Episode 115: I Wanted to Be a Footballer. But Looking Back, I'd Do So Much Differently.

Growing up, all I wanted was to become a footballer. I put in plenty of effort over the years but looking back now, I often wonder how much better I could've gotten if I'd understood a few things better. And maybe there's a lesson in that for anyone who's been training for years, putting in the hours but still feels like they're not quite getting the results they should be. Because sometimes the frustrating part isn't a lack of effort its realising that the effort you're putting in might not actually be getting you closer to where you want to go. In this episode, I share a few personal stories around training, nutrition, IBS and the psychological side of it, along with some things I'd encourage anyone who's feeling a bit stuck with their own progress to think about. If you've been working hard at your fitness for a while, I think this one could be worth 20 minutes of your time. Episode 115 is live now. Thanks a million to anyone who gives it a listen and as always id be grateful to let me know what you think and if youve any questions or can relate feel free to let us know.

Episode 114: The Benefit of Training You Can't See in the Mirror

We talk a lot about training for fat loss, getting stronger, running faster or hitting PBs. But tbf some of the biggest things training has given me over the years have had absolutely nothing to do with how I look. There have been times when life was busy, stressful or just a bit mad and training was simply somewhere I could go for an hour put the phone away and get out of my own head. And I see the same thing with so many people I coach today. When you've got a demanding job, family, responsibilities and people needing something from you all day, sometimes that run or gym session is one of the few parts of the week that's completely yours. It gives you headspace, something to look forward to, improve at and every now/ again, a little reminder that you're capable of doing difficult things. That's what I chatted about in this particular show. Because yes, getting fitter and stronger is brilliant but sometimes feeling a little better when you walk out than you did when you walked in is a pretty good result too in my book. Hope you enjoy todays show and if you did feel free to share it with a friend as id be super grateful.

Episode 113: It Shouldn't All Feel Like Homework

Getting healthier shouldn't mean spending your whole bloody day thinking about being healthy. Years ago, one of my teachers used to say: "It shouldn't take you all day to do your homework." For some reason that always stuck with me and the older I've gotten, the more I think it applies perfectly to fitness. In Episode 113 I chat about why doing more or spending more time doesn't automatically mean you're more committed, why your training should be built around the life you actually have and why the ultimate goal should eventually be to think about your food and training less, not more. Because fitness should give you more freedom to enjoy your life not become your entire personaility. Episode 113 is live now, share it with a friend and if you enjoyed it be sure to let me know.

Episode 112: How to Get Back Into Training Without Going 0–100 Again

In the last episode I talked about getting everything again after you've ( I wink, wink ) fallen off track. This one is about what happens next. How do you stop going from 0–100, burning yourself out and ending up back where you started? I chat about setting a minimum dose, dealing with the inevitable bad days and actually building something you can still see yourself doing a month from now as you need something you can keep coming back too. 🎙️ Episode 112 is live now, let us know what you think and feel free to share with a friend if you got some benefit from todays show.

#111: If You've Fallen Off Track, Listen To This

110 shows done... then I didnt record another for nearly 10 months. Anyway... we back. I kept thinking about getting the pod going again, but like most things, I was probably making the restart far bigger than it needed to be. So totday I just sat down, turned the mic on and recorded for a few minutes and basically thats what Eposdide 111 is about. Whether its training, food, running, work or a friendship or something youve fallen away from, you dont always need some massive POA to get yourself back on track. Sometimes you just need to do one smll thing that gets the wheel turning again. For me today, was about pressing record. Going to keep these next few shows short, consise and useful. Ep 111 is live and its good to be back :)
