Episode 1: What is Gestalt Therapy?

Three Certified Gestalt Therapists tackle the tricky question: What is Gestalt Therapy? Gestalt Therapy is difficult to define and doesn't lend well to an "elevator pitch" description. Here, we discuss some of the core tenets of Gestalt theory and practice and what makes it a unique style of therapy. This episode features guests David Narang, PhD and Nelly Nassar, PhD. David Narang, Ph.D. is a clinical psychologist in private practice on the westside of Los Angeles. He works with adults and teens with depression and anxiety and he works with couples. Dr. Narang is trained in multiple psychotherapies, but his theoretical home is with Gestalt, and he has been with GATLA since 2001. He is married with two sons, and in his spare time he enjoys playing his saxophone, riding his bike in the hills, and finding a good tree to meditate under. David is a Certified Gestalt Therapist and is a member of the faculty at Gestalt Associates Training Los Angeles.
