41: Lauren was attacked by a monkey
Lauren was a zookeeper, and part of her daily duties was to bring food and water to the howler monkeys. She loved this family of monkeys, but for some reason the male howler did not like Lauren at all. One day, he saw a brief opportunity to get out of his cage and attack her. This experience led Lauren to leave her job at the zoo and change careers. Now she teaches science, and co-hosts a podcast.

Steve and Camre were excited about becoming parents. They were both surprised when it actually happened though. Little baby Gavin was born 7 weeks early, but he was healthy and strong. While giving birth, Camre had a seizure and had to be put into a medically induced coma. When she awoke, she had no short or long term memory. She did not know Steve, or that she had just had a baby.

Henry teaches marine science. He is also often found scuba diving in Florida rivers, looking for ancient shark teeth, prehistoric fossils, and other artifacts. One day he ran into the unexpected – a live alligator, who clamped down on Henry’s foot, determined to take him to the bottom of the river.

37: Ray went from 500 pounds to ultrarunner
Ray was in very bad health. He was not eating properly, not exercising, experiencing back problems, and could not walk for any extended period of time. And he weighed over 500 pounds. Through a combination of diet, gastric bypass surgery, and exercise, Ray has made a complete turnaround. He has lost 300 pounds, and now runs ultramarathons. And this has all happened in less than three years.

36: Acaimie rescued her husband
Acaimie and Clay were on a volcano hike on Mt Liamuiga, an inactive volcano on the island of St Kitts in the Caribbean. They hiked 2.5 miles up to the rim, then Clay decided he wanted to climb down into the crater. It was pretty steep so Acaimie decided against it. Clay fell hard, fracturing his skull. They were alone and without any cell service, so it was up to Acaimie to get them out of the volcano and to medical help. And this happened on their honeymoon.

35: Ross was blinded by his father
Ross was 8 years old and lived in Charlotte, North Carolina with his mother and father, and his holder brother Ryan, who was 10. By all appearances, they were a happy family. But the marriage was coming apart, and one night his mother announced she wanted a divorce. That’s when Ross’s father got a gun and shot both of his sons, then killed himself. Ross was the only survivor, permanently blind.

34: Diana survived a plane crash
Diana was a medical nurse, sitting in a Lear jet that had just crashed onto a 6-lane road in Lexington, Kentucky. The pilot was unconscious, and the co-pilot had a broken back. The patient being transported had died on impact. Diana could hear the crackling of fire, and smoke was filling the cabin. She had to open the door and get people out of the plane. But she couldn’t stand up, because she herself had a broken back and two broken legs.

Karen found herself in a surprising situation. She was sitting on the side of the road – Interstate 95 in Jacksonville, Florida. She was holding a blanket to her face because she was bleeding. But she didn’t know what had happened. A police officer told her she had been shot. There was a sniper shooting at random cars. Nine cars were hit and six people were injured. And a manhunt was started.

Westin and two of his friends were out on a boat one summer day. Westin was standing out on the bow of the boat as it moved forward, and he fell off the bow, right in front of the boat. On September 6, 2018, Whitney Austin entered the revolving door of the Fifth Third Bank building in Cincinnati, Ohio, where she worked. She never came out the other side. Inside the lobby of the building was an active shooter, and she was shot 12 times. Although three innocent people were killed that day, Whitney amazingly survived. She has now started a non-profit organization dedicated to reducing gun violence.
