturally, the Why’er (MJ) has another question. Did humanity actually discover the mind… or did we discover another layer of the mystery? Because perhaps our behaviors aren't random. Perhaps our childhood, conditioning, memories, experiences, patterns and unconscious processing leave clues to WHY we think, react and behave the way we do. From Pain to Purpose - Russ Blaylock

📝 Episode Description What happens when the thing destroying your life ultimately becomes the reason you discover a new purpose? On From Pain to Purpose, Eva Fulton sits down with Russ Blaylock to discuss his journey through alcoholism, rock bottom, recovery, and redemption. Russ shares how alcohol became his escape, why admitting powerlessness was such an important turning point, and how recovery required more than simply putting down the bottle. Their conversation explores fear, family, military and Veteran drinking culture, AA, community support, personal responsibility, and finding a relationship with a higher power. Russ describes addiction as an unexpected “gift”—not because of the destruction it caused, but because recovery forced him to confront himself, ask for help, and discover a different way to live. Sometimes rock bottom isn't where the story ends. It's where rebuilding begins. 🎧 From Pain to Purpose Military Broadcast Radio — Giving Veterans a Voice From Pain to Purpose, Russ Blaylock, Eva Fulton, alcoholism recovery, alcohol addiction, addiction recovery, Alcoholics Anonymous, AA recovery, sobriety, Veteran addiction, Veterans and alcohol, military drinking culture, faith and recovery, spiritual recovery, higher power, overcoming addiction, rock bottom, redemption, recovery community, Military Broadcast Radio, MBR #FromPainToPurpose #AddictionRecovery #AlcoholRecovery #Sobriety #Recovery #AlcoholicsAnonymous #Veterans #VeteranSupport #Faith #Redemption #MentalHealth #Purpose #MBR #MilitaryBroadcastRadio 🔥 SEO Keywords#️⃣ Hashtags

Oscar Mike Radio - 505 - Greg Potapenko

I met Greg Potapenko at Military Creator Con 2026. His Tactical Snack Packs were key to getting through the long days, and I wanted to learn more. Greg is a Canadian Army veteran and founder of Tactical Snacks. He talks with me about military service, entrepreneurship, and what happens when you take the skills developed in uniform and apply them to a new mission. Greg served 23 years in the Canadian Army, retiring as a warrant officer before transitioning into the business world. Like many veterans, leaving the military did not mean he was finished serving. Instead, Greg found a new way to support the military and first responder communities through entrepreneurship. We talk about the story behind Tactical Snacks, a healthier snack brand created with military personnel and first responders in mind. Greg wanted to build something that was not just about food. Tactical Snacks is also about morale, connection, and creating a brand that understands the people it serves. Greg also brings extensive experience in digital marketing and business acquisitions to the conversation. We discuss what he's learned about entrepreneurship, why staying focused matters when building a business, and the importance of creating a community around your mission instead of simply trying to sell a product. What I especially enjoyed about this conversation is how Greg has taken the leadership, discipline, and mission-focused mindset developed during 23 years of military service and carried those qualities into his next chapter. And he's just getting started. Greg shares his plans to continue growing Tactical Snacks, including the goal of bringing the brand onto U.S. military installations through the AAFES system. From Canadian Army warrant officer to veteran entrepreneur, Greg's story demonstrates that leaving the military doesn't mean leaving the mission behind. Sometimes it simply means finding a new way to serve.
