How Hollywood Beat Europe: The Film Industry Takeover Explained

Why did Europe basically hand over the entire film industry to a random California desert town? In this episode, Daniel Torres uncovers the wild story of how Hollywood went from zero to global entertainment capital while Europe watched its movie empire crumble. On Proof Positive, we explore how France's Pathé controlled 70% of the world's films by 1910, then lost it all in just a few years. You'll learn why World War I wiped out 80% of European film studios, discover how Hollywood filmmakers were literally running from Thomas Edison's lawyers, and understand the sneaky business moves that turned 15-minute European films into Hollywood's 90-minute blockbusters. It's a story about timing, geography, and some pretty ruthless business tactics. 📍 Chapters: [00:00] Introduction with Daniel Torres [01:30] Europe's early film dominance and Pathé's empire [04:00] How World War I destroyed European cinema [07:00] Why filmmakers fled to Hollywood [10:00] The business strategies that sealed the deal [12:00] Key takeaways 🔍 Topics: Hollywood history, European cinema, film industry, World War I impact, movie business, entertainment history ⭐ Loving these deep dives? The FAKE Doctor EPIDEMIC Has Sent Me Down a Rabbit Hole

Close your eyes. It's 1951, and a Navy surgeon is bent over a wounded man on the deck of a warship, about to pull a bullet out of his chest. He does it. The man lives. There is just one problem. The surgeon has never been to medical school. His name is Ferdinand Waldo Demara, and cutting a man open at sea is one of dozens of jobs he faked in a whole life spent being someone he was not. Seventy years later, the fake doctors did not go anywhere. They just moved to your For You page. A "Duke graduate" that Duke has no record of. A teenager running a whole medical center out of a strip mall. A woman who saw roughly 4,000 patients before anybody thought to check. And 7,600 fake nursing diplomas, sold like they were nothing. At the top of this video I made you put one word in your back pocket: authority. This is me pulling that thread all the way. Because every single one of these people got the exact same thing from us before they ever earned it, and once you can see the machine that hands it out, you cannot unsee it. This is Investigation Chancla, where we're nosy, but nuanced. We don't just ask what happened. We ask what the hell is going on, and how the hell we got here. 🛍️ MERCH IS AVAILABLE https://investigation-chancla-shop.fourthwall.com 🩴 SUPPORT THE INVESTIGATION None of this happens without you. Malachi Love-Robinson, "Dr. Love," ran New Birth New Life Medical Center in Florida as an unlicensed teenager. "Quack" comes from "quacksalver," and the 1910 Flexner Report reshaped medical education with lasting consequences. Autumn Bardisa was accused of treating roughly 4,000 patients while impersonating a nurse practitioner (update: no contest, April 2026, five years probation). Operation Nightingale uncovered more than 7,600 fraudulent nursing diplomas, named for Florence Nightingale. John Brinkley, the "goat gland doctor," built a radio empire on the fraud. Gerald Barnbaum stole a real doctor's identity for decades, and a diabetic patient died in his care in 1979. Milgram's Yale study found about 65% obeyed to the maximum shock. Elizabeth Holmes was convicted of fraud in 2022. Public videos, interviews, and court records are used for commentary under fair use.

  • The Consciousness Cassettes (Season 2 of The Telepathy Tapes)

TRAILER: The Reincarnation Records (Telepathy Tapes Season 3)

The Telepathy Tapes returns October 7 with Season 3: The Reincarnation Records. If The Telepathy Tapes deconstructed what you believe about consciousness, The Reincarnation Records may shatter it. On October 7th, Ky Dickens takes on one of humanity’s oldest questions in a new podcast, The Reincarnation Records: What if memory doesn’t begin at birth? If The Telepathy Tapes challenged the way we think about consciousness, The Reincarnation Records confronts evidence that could alter what we believe about death. Around the world, young children have described lives they seemingly never lived. They remember people they’ve never met, speak languages they’ve never learned, and know intimate details about places they’ve never visited. Some describe sudden or traumatic deaths, with birthmarks that appear to mirror the injuries they recall. Others exhibit unexplained fears, behaviors or extraordinary abilities that seem to belong to the lives they claim came before. And remarkably, in most cases, simply allowing children to talk about these memories appears to bring profound emotional and even physical healing. In a worldwide investigation spanning France, Nepal, Vietnam, Germany, Brazil, Tibet, Sri Lanka, and the United States, Dickens works with researchers and experts from around the world, including scholars affiliated with the University of Virginia and Harvard, to examine extraordinary cases and the evidence behind them. We meet children whose memories contain startlingly specific details that can sometimes be independently verified, and families whose understanding of reality has been transformed by what their children remember. Along the way, we trace the ancient debate over whether we’ve lived before, from contested ideas in early Christianity to the extraordinary Tibetan Buddhist process used to identify the reincarnating Dalai Lama. Could suggestion, coincidence or cultural influence explain these stories? What happens when a child’s statements are documented before anyone knows whom they might be describing? And if even a fraction of these cases resist conventional explanation, what happens to the worldview we’ve built around the idea that consciousness begins at birth and ends at death?
