Exorcist III (1990) - HHF4F3

We’re getting whiplash when it comes to quality for FRANCHISE FREAK FRIDAYS but that’s just how it goes when you horrorload for HALLOWEEN HUMPFEST. It’s just gotta be done. After the Exorcist’s sequel, which should only be consumed by the most loyal Fangoria subscribers, got universally panned it took thirteen years to get another one. William Peter Blatty really wanted to save that film legacy the best he could so they let him adapt his own book this time and brought in General Patton himself, George C. Scott and a young Brad Dourif to bring the creeping and possession to a different level. Thus we have EXORCIST III from 1990. We might call this a narrow redemption but apparently audiences are split on this one. What do you think? The Last Man on Earth (1964) - HHF4Th3

THRILLER THURSDAYS WITH VINCENT PRICE CONTINUES for five straight weeks in October. It’s HALLOWEEN HUMPFEST season and it feels so good. But you know what doesn’t feel good? Being the last human being on planet Earth. That last man makes his way, stabbing vampires/zombies/ghouls, burning their bodies, crying over his dead wife and salting meats. He had to really salt a lot of meat. The first adaptation of Richard Matheson’s “I Am Legend” is this 1964 sci-fi horror ‘THE LAST MAN ON EARTH” and when all the humans are gone, what are the monsters that are left behind? We’re rolling over our second hump for HALLOWEEN HUMPFEST 4. Our second hump for HAMMER HORROR HUMPDAYS every Wednesday in October and today’s selection is all about the cost of immortality. Though everything would have been fine if Dr. Ludwig had maybe let him know that he had a stroke before hand. Can the intensley melodramatic Dr. Bonner find someone to do his surgery so he can make it to 114 years old? What will he do to cheat death? That’s why the movie is called THE MAN WHO COULD CHEAT DEATH from 1959 and it’s by prolific Hammer alumns Terrance Fisher and Jimmy Sangster. It also stars Christopher Lee. The Hammer fare is pretty easy to find so we have a link to the movie below if you feel like enlightening yourself further. I would gladly do gland replacement surgery on you if you asked. I can’t believe we went through this whole weird and wild movie and forgot to mention the best part…the Monica Belluci breast to mountain scene transition. Of course a French guy would come up with that. It ruled so add a half a point to the final score. That said WELCOME TO HALLOWEEN HUMPFEST 4 and every Monday we’re talkin’ creatures of varying proportions of “big” and this one may be our smallest monster but no less dangerous and probably the most mysterious. Today’s HERE THERE BE MONSTER MONDAYS episode features creatures, babes, a naturalist Knight, an Iroquois ninja, an unkempt arm and a burgeoning revolution in 18th century France. A smash hit over there and a cult success here in the US. Of course we’re talking about BROTHERHOOD OF THE WOLF from 2001 directed by Christophe Gans. By the time it’s done it feels like they managed everything but the kitchen sink in this flick. There were literally zero kitchen sinks. Of all the monsters featured for our Mondays, this one feels the most sympathetic in spite of the film’s barreling approach. Not perfect but there’s a Monica Bellucci scene where her breast are out and it transitions them into a mountain range. What more do you need, really? THE EXORCIST is our pick for our HALLOWEEN HUMPFEST 4 Franchised Freak Fridays and this sequel might be as notorious as its predecessor but for all the wrong reasons. This is our first time viewing EXORCIST II: THE HERETIC and we were warned but somehow that wasn’t enough. All that money spent on what is arguably the most derided sequel in all of horror. IN HORROR! A genre with a ridiculous amount of terrible movies! So let’s ignore the point of essential scenes in the first movie and create some brain syncing device and drag out a young woman’s horrific trauma that she miraculously doesn’t remember. Then there’s the locusts and my dawg, Kokomo, and autism. How the hell do you even talk about this movie? Every Thriller Thursday all October long belongs to VINCENT PRICE because it is HALLOWEEN HUMPFEST ONCE AGAIN! For this Vincent piece we hit up a showcase in classic horror tension that has somewhat the same plot as “House on Haunted Hill” except it’s further in the past & a generation removed from the antics of the Spanish Inquisition. Yeah, dawg. It’s “THE PIT & THE PENDULUM” from 1961. You don’t want to get rid of the blood stained and well worn torture equipment. Those things could be collector’s items! This is one of Price’s prolific Poe adaptations and it’s been way too long since we’ve read this one, if ever, but this is two Vincent Price conversations in a row where a cucking doctor plots with a pretend dead wife of another man. Every weekday during HALLOWEEN HUMPFEST 4 represents its own horror sub-theme and each Wednesday we’re going to visit films from that movie studio across the pond, Hammer. Their prolific horror varieties to be exact. Because this isn’t our first HAMMER HORROR HUMPDAY celebration. Hammer Horror during Halloween Humpfest has become a Projectors tradition from back when our show name was exceptionally stupid. Today’s Hammer selection can actually be found on YouTube through our links below. This is a brighter Hammer than we’re used to as it occurs mostly on a snow capped mountain. We’re talking THE ABOMINABLE SNOWMAN from 1957 starring one of our all-time favorites and Hammer hero PETER CUSHING. He’s a bonafide DAWG. I Was A Teenage Werewolf (1957) - HHF4T1

Let’s keep this first full week of HALLOWEEN HUMPFEST 4 rolling hard with an introduction to our Tuesday Horror sub-theme. It’s all about change and becoming something else and we’re tackling the subject from a variety of tragic angles. We’re starting off TRANSFORMATION TUESDAYS with a drive-in smash hit that you can find easily on YouTube (link below). It’s called ”I Was A Teenage Werewolf” from 1957 and it stars a young Michael Landon, a guy who got our grandmothers horny. It’s plenty campy and those teeth could have been better but at those drive-ins they were making it out in the back seat more than paying attention I’m sure. Tony is fucking mad all the damn time and he eats raw beef so he’s ripe for some experimentation into human regression which basically means you’re a werewolf. Godzilla (1954) - HHF4M1

HALLOWEEN HUMPFEST IS BACK and we’re in the fourth year! “HUMPFEST” derives from when we were called “MOVIEHUMPERS” and this theme, along with “Movies Are Gay” is our most consistent. We’re doing the whole month classic style which means each day of the weekday covers a Horror sub-genre and Mondays are devoted the kaiju type. Mondays are called HERE THERE BE MONSTER MONDAYS and our first Monday in October kicks off with a discussion on the greatest of all the city destroying beast, the King of the Monsters, the original Kaiju. Of course we’re talkin’ GODZILLA, specifically the 1954 film by Ishirō Honda that kicked off the international phenomenon. What a treat to sit through this groundbreaking flick after probably not watching a Godzilla movie since we were children. It may be a man in a rubber suit, maybe the eyes look funny, but the foreboding dread and scope of destruction are captured amazingly. Not to mention the scale models and old school practical effects that are more and more becoming a thing of the past. Through the context of film history, Godzilla holds up nice so hit play on this episode and hear what else we got to say about it. This ep is kinda loosey goosey and a good amount of fun. THE EXORCIST is every Friday and today breaks it in with the original EXORCIST film from 1973. One of the most talked about movies of all time. A real game changer. We don’t split hairs as much as talk about our favorite moments, give some crazy facts behind the scenes and reflect on the legacy of the classic film. House on Haunted Hill (1958) - HHF4Th1

YEAR FOUR OF HALLOWEEN HUMPFEST BEGINS! We’re kicking this monthlong cavalcade of daily themed horror just right with a guy we’ve taken too long to get to. The horror queen…er, King himself…VINCENT PRICE. In our youth, Vincent Price was a narrative voice more than anything but now we finally sit down with five of his films, each Thursday this month, and what a good time at the movies that turned out to be. We’ll encompass three decades of the Master of the Macabre starting with this hit horror classic from 1958, “HOUSE ON HAUNTED HILL”. This is an early adaptation of a story that keeps coming back around throughout the generations. Everybody has to stay in a haunted house if they want 10 grand, but it’s not just a haunted place where people were killed in bizarre ways, it’s the perfect setting for the fall of an amazing marriage. Finally, we wrap up New Jersey for our AINT THAT AMERICA series and things got shuffled around a little bit before we decided last minute to switch to this oddball ass movie. We scrapped “Jersey Girl” and then “Paterson” for a little less North Jersey representation but truth be told the geography is haywire in the 1991 Dan Aykroyd film ‘NOTHING BUT TROUBLE” starring him, Chevy Chase, Demi Moore and John Candy. If you’ve ever seen this movie then you may never forget it but not for all the right reasons. It’s hard to explain.
