When you want to change so badly and somehow still can't

For years I was convinced I simply wasn't disciplined enough. That I didn't want it enough. That I had no willpower. Today I know that that was never the problem. In this week's episode I'm sharing something deeply personal: the health condition I spent most of my life hiding, how I ignored it until I physically couldn't walk anymore, and what I've since learned about why we avoid the things we most want to change. We go into cognitive dissonance and the incredibly creative ways our brain justifies anything, defensive avoidance and why the motivation to change never seems to last, why pressure and being hard on yourself makes it worse rather than better, and what actually helped me break the cycle. If there's something in your life you want to change SO badly and somehow still can't, this one is for you 🤍

The life changing skill of curating instead of consuming

There is such a huge difference between passively consuming content and actively curating what we let into our minds. In this week's episode I break down why it matters so much more than we realise, and exactly how I go about it. I hope you'll enjoy it 🫶🏼 This is the episode that focuses on how to curate your offline life: https://open.spotify.com/episode/55BbfnsskiH21jMYTZV4rb?si=ce04661c8c6d4719 If you haven't already, make sure to follow the truly well instagram account!! https://www.instagram.com/trulywellpodcast/ Lots of love, Nicole

Understanding neuroplasticity will change your entire life

The biggest lie we can tell ourselves is "this is just who I am." I'm just anxious. I'm just not disciplined. I've always been like this. It feels like self-awareness, but it's the most limiting sentence you can say, because the moment you decide something about you is fixed, you stop trying to change it. And the thing is: change is possible. This episode is about neuroplasticity — the science of how our brain physically rewires itself every single day. If you've ever felt stuck, written yourself off as "I'm just that kind of person," or felt like you'll never be able to change, this one is for you 🫶🏼I hope you'll enjoy this episode as much as I did researching it! Thank you so much for listening 🥹 and don't forget to follow the podcast on Instagram!! Why delusional self belief is a superpower (the neuroscience is wild)

"You have to be freakin delusional!!", is what I see all over my Instagram. This delulu is the solulu trend might seem ridiculous, but I went down a neuroscience rabbit hole — and what I found completely changed how I feel about it. It turns out believing before you see it isn't naive. Your brain is doing something real, and kind of incredible, when you do it. But I also found the catch. The exact point where "delulu" stops helping you and starts holding you back. And that part surprised me the most. I hope you'll enjoy this episode as much as I did researching it! Thank you so much for listening 🥹 and don't forget to follow the podcast on Instagram!! Mid year reset: the pep talk you didn’t know you needed

We're half way through this year, and I want us to make the absolute most out of these next 6 months. I want to be honest with you in this one: the last few weeks have not been my best. Nothing horrible happened, I'm fine, I'm healthy, everything's okay, but I'd quietly let myself drift. Skipping workouts. Binge-watching shows. Calling things "self-care" that had actually become self-sabotage. And the frustration of knowing I could do better while not doing better was one of the most uncomfortable feelings I've sat with this year. That's why this week's episode is a little pep talk for you and me, to get back on track, refocus, and re-enter our discipline era 🤍I hope it helps you wherever you are right now, and I send you lots and lots of energy and love!!! 🫶🏼 Thank you so much for listening 🥹 LINKS: Whoop 30 day free trial: join.whoop.com/HWHNicole Kerastase Serum:https://go.shopmy.us/p-15406052 CHAPTERS: 00:00 Intro 04:33 Seeking discomfort 07:04 Challenge yourself 10:41 The 5 non-negotiables 15:10 Making progress 17:18 The most powerful mindset shift 21:20 Stopping the scroll 23:49 Consciously seeking inspiration 28:43 Wrap up

Why you never feel good enough: the neuroscience of self-worth

This is the most personal episode I've ever recorded so far. Because I'm talking about something I've carried my entire life: the feeling of never being good enough. No matter what I achieve, no matter how many people tell me I'm doing great, there's always this quiet voice underneath saying: no you're not. In this episode, I break down what's actually happening in our brain when we feel this way. And then even more importantly, the practical, science-backed ways to change it. I hope this episode is helpful for you wherever you are on this journey right now, and I'm just incredibly grateful you are giving me your time to listen to it. You're not stuck - you're in the wrong environment

"You're not just the average of the 5 people closest to you. You're the average of the 5 places, the 5 routines, and the 5 inputs you're exposed to most. Every space you occupy is voting on who you become." @tishray This quote gave me goosebumps, and in this week's episode, I go into the neuroscience behind WHY our surroundings have this much power over who we become, and what we can do to use that to our absolute advantage, to become the best possible versions of ourselves. I want to do everything so I end up doing nothing

If you're someone who has 100 ideas, 20 tabs open, and a notes app full of dreams — but somehow nothing actually gets done — this episode is for you. This podcast episode was literally a week late because I couldn't decide which topic to record. I kept going back and forth, I procrastinated, I recorded one and hated it, I got completely sidetracked by other things, and then ended up doing nothing. And that's when it got so clear to me, that this pattern I've been stuck in is the same one so many of us are trapped in: wanting to do everything, and ending up doing nothing. In this episode, I'm breaking down the neuroscience of why this happens (spoiler: it's NOT a discipline problem), and what actually works to break out of the freeze. By the end, you'll understand why your brain does this — and you'll have a real, practical plan to finally start finishing things.
