Staudte Family Murders | Mark and Shaun Staudte

In just over a year, the Staudte family went from six people to three. First, Mark Staudte suddenly became gravely ill and died. Five months later, his son Shaun developed eerily similar symptoms and died. Then, another daughter, Sarah, was rushed to the hospital in critical condition with multiple organ failure. At first, it looked like an unimaginable string of medical tragedies. Then an anonymous tip sent investigators back to the beginning. What they uncovered was a shocking plan involving antifreeze, a mother and daughter, and a family whose illnesses had never been what they appeared to be. And then detectives found a journal. Join us as we dig into the Staudte family murders, the investigation that finally exposed the truth, and the daughter who survived what killed her father and brother. From the Vault: Justice for Suzanne Morphew

Before we knew everything we know now, there was this episode. We’re opening the Justice For vault and taking you back to one of the very first cases we ever covered: Suzanne Morphew. In May 2020, Suzanne disappeared while allegedly out for a bike ride on Mother’s Day. What followed was a case filled with unanswered questions, conflicting stories, suspicious evidence, and a search that would continue for years. This episode was originally recorded when Justice For was just getting started, so consider it a snapshot of where the case stood at that time. A lot has happened since we originally recorded this episode, and we’ve covered some of those developments in later episodes. WTF: The Siders Indictments, Laken Snelling’s Confession & Morgan Geyser Wants Out AGAIN

It's time for another WTF Edition of Justice For. The Siders case—also known as the Ohio House of Horrors—has taken another disturbing turn. The four adults living in the home have now been indicted on dozens of child endangerment charges, while a separate investigation has resulted in additional sexual-abuse-related charges against members of the family. We also have an update on Laken Snelling, who pleaded guilty to all four charges connected to the death of her newborn son. During her plea hearing, Laken gave the court a different account of what happened than the story she originally told investigators. And finally, Morgan Geyser is asking for conditional release once again. After her previous release was revoked following her escape from a group home in 2025, she has now filed a new petition asking the court to give her another chance. Three cases. Three updates. And plenty of reasons to say WTF. ⚠️ As always, these cases involve allegations and ongoing legal proceedings. An indictment or criminal charge is not a conviction. 4 True Crime Cases We Covered | Major Updates You Need to Know

We've covered these cases before. But the stories didn't end when our episodes did. This week, we're catching you up on four cases we've followed over the years. Including Alexee Trevizo, Letecia Stauch, Kouri Richins, and Robert Dear. Alexee Trevizo’s case suffered a major setback for prosecutors after the New Mexico Supreme Court ruled that key statements she made in the hospital cannot be used at trial. Letecia Stauch's overturned conviction has taken another turn as the state continues fighting the decision. Kouri Richins has hit another roadblock in her efforts to have her post-conviction proceedings handled by a different judge. And in the Robert Dear case, the long-awaited trial will never happen after his death in federal custody. Some cases are still moving toward a courtroom. Some are headed back to one. And some will never get the ending everyone was waiting for. Siders Family Update | Fact vs. Fiction After the Gag Order

Sixteen children. Four adults charged. A growing list of rumors. Since our first episode on the Siders family case, a gag order has limited what investigators can say publicly but that hasn't stopped speculation. This week, we're separating fact from fiction. We're breaking down what's actually been confirmed about the children's condition, the family's history, the competency evaluations, bond requests, and the legal battle now unfolding, while also discussing the role generational poverty may have played in this tragic case. What really happened and what has everyone gotten wrong? From the Vault | Cassie Carli

Before Marcus Spanevelo's federal murder trial begins, we're taking a trip back into the Justice For Podcast vault with one of the cases that has stayed with us since the beginning—Cassie Carli. Cassie disappeared in March 2022 after meeting her ex, Marcus Spanevelo, for a child custody exchange. Days later, she was found buried in a shallow grave in Alabama, leaving behind a young daughter and a family still searching for justice. Since we originally released this episode, there have been major developments. Federal prosecutors have announced they are seeking the death penalty against Spanevelo on the charge of kidnapping resulting in death. That decision changed the course of the case, turning it into a capital prosecution and adding months of additional legal proceedings. If you've been wondering why this case has taken so long to reach trial, that's a big reason why. Capital cases require extensive preparation by both sides, including additional attorneys, expert investigations, and countless pretrial hearings. While it's frustrating for Cassie's loved ones to continue waiting, these delays are not uncommon in federal death penalty cases. At this time, Marcus Spanevelo has pleaded not guilty, and no final trial date has been set. Prosecutors have proposed an April 2027 trial, but that timeline could still change as pretrial litigation continues. As we wait for the next chapter in Cassie's case, we're revisiting her story and remembering the woman at the center of it all. If you missed this episode the first time—or want to refresh your memory before the trial—now is the perfect time to listen. Justice delayed is never easy, and we'll continue following this case until Cassie Carli and her family finally get their day in court. 💜 Disclaimer The views and opinions expressed in this podcast are those of the hosts and do not necessarily reflect the views of any affiliated organizations. Kenzie Houk

Just weeks before she was due to give birth to her son, 26-year-old Kenzie Houk was found murdered in her Pennsylvania home with a shotgun wound to the back of her head. Her unborn son, Christopher, died with her. What followed was one of the most controversial murder investigations in modern true crime history. Within hours, police arrested Kenzie's 11-year-old future stepson, Jordan Brown, accusing him of carrying out an unthinkable crime. The case would divide a community, spark national headlines, and ultimately raise serious questions about the investigation itself. In this episode, we examine the life of Kenzie Houk, the evidence that led investigators to focus on a child, the years-long legal battle that followed, and the unanswered questions that remain more than 15 years later. Most importantly, we remember Kenzie and the future she never got the chance to live. Candy

When a young mother walked into a hospital seeking help after a fight with her boyfriend, she never imagined she would spend the next seven years fighting to prove the truth. In 1992, "Candy" accused her trusted physician, Dr. John Schneeberger, of drugging and sexually assaulting her during a medical exam. Despite physical evidence, DNA testing repeatedly cleared the doctor, leaving Candy isolated, disbelieved, and branded a liar by her community. But she refused to give up. What followed became one of the most shocking cases in true crime history—a story of perseverance, corruption, manipulation, and a doctor who went to extraordinary lengths to evade justice. This week, we examine the unbelievable case of Dr. John Schneeberger, the survivor who never stopped fighting, and the DNA deception that stunned the world.
