Episope 168: Japan Is Calling, Foo with Mini Foo & Professor G

What happens when your daughter starts dreaming about Japan, and a conversation about anime, Pokémon, food, and culture turns into a reminder about what really matters in life? Mini Foo joins me for a conversation about her dream trip to Japan, and we hear from Professor G about his experiences traveling through Tokyo, navigating its incredible train system, and discovering why Japan keeps calling him back. Professor G has visited Japan four times, and each trip has given him something new to appreciate. From hunting down records and Japanese denim to exploring the city on public transportation without relying on his phone, he approaches travel as both an adventure and a personal challenge. But the moment that stuck with me most was his trip with his father. Sitting together at a rooftop bar in Shinjuku, overlooking the Tokyo skyline, he asked his dad what he wanted to do during the trip. His father's answer was simple: it wasn't about the itinerary. He just wanted to spend time with his son. That's the kind of story that reminds you what travel can really mean. We talk about Japanese culture, anime and Pokémon, Chicano style and cultural crossover, navigating Tokyo, travel adventures, and the importance of spending time with the people you love. Sometimes the destination is amazing, but the person standing next to you is what makes the memory last. Episode 167: Find Your Spark, Foo with Kawayne

Sometimes the best conversations happen when you're not looking for one. I met Kawayne in the exit row of a flight back to Los Angeles. We both slept a few hours, woke up, started talking, and by the time we landed I knew I needed to have him on the podcast. Kawayne was born and raised in Jamaica and moved to the U.S. at 15, which meant figuring out a whole new world: new schools, new culture, new rules. Along the way, he found his spark through mentorship and Usher's New Look. That opened doors to new careers, taught him about credit, saving, and investing, and showed him the importance of giving back. Today Kawayne works in PR and publicity and has been around some pretty interesting people in entertainment. What stood out to me, though, wasn't the celebrity stuff. It was his attitude. He genuinely enjoys helping other people succeed. We talk about Jamaica and America, finding your purpose, mentorship, PR, entertainment, credit, investing, networking, and why there's absolutely no reason to gatekeep knowledge. Because if somebody helped you along the way, why wouldn't you help somebody else? And there's already talk of a Part 2, because we barely scratched the surface on marketing. You never know who you're going to meet. Episode 166 : PUERTO RICO, FOO! With Gelindo & Borther Anthony

What do you get when two grown men take off for Puerto Rico with no real agenda other than to explore, have some fun, and see what happens? You get this episode of Yhea Foo Nah Foo. Christian and Anthony talk about their trip through Puerto Rico — from beaches, snorkeling and scuba diving to caves, waterfalls, rainstorms, Old San Juan and the kind of random conversations that only happen when you're actually out there living life. There’s a story about becoming a rescue diver, the strange beauty of bioluminescent water, getting caught in the rain, exploring the island, meeting people, eating good food, talking about Puerto Rico’s history and infrastructure, and eventually finding ourselves talking about rum, sugar cane and Jack Sparrow. But somewhere in all of it, the episode becomes less about Puerto Rico and more about getting out of your normal life and actually experiencing something. Sometimes you don't need a big plan. Sometimes you just need to go. Come take the trip with us. Yhea Foo Nah Foo. Stay Wise, Foo!

Episode 165: Professor G: The People Who Helped Raise Us

Episode 165 — Professor G: The People Who Helped Raise Us What happens when you sit down with someone you’ve known since 7th grade and start pulling on a thread that goes back more than 30 years? That’s what happens when Professor G stops by Yhea Foo Nah Foo. Gino and I go way back. We talk about being teenagers who were basically raised by wolves, the nights I ended up at his house when I had nowhere else to go, and how certain friends become part of your village before you’re even old enough to understand what a village is. We get into psychology, human behavior, 2001: A Space Odyssey, AI, evolution, and the idea that sometimes you have to let an old version of yourself die so something new can take its place. Then the conversation takes another turn. Travel. Getting out of autopilot. Why unfamiliar places can make you feel alive again. Parenting. Making memories with your kids. And that strange moment when you realize your children are growing up and the little family you built is slowly changing. Gino talks about watching his daughter leave for college and what it feels like when the family “band” starts losing members. And I talk about my own daughter, Kennedy, and how sometimes you can just feel when a memory is being made. This conversation goes all over the place — which is pretty much exactly how a Yhea Foo Nah Foo conversation is supposed to go. It’s about friendship. It’s about growing up. It’s about the people who helped raise us. And maybe most of all, it’s about trying to stay awake for your own life while it’s happening. Yhea Foo Nah Foo — Episode 165 Stay Wise, Foo.

Episode 164/ 52: What's on Tonight vs. Everything, Everywhere, All at Once

In this episode of Yhea Foo Nah Foo, we start with summer, family, the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, and a little talk about money and investing… and somehow end up discussing dopamine, AI, biological mini-brains, the simulation, brain farms, classic movies, and whether humans are basically just carbon-based computers. Yeah… it goes there. 😂 But underneath all the Foo nonsense, there’s a real conversation happening about something we’re all dealing with: information overload. We live in a world where everything wants our attention. Our phones, the news, social media, emails, texts, algorithms, and the constant stream of information can make us feel like we have to know everything and respond to everything immediately. So what happens when we don't? We talk about teaching our kids how to deal with the things they can't control, finding healthy ways to unplug, why movies used to feel like actual events, and why sometimes the best thing you can do for yourself is simply step away from the noise. And yes… we still manage to talk about bidets, CrowdStrike glitches, brain farms, and whether we're living inside a giant computer. Because this is Yhea Foo Nah Foo. Listen to yourself. Then maybe turn off your phone.

Episode 163 : Back When Adventure Was Around the Corner with Gelindo and Brother Anthoy

Back When Adventure Was Around the Corner Remember when adventure didn’t require a plane ticket, a reservation, or a phone with GPS? Sometimes, all it took was walking out the front door. In this episode of Yhea Foo Nah Foo, we take a nostalgic—and occasionally questionable—trip back to childhood, when the neighborhood was our playground, the doors were unlocked, and every day had the potential for trouble. From wild childhood adventures and neighborhood stories to college memories and spontaneous hangouts, we talk about the freedom, curiosity, and sense of community that shaped us. But this episode isn’t just about the good old days. It’s also a reminder that adventure didn’t disappear as we got older. Sometimes, we just stopped looking for it. So come laugh with us, remember a few questionable decisions, and maybe get inspired to step outside your comfort zone and create a few new memories of your own. Because adventure might still be right around the corner.

Episode 162: The World Only Spins Once a Day — So Tranquilo, Foo & Enjoy the Ride

162: The World Only Spins Once a Day — So Tranquilo, Foo & Enjoy the Ride Sometimes you start a conversation about watching the sunset… and somehow end up talking about Tupac, American Me, Persian parties, dancing, cleaning out your garage, the price of beef, your kid growing up, Hollywood, and 70mm film. 😂 But somewhere in all the madness, we realized something: Life is happening right now. Put the phone down. Watch the sunset. Take your kid somewhere they'll remember. Help a friend rebuild. Go experience something new. And maybe stop holding onto 15 years of shit in your garage. 😂 Because the world only spins once a day… and if you don't stop and look around every once in a while, you might miss the magic of life. Episode 157: Smoke, Science & Climate Change

What started as a conversation about the Canadian wildfire smoke blanketing the Midwest quickly turned into one of the most educational episodes we've ever recorded. Brother Anthony joins us to break down the science behind climate change in a way that anyone can understand. We discuss why wildfires are becoming more intense, how greenhouse gases actually work, the Earth's natural climate cycles, and why today's warming isn't just part of a normal pattern. Along the way, we tackle common misconceptions, explain the difference between the ozone layer and the greenhouse effect, and explore how climate change affects everything from air quality and wildlife to agriculture and rising sea levels. Whether you're skeptical, curious, or simply looking to better understand the science behind the headlines, this episode focuses on facts, data, and an honest conversation without the politics. It's an eye-opening discussion that reminds us that understanding the world starts with asking good questions—and being willing to listen to the answers.

Episode 156 – From Choirs to the Cosmos with Brother Anthony and Gelindo

What do a Latvian choir, Chicago pizza, broken ribs, Star Wars, and the Milky Way have in common? Somehow...everything. This week on Yhea Foo Nah Foo, the guys take listeners on another unpredictable ride, beginning with a heartwarming story about a choir performance that stopped strangers in their tracks and reminded everyone of the power of music. From there, the conversation wanders into work-life balance, Bob's upcoming conservation trip to Venezuela, and why sometimes the best moments in life happen completely by accident. Along the way, they tackle nutrition myths, explain how your body actually uses protein, swap stories about injuries and endurance races, and even settle the age-old Star Wars question: what exactly is a parsec? Episode 151 : From the Rose Bowl to the World Cup: Why We Keep the Memories

The World Cup is more than just a soccer tournament… it’s a collection of stories. In this episode of Yhea Foo Nah Foo, we dive into the biggest sporting event on the planet and talk about what makes the World Cup so powerful — the passion, the history, the players, the fans, and the moments that bring the world together. We talk about the beauty of the game, but also the complicated side: the money, the politics, the controversies, and how something that was built as “the people’s game” can sometimes feel far away from the people. This Foo shares his love for soccer from the perspective of a player, coach, and fan — including memories of attending the 1994 World Cup with his father and preparing to create a new memory by taking his daughter Kennedy to experience the World Cup. Because in the end, sports are not just about wins and losses. They are about the people you share those moments with. Episode 150: The Pokémon Retirement Plan With James and Gelindo

What started as a simple family dinner conversation quickly turned into one of the most fascinating debates we've ever had on Yhea Foo Nah Foo. When Foo's brother-in-law James revealed that he's been studying the Pokémon card market, the questions started flying. How can a cartoon character be worth more than sports memorabilia? Why are adults spending thousands of dollars on trading cards? And should people be buying Pokémon instead of stocks? In this episode, we dive into the surprising world of Pokémon collecting, card grading, scarcity, supply and demand, celebrity influence, and the psychology behind why humans assign value to certain things. Along the way, we discuss million-dollar Pokémon cards, Logan Paul's impact on the hobby, the legendary "Kabuto Guy" who cornered a niche market, and why unopened boxes have become modern-day treasure chests. More than a conversation about Pokémon, this episode explores investing, nostalgia, community, and the stories that give objects their value. Whether you're a collector, investor, sports fan, or someone who has never opened a pack of Pokémon cards in your life, this episode will have you questioning what makes something truly worth money. So the question is... Would you rather buy a box of Pokémon cards or a share of Google?
