Double-lumen tube intubation is one of the most technically demanding airway procedures in anesthesia. In this episode, we discuss a large 916-patient multicenter randomized trial published in the British Journal of Anaesthesia comparing video laryngoscopy with direct laryngoscopy for double-lumen tube placement. We examine whether video laryngoscopy improves first-pass success, reduces airway trauma, and should become the default approach for thoracic anesthesia.
