We Answered Your Toughest Sobriety Questions

15 questions. Zero prep. Real people from every stage of recovery. We didn't see a single one of these before hitting record, so you're getting our honest, unfiltered, first-reaction answers to everything from "when does sobriety actually start feeling good" to "how do I forgive myself for the parent I used to be." We also may have called a friend live on the show to stage a very real, very unplanned intervention about his hunting habit. You'll understand when you get there. If you've ever wondered any of this yourself, there's a good chance we answer it in this one. If you want to quit drinking, hit us up. We'll do it with you.

Is Addiction Genetic or Environmental? We Couldn't Agree.

Is addiction something you're born with, or something that happens to you? We didn't agree on this one, and we didn't try to fake it. Some of us think genetics load the gun, others think it's almost entirely environmental. We get into real family history, what the research actually says about genetic markers (spoiler: there isn't a single "addiction gene"), and whether trauma matters more than DNA. We also get into something every parent in recovery thinks about: if you struggled with addiction, is your kid more likely to? And what do you actually do about it if you think they are? This one also gets into a debate around whether addiction should even be classified as a mental health disorder, and not everyone in the room agrees on that either. If you want to quit drinking, hit us up. We'll do it with you!

Zac Clark: Heroin, The Bachelorette, and 15 Years Sober

Zac Clark went from a heroin addiction to national television, and 15 years later, he's the founder of Release Recovery, helping others do what he did. We get into his whole story: growing up with insecurities he covered up through sports, a brain tumor at 24 that introduced him to opioids, and a rock bottom that involved stealing his dad's checkbook and getting arrested, until a bank teller chose kindness over calling the cops and changed the entire trajectory of his life. We also get into something that might surprise you: despite everything he went through with heroin, Zac says alcohol is actually the drug he fears most, and he makes a compelling case for why. This episode also covers what it's like staying sober in the public eye after appearing on The Bachelorette, what part of addiction never fully goes away even after 15 years, and what he'd tell someone who thinks they're "not bad enough" to need help. Check out Zac's podcast, The Zac Clark Show. If you want to quit drinking, hit us up. We'll do it with you!

    I'm Sober. Now What?

"I'm sober. Now what?" We asked each other that question, rapid-fire, no prep. If you've already put the drink down and have no idea what comes next, this episode is for you. We get into what the first real steps look like, how to fill the time alcohol used to consume, why you're going to be bored (and why that's actually a good sign), why you'll probably lose some friends, and the uncomfortable truth that getting sober doesn't make your problems disappear, sometimes it makes them bigger, because you're finally paying attention to them. New episodes drop every Tuesday and Thursday. If you want to quit drinking, hit us up. We'll do it with you!

Alcohol vs Nicotine: Which One Actually Kills More People?

Would you rather your kid grow up drinking, or using nicotine? We put that question to the table with no research, no prep, just gut instinct. The answers were split. Then we pulled up the actual numbers on how many people die from alcohol versus nicotine every year, and it completely changed the conversation. This episode gets into which one is actually more dangerous, why nicotine addiction is so much harder to see from the outside, the difference between vaping, pouches, patches, and cigarettes, and a genuinely embarrassing story about two-year-old Zyn pouches on a boat that you have to hear to believe. We don't land on a clean answer, because there isn't one. But we get real about our own relationship with nicotine, and what it would actually take for us to quit. If you want to quit drinking, or take a hard look at your relationship with nicotine, hit us up. We'll do it with you.

Sobriety Cost Me My Friends. Here's Why.

"If I get sober, do I have to stop hanging out with all my friends who drink?" We got this question from a viewer named Matthew, and it hit close enough to home that we built this whole episode around it. Losing friends in early sobriety is one of the loneliest, least talked about parts of getting clean, so we're getting into all of it: which friendships are actually worth keeping, whether you should bring old drinking buddies back into your life once they get sober too, and what it actually feels like the day you realize your whole friend group was built on using. We also get into something nobody really talks about, the fact that your sobriety will unintentionally hold up a mirror to everyone around you, and that's not always going to feel good to them. If you're scared of losing people because you're thinking about getting sober, this one's for you. Got a question you want us to answer on the show? Send it our way. We always say, if you want to better your life, start by putting the alcohol down. If you want to get sober, hit us up. We'll do it with you.

You Don't Have to Drink Every Day to Be an Alcoholic

You only drink on the weekends, you go to work every day, you take care of your family and pay your bills, so there's no way you have a drinking problem, right? We sat down and asked ourselves 5 simple questions to figure out where the actual line is between casual weekend drinking and a real problem. Then we flipped it, 5 self-check questions you can ask yourself right now to see if your relationship with alcohol is headed somewhere you don't want it to go. This episode isn't about how much you drink or how often. It's about the planning, the obsession, the rules you keep breaking, and the version of yourself that shows up when alcohol's involved. If any of this sounds familiar, you're not alone, and you don't have to figure it out by yourself. If you want to quit drinking, hit us up. We'll do it with you.

Why the First 72 Hours of Alcohol Withdrawal Are More Dangerous Than Meth or Heroin

Turns out the most dangerous drug to detox from isn't the illegal one everyone assumes it is. It's the one that's legal, socially acceptable, and sitting in everyone's fridge right now. We get real about the physical symptoms, the hallucinations, the emotional tidal wave that hits days later, and what it's actually like to detox alone versus with support. We also talk about what loved ones need to understand before someone they care about goes through this, because withdrawal doesn't just happen to the person using, it happens to everyone around them too. If you or someone you love is thinking about getting sober, please talk to a doctor before stopping any substance, some withdrawals, especially alcohol and benzodiazepines, can be medically dangerous without supervision. If you want to quit drinking, hit us up. We'll do it with you.

We go through our own stories, from stealing gum out of our moms' purses to full blown addiction, and rank which habits are the biggest warning signs. This isn't about being perfect. It's about being honest with yourself before rock bottom forces you to be. If any of this hits home, you don't have to figure it out alone. If you want to quit drinking, hit us up, we'll do it with you.
