The Strange Disappearance of UFOs: Last of the Great Close Encounters | MHP 10.06.26.
In the autumn of 1973, the United States experienced one of the most remarkable UFO waves in modern history. From bizarre reports of alleged landings and humanoid occupants to the famous Pascagoula encounter and the Coyne helicopter incident, hundreds of sightings emerged across the country during a period when UFOs seemed to be almost everywhere. Similar high-profile encounters continued throughout the 1970s and 1980s—but in the decades since, something appears to have changed. This week on The Micah Hanks Program, we revisit the extraordinary UFO wave of 1973 and ask a deceptively simple question: where have all the UFOs gone? While UFO reports certainly haven't disappeared, the classic high-strangeness Close Encounter seems conspicuously rarer today. We examine what factors could explain the apparent shift, along with speculations about what it all could potentially mean. The Socorro Insignia: The Secret History of Blue Book's Best Case | MHP 09.30.26.
On April 24, 1964, Socorro, New Mexico police officer Lonnie Zamora reported encountering a strange egg-shaped craft resting in the desert, accompanied by two small figures and bearing an unusual red insignia on its side. Moments later, the object reportedly lifted from the ground with a roar and disappeared into the distance. Investigated by the U.S. Air Force's Project Blue Book, the Socorro incident would become one of the most famous—and perplexing—UFO cases of the twentieth century. In this episode of The Micah Hanks Program, we take a deep dive into the Socorro mystery, examining Zamora's remarkable account, the physical evidence investigators documented at the scene, and the competing theories that have emerged in the decades since. We also look closely at one of the case's most intriguing details: the mysterious insignia Zamora said he observed on the craft, including the controversy surrounding its true appearance and whether this curious symbol might have held the key to solving what has often been described as one of Project Blue Book's best-documented unexplained cases. Government UFO Files Unsealed: Inside The Pentagon's Sixth Pursue Release | MHP 09.22.26.
The Pentagon has released its sixth tranche of records under the PURSUE initiative, revealing an unusual collection of UAP-related material spanning more than seven decades of American military and intelligence history. From newly released historical records involving former Project Blue Book chief Edward J. Ruppelt to documents produced under the Defense Intelligence Agency's secretive AAWSAP program—including studies involving warp drives, wormholes, and reported biological effects associated with anomalous aerospace encounters—the files offer a remarkable glimpse into the government's evolving interest in UFOs and advanced aerospace technologies. This week on The Micah Hanks Program, we examine what the Pentagon's latest files actually reveal, including what is genuinely new in the latest release, what has been publicly available before, and what these records can tell us about more than 70 years of government efforts to understand unexplained phenomena in the skies. Sasquatch and Government: Official Files and the Relict Hominoid Enigma | MHP 09.15.26.
For decades, stories of alleged Sasquatch encounters have emerged from some of America's most remote forests—but what happens when the witnesses are park rangers, military personnel, government scientists, and other public officials? And if such reports have reached government agencies over the years, what records might exist documenting what witnesses claimed to have seen? This week on The Micah Hanks Program, we revisit the strange intersection of Sasquatch and the U.S. government, beginning with an eerie military encounter before examining references to Bigfoot on U.S. Forest Service websites, a remarkable series of incidents preserved in the historical records of Crater Lake National Park, and documents obtained through Freedom of Information Act requests. We also explore alleged encounters around Yellowstone, the story of a man who tracked Sasquatch for the state of Wyoming, and testimony from researchers and witnesses who have spent decades pursuing one of North America's most enduring mysteries. Incident at Delphos: Anatomy of a UFO Investigation | MHP 09.08.26.
Nothing seemed out of the ordinary on the night of November 2, 1971, as 16-year-old Ronald Johnson was tending the sheep behind his family's farm near Delphos, Kansas. That would all change within a matter of minutes, after a sudden rumbling noise caught his attention, prompting the young farmer to step outside—leading him to a face-to-face encounter with the unexplained. This week, we examine the famous Delphos, Kansas UFO incident, looking at details that include photos of a glowing ring on the ground where the object had allegedly hovered, and how subsequent analysis of soil samples helped make the Delphos case one of the more unusual purported physical-trace UFO incidents of the era. Atomic Secrets of the UFO: UAP Encounters at Nuclear Sites | MHP 09.01.26.
Since the dawn of the atomic age, UFO reports have frequently involved sightings near nuclear weapons facilities, missile installations, laboratories, power facilities, and other nuclear-related infrastructure, both in the United States and abroad. Some incidents have included more controversial allegations of apparent interference with nuclear weapons or associated systems, although the evidence supporting such claims varies considerably. This week on The Micah Hanks Program, we examine this historical pattern, and look at famous sightings near nuclear sites, and what they reveal about whether UAPs deliberately target these facilities, as well as lingering questions about the possible motives of their presumed operators. Interrupted Journey: The Betty and Barney Hill Controversy, Revisited | MHP 08.26.26.
More than six decades after Betty and Barney Hill reported a mysterious encounter while driving through New Hampshire's White Mountains, their story remains one of the most influential—and controversial—cases in UFO history. But what can the surviving evidence, from rare historical documents to archival recordings and surviving U.S. Air Force Project Blue Book records, actually tell us about what happened to the couple on that night back in 1961? This week on The Micah Hanks Program, we revisit the famous case with a review of information documented immediately after the incident, and how it compares with later information that surfaced through dreams, hypnosis, and subsequent investigations. Finally, we also examine the radar reports recorded around the time of the encounter by the U.S. Air Force's Project Blue Book, and skeptical explanations that have emerged over the decades—all in an effort to reevaluate one of history's most complex and culturally significant UFO encounters. Invasion of the Orbs: Spherical UAP in Our Skies | MHP 08.18.26.
For decades, sightings of unusual, spherical objects have been reported in our skies. Often described as metallic silver, translucent, or illuminated in fiery orange or red, flying objects matching this description were even reported by Allied pilots over Europe during WWII as a possible new advanced weapon developed by Nazi Germany. Today, the Pentagon's All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office continues to collect reports about these mysterious "orbs," which constitute the single largest category of UAP reports it collects. This week on The Micah Hanks Program, we look at striking examples of sightings and close encounters involving spherical UAP, also often referred to as "orbs," as well as official investigations by the U.S. government into these objects and their anomalous behavior. Triangle UAP: The Pentagon's 'PURSUE' Release 05 | MHP 08.11.26.
It began on a summer night in 2011, when someone in the vehicle noticed three odd lights overhead. Curious, one of the occupants stepped out of the vehicle and looked up. Now, according to a witness interview released years later by the U.S. Department of War, what appeared above them was not simply three lights, but a massive, dark, triangular object moving silently across the night sky. This case, and several others involving mysterious triangle UAPs in our skies, are among those included in the Pentagon's fifth tranche of UAP files released under its PURSUE initiative. This week on The Micah Hanks Program, we look at the latest U.S. government UAP cases revealed with the recent publication of PURSUE Release 05, and how one very unusual and increasingly prominent class of unidentified flying objects—massive black triangle UAP—have become a central focus for investigations by the Pentagon's AARO and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Anatomy of an Enigma: Black Projects, Hidden Aircraft, and UFO Encounters | MHP 08.04.26.
Since the dawn of the new millennium, unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP) have gradually evolved from a fringe subject into a legitimate national security issue. Key developments that include the 2000 Illinois police triangle sighting, reporting on classified "black" military programs and the Pentagon's "shadow military," and other events illustrate how intelligence agencies and defense analysts increasingly viewed unexplained aerial reports not as curiosities, but as potential intelligence problems worthy of systematic investigation. This week on The Micah Hanks Program, we look at how UAP-related developments in the 21st century have shaped the study of unexplained aerospace phenomena. These include the investigations by Robert Bigelow's NIDS, the DIA's AAWSAP, and subsequent UAP investigations like the Pentagon's AARO, their pursuit of answers to recurring reports involving triangle-shaped craft and glowing orbs, and what they mean in terms of secrecy, intelligence, and the investigation of UAP. The AARO Files: The 2025 Annual UAP Report, Official Responses, and Conspiracies | MHP 07.29.26.
Last week, the Pentagon's All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO) released its Fiscal Year 2025 Consolidated Annual Report on Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena, revealing its latest findings involving unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAP). Among its key findings, AARO's report conveys that the Office continues to collect data on hundreds of objects it cannot yet identify and states that some sightings over sensitive military facilities could represent an "unmitigated threat vector" to U.S. national security. This week on The Micah Hanks Program, in addition to an analysis of AARO's latest findings, we also recap the recent 2026 Scientific Coalition for UAP Studies (SCU) event held in Toronto, Canada. Finally, we examine recent conspiracy theories related to the topic and explore why some unfounded speculations persist despite the uncertainty inherent in UAP studies. Nimitz: The DIA/BAASS Investigations | MHP 07.21.26.
On November 14, 2004, the USS Nimitz Carrier Strike Group Eleven steamed through the clear waters roughly eighty nautical miles west of San Diego beneath cloudless California skies. Unbeknownst to many on board, for nearly a week, operators deep inside the strike group's Combat Information Center aboard the USS Princeton had been watching something they could not explain. Initially dismissed as equipment anomalies, the contacts refused to disappear, returning repeatedly and exhibiting flight characteristics that seasoned radar operators struggled to reconcile with anything they had encountered before. This week on The Micah Hanks Program, we take a deep dive into the investigations by the Defense Intelligence Agency's Advanced Aerospace Weapons Systems Application Program (AAWSAP) and the evaluation of the historic Nimitz incident by its contractor group, Bigelow Aerospace Advanced Space Studies. What does this candid look at the official side of investigations into the landmark case reveal, and what does it suggest about a recently proposed "explanation" for the historic UAP sighting? The Pentagon has released its fourth tranche of videos and documents related to UAP under its Presidential Unsealing and Reporting System for UAP Encounters (PURSUE) initiative, with the latest batch of materials now available for viewing at the U.S. Department of War's website. However, the latest revelations only add to a growing number of indistinct videos and other materials that raise more questions than they provide answers to. This week on The Micah Hanks Program, we delve into what the latest PURSUE Release 04 contains and some of the questions that arise from viewing the new UAP materials. Is this really "Disclosure" that we're seeing, or are the recent UAP materials released by the Pentagon just the latest distraction in a long history of similar efforts by the U.S. government? UAP Materials: 'Alien' Wreckage, or Earthly Oddities? | MHP 06.30.26.
For many decades, UFO researchers have obtained unusual samples alleged to be UAP materials recovered from crash events or other instances where physical traces of these anomalous aerial objects were present. In nearly every case where scientific analysis was undertaken, these unusual samples also revealed signatures that suggest Earthly origins. But should this necessarily mean they aren't worthy of further interest by UAP researchers? This week on The Micah Hanks Program, we examine a "cautionary tale" of alleged alien wreckage that turned out to have a down-to-Earth explanation, as well as the controversy surrounding materials allegedly recovered from the New Mexico desert in 1947, and what analysis by the Pentagon's All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office and Oak Ridge National Lab revealed about them. We also examine why an analysis that reveals an Earthly provenance for some alleged UAP wreckage shouldn't preclude their possible relationship to understanding the broader mystery. In 1977, a U.S. Navy Pilot who was employed with the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency was en route to Japan after conducting a pair of missions over the Pacific when, suddenly, a lonely midnight flight over international waters took a turn for the uncanny. This week on The Micah Hanks Program, we examine one of the best cases in the history of the U.S. intelligence community and its personnel's encounters with unidentified anomalous phenomena, as we analyze a harrowing incident report involving an unexplained "interloper" that followed a CIA aircraft across the Pacific. Disclosure Day: Revealing the Truth About Non-Human Intelligence | MHP 06.09.26.
Congressional hearings, whistleblower allegations, and the release of new government records in recent weeks have continued to fuel public questions of whether long-hidden information about UFOs may finally be coming to light. And part of that fascination also extends to Hollywood, with the forthcoming release of Steven Spielberg's film Disclosure Day, which early reviews have called one of the Close Encounters of the Third Kind director's best films in decades. This week on The Micah Hanks Program, we look at the possibility of a real-life "Disclosure Day," and how a scientific committee long involved in the serious search for evidence of intelligent life on other worlds is working on establishing new protocols for how final proof of alien life should be revealed to the public if we find them. Top Secret UMBRA: The National Security Agency's UAP Files | MHP 06.02.26.
In the 1980s, a small group of citizen FOIA activists went up against the United States Intelligence Community in an effort to secure the release of secret UFO files. That effort, led by the Citizens Against UFO Secrecy (CAUS), was largely successful, although a wealth of secret files related to UAP were withheld by the NSA. However, now there has been a break in the decades-old case, with an announcement by the Disclosure Foundation regarding the release of hundreds of pages of previously classified NSA records tied to UFO investigations, after successfully challenging the agency's denial of a request for materials. This week on The Micah Hanks Program, we look at what the new file release tells us about the NSA's involvement in the collection of UFO information over the last several decades, as detailed in decades-old documents, many of which had been classified at the highly sensitive TOP SECRET UMBRA level.
