The Daily Breadcast

Someone Who Wants to Help

Jesus told Satan: "Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God."

We need to put on the whole armor of God so we can stand against the wiles of the devil.

That begins with a daily dose of nourishment that can only come from the Word of God!!!

Clear Vision - A Very Ritchie Series (No.48)

The wind was howling, really howling. The snow was falling so fast that when I turned back to look where I had been, there were no tracks. I had been skiing most of the morning doing well, but as the day progressed, the conditions deteriorated. This was a full-on blizzard! I had not planned well. I only brought a pair of sunglasses, no goggles. My glasses froze over and became useless as the temperatures dropped. I thought to myself, “how am I going to find the way down, I can’t see a thing.” Through squinting eyes and the stinging snow, I ran into Matt, just about literally ran over him. One of his boots had broken and he was moving down the mountain with great difficulty, trying to hold one ski in one hand, poles in the other skiing on one leg. Thankfully he let me team up with him. I carried his stuff and he looked ahead to see the way. The blizzard was so fierce he could only see 10-15 feet. So, we would ski that far, stop, look and move ahead that distance. It took a while, but we finally made it down. Funny, we didn’t see anyone else on the mountain! Funny nothing. Everyone else was smart! #christjesus #love #pray #prayer #gaintheworld #jesus #church #christ #newepisode #churchofchrist #TheOneTrueGod #willard #chroniclesofwillard

Purpose - Walk with the Lord Series (No.7)

Life has to be more than just work; surely we have a greater purpose in life. It has been said, “We play at our work and work at our play.” But surely life is more than work and play. Flawed is the thinking that our greater purpose is to solve the world’s problems, eliminate terrorism, or feed and clothe all the hungry. Noble though they may be, there is a greater purpose. It can be found right under our noses, and that purpose will provide fuel for a meaningful life. “Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has laid hold of me. Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things ahead. I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward of God in Christ Jesus” (Phil. 3:12-14). #christjesus #love #pray #prayer #gaintheworld #jesus #church #christ #newepisode #churchofchrist #TheOneTrueGod #willard #chroniclesofwillard #walkwiththelord

Wisdom is from God - Wise vs. Foolish (#3)

“My son, if you receive my words, And treasure my commands within you, So that you incline your ear to wisdom, And apply your heart to understanding; Yes, if you cry out for discernment, And lift up your voice for understanding, If you seek her as silver, And search for her as for hidden treasures; Then you will understand the fear of the Lord, And find the knowledge of God. For the Lord gives wisdom; From His mouth come knowledge and understanding; He stores up sound wisdom for the upright; He is a shield to those who walk uprightly; He guards the paths of justice, And preserves the way of His saints. Then you will understand righteousness and justice, Equity and every good path. When wisdom enters your heart, And knowledge is pleasant to your soul, Discretion will preserve you; Understanding will keep you, To deliver you from the way of evil, From the man who speaks perverse things, From those who leave the paths of uprightness To walk in the ways of darkness; Who rejoice in doing evil, And delight in the perversity of the wicked; Whose ways are crooked, And who are devious in their paths; To deliver you from the immoral woman, From the seductress who flatters with her words, Who forsakes the companion of her youth, And forgets the covenant of her God. For her house leads down to death, And her paths to the dead; None who go to her return, Nor do they regain the paths of life— So you may walk in the way of goodness, And keep to the paths of righteousness. For the upright will dwell in the land, And the blameless will remain in it; But the wicked will be cut off from the earth, And the unfaithful will be uprooted from it.” ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭2‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ #wise #fool #wisdom #foolish #inchrist #speaklife #dietoself #vanity #fearGod #pride #selflove #BibleStudy #ChristianPodcast #BiblicalLove #GodIsLove #FaithPodcast #ScriptureStudy #ChristianLiving #BiblicalTruth #LoveInAction #FaithAndLife #SpiritualGrowth #BibleVerses #ChristianTeaching

Book, Chapter and Verse - A Very Ritchie Series (No.47)

How many times have you heard that line? For those who are older, likely you heard it a lot. Many times, that was used as an expression of derision saying, “you don’t think for yourself, you just quote scripture.” What’s wrong with that? When I was a child, we had memory verses weekly. We were quizzed on those verses, and it could have been one we learned 5 weeks ago. We recited the books of the Bible. Sometimes we were asked to recite starting from Isaiah or 2 Corinthians. Sometimes we were asked, “the book before…” I thought they were inventing methods of mental torture. But it was a method of emphasis upon knowing God’s word. #christjesus #love #pray #prayer #gaintheworld #jesus #church #christ #newepisode #churchofchrist #TheOneTrueGod #willard #chroniclesofwillard

    Take a Walk - A Very Ritchie Series (No.46)

A mother’s son became very angry and exchanged harsh words. The mother told her son, “go take a walk.” The son complied in disgust. He stomped out of the room then out of the house and began to walk the neighborhood. As he walked, he mumbled to himself complaining about how his mother was unfair. At times he would stomp grumbling as he rehearsed the event. He eventually returned home where his mother was waiting. As he walked up to her, she could see the expression on his face was one of anger. As she asked how he was feeling, he began to vent that anger towards her. She raised her arm pointing to the sidewalk and said again, “go take a walk.” He stomped away. As he took that second walk, his thoughts began to change. He rehearsed his mother’s words instead of his own. The realization of his disrespect and belligerence became apparent. The further he walked the more labored his footsteps became; finally returning home. As he opened the door his drooped shoulders and bowed head told his mother the condition of his heart. #christjesus #love #pray #prayer #gaintheworld #jesus #church #christ #newepisode #churchofchrist #TheOneTrueGod #willard #chroniclesofwillard

Character - Walk with the Lord Series (No.6)

How often do we focus on talent, education, intelligence, or athleticism? In our world it’s the smart, beautiful, witty, and athletic ones we consider successes. If, on the other hand, you’re fat, ugly, dumb, and clumsy you are nobody. Judging people from the outward has always been around. Nebuchadnezzar did it with Daniel. He thought that because Daniel was good looking he was also be smart. When Samuel went into the house of Jesse, he saw all of David’s brothers. They all looked like kings, but God did not look out the outside: he looks at the heart (1 Sam. 16:7). #christjesus #love #pray #prayer #gaintheworld #jesus #church #christ #newepisode #churchofchrist #TheOneTrueGod #willard #chroniclesofwillard #walkwiththelord

Above My Pay Grade - Wise vs Foolish (#1)

“This wisdom I have also seen under the sun, and it seemed great to me: There was a little city with few men in it; and a great king came against it, besieged it, and built great snares around it. Now there was found in it a poor wise man, and he by his wisdom delivered the city. Yet no one remembered that same poor man. Then I said: “Wisdom is better than strength. Nevertheless the poor man’s wisdom is despised, And his words are not heard. Words of the wise, spoken quietly, should be heard Rather than the shout of a ruler of fools. Wisdom is better than weapons of war; But one sinner destroys much good.”” ‭‭Ecclesiastes‬ ‭9‬:‭13‬-‭18‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ #wise #fool #wisdom #foolish #inchrist #speaklife #dietoself #vanity #fearGod #pride #selflove #BibleStudy #ChristianPodcast #BiblicalLove #GodIsLove #FaithPodcast #ScriptureStudy #ChristianLiving #BiblicalTruth #LoveInAction #FaithAndLife #SpiritualGrowth #BibleVerses #ChristianTeaching

I Can Do All Things - A Very Ritchie Series (No.45)

Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through him who strengthens me.” Our beliefs are challenged. Our honesty as Christians is tested in the face of trouble if we remain honest. We are overwhelmed with work by employment or at home. This is when we recite this passage to revive strength, which is good. But the context of this powerful statement is to be content within our spirit. The strength of Christ is to withstand duress, not overpower it. Paul further describes this strength in Ephesians 3:16-19 and 1 Corinthians 10:13. It is for enduring faith, improved knowledge and understanding, and deeper love; i.e., the fullness of God. #christjesus #love #pray #prayer #gaintheworld #jesus #church #christ #newepisode #churchofchrist #TheOneTrueGod #willard #chroniclesofwillard

Make His Paths Straight - A Very Ritchie Series (No.44)

This is an old expression which has lost much of its meaning upon us today. Back in the old days (I mean ancient history old) city infrastructure didn't exist. There were no sewers, no running water, only basic roads and few places to stay. No hotels, no restaurants, no Walmart. Long stretches of dirt, gravel and stone were worn down by frequent travel from wagons and animals to form “roads” or “highways.” Travel was slow and difficult much of the time. It took weeks, even months to get anywhere. In addition, you had to bring all the supplies you need with you, it being unlikely to find supplies along the way. Some of these roads would twist around close to an oasis to provide water and basic shelter from sun and wind. Walking or riding in a wagon for miles, weeks to months at a time. This was the normal mode of travel. In American history think of the “westward movement” when wagon trains were formed and families would leave Kansas City, cross the Mississippi river arriving in California. Records tell us this road from start to finish took four months. And this was as late as the 1870’s! #christjesus #love #pray #prayer #gaintheworld #jesus #church #christ #newepisode #churchofchrist #TheOneTrueGod #willard #chroniclesofwillard

Control What You Can Control - Walk with the Lord Series (No.5)

Control what you can control, and don’t complain. Have you ever observed those who complain the most seem to be doing the worst in almost every area of their life, but those who do not complain are doing the best? Who would you rather be around, one who complained or one who controlled what they could control? Complaining is toxic. It pulls everybody in reach down. It focuses us on the worst in people rather than the best. It demeans God’s gifts rather than using them to glorify Him. And complaining about something we cannot control is a waste of energy; it never solves the complaint. #christjesus #love #pray #prayer #gaintheworld #jesus #church #christ #newepisode #churchofchrist #TheOneTrueGod #willard #chroniclesofwillard #walkwiththelord

    Speaking Life in Christ

I am crucified with Christ, it’s no longer I who lives, but Christ who lives in me. I am in Jesus, He is in me, we are one. I have the mind of Christ. I am the righteousness of God, in Christ I have been cleansed, forgiven, made new. In Jesus, I am thoroughly loved, adored, treasured and worthy to receive all His blessings. With Jesus, I am an heir of all things. What belongs to Him, now also belongs to me. #inchrist #speaklife #dietoself #vanity #fearGod #pride #selflove #BibleStudy #ChristianPodcast #BiblicalLove #GodIsLove #FaithPodcast #ScriptureStudy #ChristianLiving #BiblicalTruth #LoveInAction #FaithAndLife #SpiritualGrowth #BibleVerses #ChristianTeaching

A Kingdom of Priests - A Very Ritchie Series (No.43)

There is a reason God commanded the children of Israel “thou shalt have no other gods before me” (Exodus 19: 6). God expects his people to be a “holy nation” (2 Peter 3: 9), a people who display him in the very fabric of their lives (Romans 12:1- 2). To “let your light so shine... (Matthew 5: 16) illuminating all life with the light of God. Simply put no idols needed. As John states we are God's image to the world! (1 John 4:12). We do this by being transformed into the image of Christ (John 1: 18, Colossians 1: 15, Hebrews 1: 3, Romans 8: 29). Living as God's image to mankind is a challenge. Each look, every word, the tone of our voice, even my appearance is to display God to others. This conduct of life is daily moment by moment work. As we live in this priestly sacrificial manner, we “prove that which is good and acceptable, the perfect will of God” (Romans 12:2). #christjesus #love #pray #prayer #gaintheworld #jesus #church #christ #newepisode #churchofchrist #TheOneTrueGod #willard #chroniclesofwillard

    Mind Your Thoughts

“Do not curse the king, even in your thought; Do not curse the rich, even in your bedroom; For a bird of the air may carry your voice, And a bird in flight may tell the matter.” ‭‭Ecclesiastes‬ ‭10‬:‭20‬ Have ever seen something and had an instant thought… It doesn’t matter what it is. you see someone with a nice car, and you think: They must have a good job or a lot of money They’re trying too hard to impress someone You see someone who spent a ton of money to make their truck way bigger and louder (both sound and gaudy) and you think: They’re compensating for something They’re going through a crisis What a waste of money #death #dietoself #vanity #fearGod #pride #selflove #BibleStudy #ChristianPodcast #BiblicalLove #GodIsLove #FaithPodcast #ScriptureStudy #ChristianLiving #BiblicalTruth #LoveInAction #FaithAndLife #SpiritualGrowth #BibleVerses #ChristianTeaching

I Am Glorified in Them - A Very Ritchie Series (No.42)

John chapter 17 records Jesus’ prayer as he and the apostles left the upper room after the Passover and walked toward the garden of Gethsemane. This prayer is a tremendous study in the interrelationship between God, man, and Jesus’s pivotal role within that relationship. Jesus' words also reveal his desire to honor not only the father but us as well. There is a very telling phrase in verse 10, “…and I am glorified in them.” In the statements just before this, Jesus speaks of how those of us who believe his words know they are truth from the Father and that Jesus is who he says, the Son of God. Because of our recognition of Jesus as the Son, he prays for our safety within that relationship, “all these that are mine are yours and yours are mine…” #christjesus #love #pray #prayer #gaintheworld #jesus #church #christ #newepisode #churchofchrist #TheOneTrueGod #willard #chroniclesofwillard

Love, Serve and Care - Walk with the Lord Series (No.4)

Do you love what you do? When we love what we do, challenges seem small, adversity is a nuisance, and we overlook rejection. However, if we don’t love what we do, challenges become unconquerable mountains, adversity, an overwhelming fear, and rejection, a statement of our self-worth. All obstacles seem great. The key is for us to do what we love and love what we do. We must be looking, though. Love is the greatest mark between success and failure. How often do we complain? How often do we criticize? How often do we find fault? Love, on the other hand, overlooks a multitude of faults. Love is what separates the good from the great. Good teachers know their lesson plans. Great teachers love their students. Good coaches know the X’s and O’s, but great coaches know and love their players. The rabbis knew the law, sort of, but Jesus knew and loved His creation. #christjesus #love #pray #prayer #gaintheworld #jesus #church #christ #newepisode #churchofchrist #TheOneTrueGod #willard #chroniclesofwillard #walkwiththelord

    Dead People

I’d say the only good things from social media that I have identified are recipe ideas, project ideas and inspirational thoughts from the inspired word of God. Even if the thoughts are off the mark, or a little wild or “denominational” leaning or just out of left field, they are good. You need to know what other thoughts are floating out there. You are designed to be a cognizant being that can think for yourself, make up your own mind, choose the path you want to go. Even the bible says that each person is to search out their own salvation with fear and trembling (Philippians 2:13). I say all this for 2 reasons: It’s good to continue reminding anyone that will listen that social media is a black hole of footholds for the devil, and that you must be extra diligent to thwart off the bad influences and sift out the good ones. I heard the idea for today’s episode on a face-less, AI video that provided perspective around the context given in Romans 7:15ffl… In order to be transformed into who God desires you to be, you have to die!!! #death #dietoself #vanity #fearGod #pride #selflove #BibleStudy #ChristianPodcast #BiblicalLove #GodIsLove #FaithPodcast #ScriptureStudy #ChristianLiving #BiblicalTruth #LoveInAction #FaithAndLife #SpiritualGrowth #BibleVerses #ChristianTeaching

Milk and Honey - A Very Ritchie Series (No.41)

“A land flowing with milk and honey.” We read this expression in scripture and are very familiar with it in relation to the promise of God to the Children of Israel. But what does it mean? It really is strange, since the land did not have rivers of milk or guizers of honey. Even when the spies came back, they did not bring milk or honey! Moses is reading the Law to the Children of Israel at Mt. Nebo, the second giving of the Law known as Deuteronomy. Moses encourages and warns the people through a series of “curses and blessings.” We are familiar with encouragements such as Duet 6, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart.…” But there is a warning which specifically applies to us today. Deuteronomy 8:11-18, “Take care lest you forget the Lord your God by not keeping his commandments…. When you have eaten and are full and have built good houses and live in them…. Beware lest you say in your heart, ‘My power and might of my hand have gotten me this wealth.’” #christjesus #love #pray #prayer #gaintheworld #jesus #church #christ #newepisode #churchofchrist #TheOneTrueGod #willard #chroniclesofwillard

    Both Sides of a Coin

It occurred to me, in no uncertain terms, that credit and blame are basically the same thing, or at the very least two sides of the same coin. Think about it… One side - something good occurs, you seek the credit, you want to be recognized and be elevated. Other side - something bad happens, you assign blame, you want someone else to take the fall. Isn’t this all the same of vanity or self-exaltation?! Look at me, look at me, but only when it’s a good thing. Look away from me when it’s bad. Keep me in the good light Highlight the good and hide the bad Keeping up appearances The social media profile… huh… only showing off what’s a good thing. The facade that is my story, my profile. #credit #blame #pride #selflove #BibleStudy #ChristianPodcast #BiblicalLove #GodIsLove #FaithPodcast #ScriptureStudy #ChristianLiving #BiblicalTruth #LoveInAction #FaithAndLife #SpiritualGrowth #BibleVerses #ChristianTeaching
