Are you tired of feeling overwhelmed, exhausted, and stuck in mommy survival mode? Maybe you know what would help, but you struggle to stay consistent long enough to see any results. Do you feel guilty when you prioritize yourself instead of maintaining everyone else's expectations?

You're not alone.

Welcome to Habit Stacking Mom, the podcast that helps overwhelmed moms create consistency and confidence by organizing their habits, routines, and responsibilities more intentionally.

Hi, I'm Jess, a wife, stay-at-home mom of three girls, and creator of the Habit Stacked Life.

For years I lived in a cycle of burnout, frustration, and constantly feeling behind. I wasted time, struggled to follow through on routines, carried the mental load alone, and felt like I was always reacting to life instead of leading it.

Everything changed when I stopped trying to fix everything at once and started focusing on consistently stacking simple habits together each day. Because small habits repeated consistently create bigger results than big plans that never get implemented.

This podcast will help you create simple routines, build consistency in the areas that matter most, prioritize your health and well-being, reduce overwhelm, manage your home more intentionally, and create systems that balance the life you actually want to live.

Each week you'll learn practical strategies, habit-stacking experiments, simple planning systems, and realistic routines designed specifically for busy moms.

The goal isn't perfection. It's creating habits that help you show up with more energy, more balance, more confidence, and more consistency in the areas that matter most.

So grab your earbuds and let's get stacking.

Ep 212 // Why Every Family Needs Back-to-School Habits For Responsible Kids

Hey Momma! As the school year begins, most of us spend our time buying school supplies, organizing backpacks, and trying to prepare for everything this new season will bring. But what if the biggest opportunity this school year isn't just getting everyone back into a routine, it's intentionally teaching our kids more responsibility? In today's episode, we're taking a step back and looking at the bigger picture. As moms, it's so easy to become the memory board for our entire family. We remember every schedule, every permission slip, every practice, every appointment, and every little detail because somewhere along the way it simply became easier to do it ourselves. But as our kids grow, we have an opportunity to slowly hand those responsibilities back to them through simple habits and intentional routines. Ultimately, this episode is about creating awareness. Awareness of the responsibilities we're carrying, awareness of the habits we're modeling, and awareness of the opportunities we have every single day to teach our children the life skills they'll need long after they leave our homes. Every year is another chance to help our kids become a little more capable, a little more confident, and a little more independent than they were the year before. Ep 211 // The Biggest Mistake Moms Make When Planning Every Sunday

Have you ever reached Thursday and thought, "I just couldn't get it together this week?" What if the problem wasn't your motivation... but your planning? In today's episode, we're talking about one of the biggest mistakes busy moms make every Sunday: assuming their priorities will somehow fit into the week without intentionally making space for them. If you've ever hoped you'd find time to work out, meal prep, organize your home, take your supplements, spend time with your husband, or work toward a personal goal, but somehow the week got away from you, this episode is for you. You'll walk away with a simple three-question planning exercise that will help you stop hoping your priorities happen and start intentionally building them into your week. If today's episode encouraged you, share it with another mom who feels like she's constantly putting herself at the bottom of the list. Sometimes the biggest shift isn't finding more time, it's intentionally creating space for what matters most. Ep 210 // Create Balance In Your Schedule Before School Routines Start

Back-to-school season is exciting, but it also has a way of exposing everything that slowly unraveled over the summer. As moms, it's easy to spend weeks preparing our kids for the new school year while completely forgetting to prepare ourselves. In today's episode, we're talking about what balance really looks like in motherhood. It isn't about doing less or finding more hours in the day. It's about making sure the things that keep you healthy, energized, and grounded don't disappear while you're taking care of everyone else. If you've ever reached October feeling like you've completely lost yourself, this conversation is for you. Remember... Balance isn't about taking responsibilities away. It's about intentionally putting something back on your side of the beam. If today's episode encouraged you, please share it with another mom who needs the reminder that she doesn't have to carry everything alone. Ep 209 // 4 Rules For Multitasking Without Losing Focus As An Overwhelmed Mom

Last episode, we discovered that multitasking isn't always the enemy. In fact, for many overwhelmed moms and especially those with ADHD tendencies, the right kind of multitasking can actually improve focus. Now it's time to put that idea into practice. In this episode, I'm sharing four simple rules that will help you work with your brain instead of constantly fighting against it. You'll learn how to recognize which tasks deserve your full attention, which repetitive habits can actually support your focus, and how to intentionally pair them together to reduce mental fatigue and get more done. If you've ever ended the day feeling busy but wondering what you actually accomplished, these four rules will give you a new way to approach your daily routines. This week, choose one task that requires your brain, like meal planning, budgeting, or answering emails and intentionally pair it with one simple, repetitive activity like taking a walk, sipping water, folding laundry, or chewing gum. Pay attention to what helps you stay engaged and what pulls your attention away. The goal isn't to multitask more, it's to discover how your brain focuses best so you can build routines that create more progress with less overwhelm. Ep 208 // Why Multitasking Can Actually Help Some ADHD Moms Focus

What if multitasking isn't always the problem? In this episode, we're taking a closer look at why so many moms, especially those with ADHD or ADHD tendencies, struggle to stay focused and why the answer may not be to eliminate every distraction. After a frustrating afternoon of trying to prepare for vacation, I stumbled upon a habit I'd been doing for years without even realizing it. That discovery sent me down a rabbit hole into the research on ADHD, task switching, and something called dual attention. If you've ever wondered why your brain seems to wander or why some repetitive activities actually help you focus, this conversation may completely change the way you think about productivity. And after listening, if this episode encourages you, would you take a moment to leave a review or share it with another mom? You never know who might need the reminder that the goal isn't to do more, it's to build routines that work with the brain God gave you. Ep 206 // Routines Can Keep You Unintentionally Stuck If Your Habits Are On Autopilot

We spend nearly half of our lives running on autopilot and that's not necessarily a bad thing. Our brains are designed to automate repeated behaviors so we can conserve mental energy. The problem isn't that we have habits. The problem is that our brains don't distinguish between habits that help us and habits that hold us back. In this episode, we're exploring the relationship between habits and routines, why your routines are already producing the results you're experiencing, and how becoming aware of the habits inside those routines is the first step toward creating lasting change. In this episode, we'll cover: Why your brain creates habits and how autopilot works The difference between a habit and a routine How routines can quietly reinforce outcomes you never intentionally chose Why habit stacking isn't about adding more to your day How replacing one habit inside an existing routine can completely change the direction of your day If this episode encouraged you, I'd love for you to leave a review and share it with another mama who could use the reminder that change doesn't require starting over, it starts with becoming intentional. Come say hi on Instagram and send me a DM. I'd love to hear what habit inside one of your routines you're working on this week. Until next time… Just keep stacking. Ep 200 // Why Habit Stacking Became My Lifeline As An Overwhelmed Mom

Hey momma, Welcome to Episode 200. I honestly can't believe we're here. What started as a simple idea has turned into more than 100,000 downloads, hundreds of conversations, and a community of moms who are learning how to create more support in their lives one habit at a time. In this milestone episode, I'm sharing a little bit of the story behind the podcast, how motherhood helped me find my voice again, and why habit stacking became one of the most important tools I've ever discovered. Like so many moms, I found myself carrying everything in my head. The meals, the laundry, the groceries, the schedules, the routines, the responsibilities, and the endless mental load that comes with managing a family. And every summer, when the routines and structure of the school year disappeared, I found myself feeling overwhelmed all over again. Most importantly, I want to challenge you to stop trying to overhaul your entire life. Instead, identify one routine that used to support you and begin rebuilding a version of it that works for the season you're in right now. Ep 199 // 5 Simple Habits That Help You Prioritize Yourself Again

Hey Momma! Last episode we talked about how summer removes many of the systems and structures that quietly support our routines throughout the school year. We talked about how our habits often lose their "home" when the rhythm of life changes and how many moms slowly disappear from their own schedules without even realizing it. Today we're taking that conversation one step further. If you've been feeling disconnected from yourself lately, overwhelmed by everyone else's needs, or frustrated that the routines that once felt easy suddenly feel impossible, I want you to know you're not alone. In this Focus Stack episode, we're talking about five simple habits that can help you prioritize yourself again during busy seasons. Not by creating a complicated routine or overhauling your life, but by identifying a few key anchors that help you stay connected to yourself when life feels chaotic. Ultimately, this week's challenge is about identifying which anchor you've stopped protecting and choosing one small habit to reconnect with over the next seven days. Because you don't lose yourself all at once, and you don't find yourself again all at once either. It happens one small choice at a time. Let's partner together because momming is not easy, but it's way harder when you keep trying to do it alone. Ep 198 // No Systems, No Structure, No Time For Mom’s Routines This Summer

Summer is supposed to feel easier. The school schedules are gone. The alarms aren't quite as early. The pressure of the school year starts to lift. But for many moms, summer eventually starts to feel harder. Have you ever noticed how summer starts out feeling exciting but somehow leaves you feeling exhausted halfway through? In this episode, we're talking about the hidden support systems built into the school year and why so many moms struggle when those systems disappear during the summer months. When those supports disappear, we often find ourselves making more decisions, carrying more mental load, and slowly pushing our own needs to the bottom of the list. Today we're diving into why summer creates so much decision fatigue, how routines lose their "home" during different seasons, and why feeling disconnected from yourself may have less to do with discipline and more to do with lost support. Ultimately, I want you to start looking at your routines differently. Instead of assuming you need more discipline or motivation, I want you to consider whether the habits that matter most to you have simply lost their home this summer. Because when support disappears, consistency often disappears right along with it. Let's partner together because momming is not easy, but it's way harder when you keep trying to do it alone. This week's Focus Stack challenge is to identify one anchor in your day and attach one simple habit to it. Hey Momma! This week we're celebrating a huge milestone—100,000 podcast downloads! 🎉 As we approach 200 episodes, I wanted to go back to the foundation of everything I teach and share the reason habit stacking became such a powerful tool in my own life. For years, I thought I needed more motivation, more discipline, and better time management. I kept trying to work harder, push harder, and become more organized.
