21: Ramon's wife hired a hit man to kill him
Ramon and Lulu had it all – a thriving business, a new home, cars, clothes. They were living well. But when their marriage fell apart, Lulu didn’t want a 50/50 split – she wanted everything. When Ramon did not agree to that, Lulu decided on Plan B – she would hire someone to kill Ramon so she WOULD get everything. She proceeded with that strategy, but things did not work out as she planned.

20: William was hit while biking
William was out riding his bike one day, and was stopped at a stop sign. A car turned the corner toward him, and hit him head on. Classic case of distracted driving – the driver of the car was looking down at his phone at the time. What makes the story more interesting is that the driver was a police officer, and he was driving his police cruiser. William got the whole thing on video.

19: Dan biked to the South Pole
Dan Burton was the first person to bike to the South Pole. He started at the coast of Antarctica, and over 51 days he biked uphill (going from sea level to 9300 feet), against the wind, and in temperatures as low as 40 degrees BELOW zero. In this podcast he told me how he planned and trained for it, what happened along the way, and how he reached his goal. And what happens to a Coke at 40 degrees below zero.

18: Max got a deal on Shark Tank
Max Feber is a 19 year old college student who has developed an innovative, simple way to cold-brew coffee using two mason jars and a double-sided lid. It works great and people are buying it so he went on Shark Tank to get an investment. Mark Cuban gave him $50k for 30% equity in the company. It was a pretty cool experience for Max, and he told me all about what it was like.

17: Sue crashed a skydive
Sue was with her daughter Jessica, and her skydiving buddy Elsie on a beautiful Saturday morning in October. It was a great day to jump out of a plane. Sue came in for the landing but made a last minute turn that turned into disaster. She told me the whole story. Her “never give up” outlook helped her make an unbelievable recovery – including multiple 100+ mile ultramarathons, and a trek to Everest base camp.

16: Alyssa's abuser set himself on fire
Alyssa was a victim of physical and emotional abuse from her boyfriend, Jared McLemore. Finally she convinced police to put out a warrant for his arrest. That night, Jared came to the bar where Alyssa was working, covered himself in gasoline, and set himself on fire. And he did it on Facebook Live. Alyssa told me all about it.

15: Zane was trapped on the hood of a car
Zane is a 20 year old college student at Texas A&M. He and his girlfriend were recently the victims of a hit and run car crash. And within minutes after the crash, Zane found himself hanging desperately on the hood of the car that hit them while the driver swerved and braked to try to get him to fall off.

14: Chris hung from a hang glider
First time hang gliders make that first flight with an experienced pilot. Chris did this while on vacation with his wife in Switzerland. He and the pilot ran a few steps down a hill and got airborne quickly. That’s when Chris realized the pilot forgot to attach him to the glider. 13: Jannike lay down on the railroad tracks
Just 4 years ago, Jannike felt like a total failure. She had problems in many areas of her life, and saw no solutions. The only way out, it seemed to her, was to end her life. She wrote farewell letters to her family. Then, late one night, she found a railroad track to lie down on, and waited for the next train. Today, she is happy with life because of a couple of things that made the difference.

12: Matt fell through the ice
January 5 2017 – a very cold, sunny day on the west coast of Finland. Matt took advantage of the bright day to go cross-country skiing on the ice-covered surface of the Gulf of Bothnia. 500 yards from land, he suddenly felt the ice crack and he went into the water and was unable to get out. He was all alone. But someone saw it happen. In this episode, Matt tells the whole story.

11: Jeremy was bitten by a rattlesnake
Jeremy and Jennifer live near Corpus Christi, Texas. One day while doing yardwork, Jennifer was cornered by a Western Diamondback rattlesnake. Jeremy quickly got a shovel and chopped off its head. A few minutes later when he went to dispose of it, the severed head latched on to his hand and released a large amount of venom. Jeremy tells the story about being close to death more than once over the next several days, including several days of being in a coma.

10: Joey prevented a kidnapping
Joey Grundl is a delivery driver for Dominos. On September 27, 2018, he was bringing a pizza to an address in Waldo, Wisconsin, and he expected it to be just another routine delivery. But it was far from routine. Joey was surprised to find himself at the scene of a kidnapping, and the female at that address was in a desperate situation and needed his help.

9: Brett proposed in court
Tiffany is a probation officer, so on certain days she is working in a courtroom. Brett her is boyfriend of 2 years, and they are madly in love. Brett decides to propose, and he wants to do it in a memorable way. And he wants Tiffany to be completely surprised. She was. He was brought into the courtroom and immediately announced to the judge “I’m guilty!”. Tiffany was absolutely shocked, even after it became clear what was happening. 8: Kami survived a mass shooting
Kami was at the Route 91 Music Festival on October 1, 2017 when the deadliest mass shooting in the history of the US took place. 58 people were killed, and over 800 people were injured as a result of the cowardly killer who opened fire from his hotel room at the Mandalay Bay, aiming at the crowd of 22,000 country music fans below. Just two days earlier, Kami had discovered she was pregnant.

7: Vincent witnessed a teen die by gunshot
Vincent lives in Chicago and works as a photojournalist, so he is accustomed to taking pictures at crime scenes. On this night, however, the crime scene was just outside his front door when 17 year old Michael Patton was shot and killed. Vincent told me exactly what happened that night, and he discussed what this was like for him, both as a photographer and a father.

6: Josh had his leg amputated
Most of us take our legs for granted. They’ve just always been there, so we don’t really think about them much. Until one of them is gone. Josh was a gunner on an Abrams tank in Iraq, and his tank was blown up by a roadside bomb. He told me the whole story – explosion, rescue, treatment, surgeries, and eventually amputation. And he has worked hard to overcome other factors as well, including issues with alcohol and depression. He’s come a long way.

4: Justin met his birth mother
Justin was adopted at birth. He’s now 26 and after a long time searching, he recently found his birth mother, Heather. She had been searching too, and had almost given up hope of reuniting. This is an awesome story of two families finally finding each other. During the interview, Justin got a surprise – Heather had pre-recorded an audio letter for him and I played it for him during our chat. Justin is hoping his story will encourage other adoptees to never give up that search.

3: Samantha only sleeps every 8 days
Samantha has hyper insomnia, so she typically goes 8 days at a time without sleeping. We talked about the medical aspects. I also asked her – what do you do with all that extra awake time? We talked about the advantages, and disadvantages, of this condition. 2: Luke got caught smuggling cocaine
One day in 2016, Luke was in Ft Lauderdale and went into a Subway fast food restaurant and bought a couple of bottles of water. He was feeling very sick, and he knew exactly why he was sick - that the awful feeling in his gut was because a little rubber packet had burst inside his stomach, and some very high quality cocaine was now flooding into his insides. Shortly after this happened, he would be in a coma, and he was in that comatose state for 10 days. All of this was followed by... prison.
