Wimbledon Day 12 - Rematch! Alcaraz vs Djokovic final is ON in epic Sunday Showdown
And there we have it... Novak Djokovic versus Carlos Alcaraz at Wimbledon once again is ON! Joel and Kim catch up on the Men’s Singles semi finals which saw both Carlitos and Djokovic make their way through to set up a repeat of last year’s thrilling Final. Novak Djokovic has defied the skeptics and reached his 6th consecutive Wimbledon Final just weeks after knee surgery, dispatching first time semi finalist Lorenzo Musetti in straight sets. Meanwhile, earlier in the day, Carlos Alcaraz sent Daniil Medvedev packing, coming from a set down yet again and demonstrating some liberating tennis en route to the Final. Britain’s Alfie Hewett is also through to both the singles and doubles wheelchair finals, and Joel and Kim make their final predictions for the ladies singles final between Barbora Krejickova and Jasmine Paolini tomorrow. Wimbledon Day 11 - Paolini wins longest ever semi-final at SW19, Krejcikova goes for slam number 2
It's women’s semi-finals day at Wimbledon! And what a treat it was served up on Centre Court as Donna Vekic and Jasmine Paolini played the longest women’s semi in Wimbledon history, and Barbora Krejcikova knocked out 2022 Champion Elena Rybakina. Jasmine Paolini won a titanic tussle with Donna Vekic in a final set tie break to make her second straight Slam final, whilst Barbora Krejcikova will be looking to add a grass court slam to her Roland Garros trophy from 2021. They also look ahead to tomorrow’s men’s semi final action and predict whether we are likely to see another Djokovic vs. Alcaraz final set up. Wimbledon Day 10 - Ruthless Rybakina rolls on, Musetti slices into semis + Barty's back!
Joel and Kim catch up on day 10 at Wimbledon, which saw the sun come out again and showers clear but also disappointment for Alex de Minaur who had to withdrew ahead of his quarter final against Novak Djokovic, giving the 7 time Champ a free pass into the semi finals. Meanwhile, Italian tennis shows its current strength and depth with Lorenzo Musetti joining Jasmine Paolini in the semi final line up with a wily 5 set victory over Taylor Fritz. Wimbledon Day 9 - Sick Sinner sent packing, perfect play from Paolini, awesome Alcaraz advances
The dream Wimbledon semi-final of Sinner vs Alcaraz is OFF. Jannik Sinner was struck down by sickness but battled on to lose a tightly fought 5 setter against iron man Daniil Medvedev. Medvedev winning another 5 setter and reversing the Australian Open result that left him heartbroken in January. He will face Carlos Alcaraz who just keeps getting better and better. He hit scary heights of form in his 4 set victory over Tommy Paul and the defending Champion is looking like the one to beat at Wimbledon. In the women’s draw the sun set on Lulu Sun’s dream run at the hands of experienced grass courter Donna Vekic. She will face French open Finalist Jasmine Paolini in the first semi-final who demolished Emma Navarro with the loss of just three games. Wimbledon Day 8 - Djokovic 'disrespected', Penko POWER is back, Moorrgs vs Zverev
Drama was the dish of the day at Wimbledon and it was best served on Centre Court. We saw Novak Djokovic “disrespected” by the Centre Court crowd, or was he? Were they chanting Rune or “booo” either way the 7 time Champion believed it crossed a line. Taylor Fritz became the latest player to defeat Sasha Zverev in 5 sets when he came from two sets to love down to win. His girlfriend, the most famous woman in men’s tennis shared her thoughts on social media and this seemed to cause a stir with the German… On the women’s side heartbreak for Kalinskaya who lose out to Rybakina when she retired and Ostapenko is yet to drop more than three games in a set. Svitolina also won on a poignant day for her country on Court 2. Wimbledon Day 7 - Sinner vs Alcaraz on track, Raducanu talks Murray, Lulu Sun lights up SW19
We hear exclusively from Emma Raducanu on that Judy Murray tweet and telling Andy Murray she was pulling out of the doubles, Lulu Sun on qualifying, Carlos Alcaraz and Donna Vekic as the first week of Wimbledon draws to a close. Kim and Chris wrap up the action from Day 7 of The Championships, as the 4th round action gets underway on a day filled with sunshine and showers. Emma Raducanu bowed out to inspired qualifier Lulu Sun amidst ongoing debate about her decision to withdraw from the mixed doubles with Andy Murray, whilst 2nd seed Coco Gauff was knocked out by compatriot Emma Navarro in straight sets in a somewhat surprising fashion. Court 1 saw two retirements today, with Madison Keys and Grigor Dimitrov ending their campaigns with upsettint injuries sustained on court, meaning Jasmine Paolini and Daniil Medvedev move on to the Quarter Finals. And Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner remain on course for the much anticipated semi final by continuing their good form with wins over challengers Ugo Humbert and Ben Shelton respectively. Donna Vekic also fought her way through a tough battle with Paula Badosa to break new ground at Wimbledon for the first time, reaching the Quarterfinal stage. Wimbledon Day 6 - Swiatek swept aside, Djokovic finds a way, Shelton's doing it for the Big Dog
More rain at Wimbledon on Day 7 and the showers swept aside world number 1, Iga Swiatek, as she fell to unseeded Yulia Putinseva in three sets. We hear from her in press about whether she will consider playing a warm up tournament next year. Djokovic survived another grand slam four set tussle, this time against Alexi Popyrin in a repeat of their Australian Open clash. Djokovic seems to be improving as the tournament progresses but the knee sleeve remains on and GREY. Elsewhere Rybakina threw down a warning to the draw as she blitzed Dane Caroline Wozniacki to the loss of just 1 game and Jelena Ostapenko wasn't much more charitable when it came to her third round encounter with Pera. Shelton, Rune and Medevdev won their rain delayed matches with Shelton emulating his father's achievement and Medevdev tells us he was lucky to get it done as quickly as he did, even though it did take 2 days and 3 delays! Carlos Alcaraz and Frances Tiafoe's five set thriller lit up Wimbledon on a very wet and gloomy day in SW19. We hear from Carlos Alcaraz in his own words on why he is SO and SO tough to beat in 5th sets as well as Jasmine Paolini on her improving relationship on grass. Emma Raduncau was the British highlight of the day and her relentless dismantling of Maria Sakkari harked back to that US Open 2021 run when she defeated the same opponent in the semi-finals. We hear from Emma on how this performance ranks in her most fun matches and also her next opponent Lulu Sun on her fascinating background from New Zealand to Shanghai to Switzerland and even her UK connection. Wimbledon Day 4 - Andy Murray's emotional farewell, Djokovic knee tested, Swiatek show on Centre
The Andy Murray Wimbledon farewell ceremony has happened and boy was it emotional. There wasn't a dry eye in Centre Court as Jamie Murray and Andy Murray bowed out in the doubles first round. After the contest Sue Barker returned for one last time to lead a tribute to Andy Murray that featured Novak Djokovic, Venus Williams, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer. Joel asked Andy what could be his final ever press conference question at Wimbledon and Andy reflected on this tribute verses THAT ceremony at the Australian Open in 2019. Elsewhere Novak Djokovic's movement was tested and the knee injury looked bothersome but he survived in four sets against Jacob Fearnley. Cam Norrie won the battle of the Brits and knocked out British number 1 Jack Draper and Katie Boulter was also upset by Harriet Dart on No.1 Court in a final set tiebreak. In lighter moments we hear from Danielle Collins who did a 'bag check in press' (wear your SPF) and Taylor Fritz who aired out his on court drama with Arthur Rinderknech when he told him to have a "safe flight home" after the infamous Roland Garros shushing incident of 2023. They look ahead to a wet weather day on day 5 of the Championships and make predictions as to who will make it to R4 all before catching an 11pm Caroline Wozniacki press conference to end the day. Wimbledon Day 3 - Sinner betters Berrettini, Murray-Raducanu doubles, Gauff on track
On Day 3 at Wimbledon it was announced that Andy Murray and Emma Raducanu would be playing mixed doubles together at Wimbledon. Murracanu is ON! In the gentlemen's singles draw: Sinner, Medvedev and Alcaraz all came through close encounters. The match of the day was Sinner - Berrettini in which Jannik Sinner won 3 of 3 tiebreak sets and beat the Wimbledon curfew to get the job done before 11pm. Alcaraz setting up a tasty last 32 match against Frances Tiafoe. On the ladies side Gauff set up a surprise clash against British qualifier Sonay Kartal and there were wins for Elina Svitolina and Bianca Andreescu who are looking to take advantage of a wide open bottom half of the draw. Joel and Chris also make predictions looking ahead to Day 4 when the battles of the brits takes place! Wimbledon Day 2 - Djokovic passes first test, Swiatek makes grass debut, Draper steps into Murray's shoes
Andy Murray announced his withdrawal from singles in his final Wimbledon and Jack Draper stepped up and into the limelight of Centre Court. The trio record from The Championships for the first time together and unnpack all the action from the Centre Court as well as from around the grounds. We interview players including Novak Djokovic when Joel questions Novak on whether he broke the all white dress code with his knee support. Ons tells Chris what the fans were saying on her court and Iga Swiatek talks tough draws at slams. We even hear from Jessica Pegula on her trip to a Kingston escape room... 7 time Champion Novak Djokovic seemed in healthy shape as he won his opener against Czech qualifier Vit Kopriva whilst newly seeded British hope Jack Draper came through in a 5 set battle against Ymer under the roof of Centre Court. Wimbledon Day 1 - Sinner survives scare, Alcaraz opens Centre Court, Raducanu returns to SW19
Sabalenka and Azarenka are out and Alcaraz and Sinner are through and we are here on the grounds at The Championships! Day 1 of Wimbledon is in the Tennis Weekly books and there is plenty for Joel and Chris to catch-up on. Newly crowned World No.1 Jannik Sinner and defending champion Carlos Alcaraz both had to overcome early battles whilst Britain's Emma Raducanu got the Brits off to a flying start along with her compatriots Lily Miyazaki and Sonay Kartal also through to Round 2. Naomi Osaka also won her first match at Wimbledon since 2016 whilst Coco Gauff banished her demons from last year's exit at the first hurdle. Sinner, Paul, Pegula shine in Wimbledon warm-ups but Murray + Djokovic in race against time
Joel, Kim and Chris join forces to talk the week that was on the grass courts of Europe. Super grass starts for Boulter + Draper, Paris Olympics teams - Murray IN, Raducanu OUT
The sweet smell of freshly mowed grass courts is here! French Open Finals - Alcaraz one step from career slam at 21, Swiatek sweeps 4th crown
Finals weekend in Paris... you know what that means! It's time for Joel, Kim and Chris to reunite for their final catchup from Roland Garros 2024, the tournament which saw Iga Swiatek win her third Roland Garros title on the trot with a storming victory over Jasmine Paolini, and Carlos Alcaraz beat Alexander Zverev in five sets to become the youngest ever male player in the Open Era to win a Grand Slam on 3 different surfaces. The trio discuss whether beating Iga Swiatek on this court and surface is the toughest ask in women’s tennis, assess Jasmine Paolini’s two runner up titles this past fortnight and what Alexander Zverev still needs to do to win his first Grand Slam title. With Coco Gauff claiming her first Slam doubles title (to complete a singles and doubles slam set aged 20) and Mate Pavic completing the career Golden doubles slam, this tournament has certainly been one for the stat lovers. French Open QFs - Sinner new No.1, Djokovic out injured, Andreeva ousts Sabalenka
Kim and Chris catch up on the Quarter Final action from Roland Garros, which saw top seeds Elena Rybakina and Aryna Sabalenka ousted by lower ranked opposition, Jannik Sinner become the new World Number 1, and Novak Djokovic withdraw from the tournament with a knee injury. Iga Swiatek cruised through against Wimbledon Champion Marketa Vondrousova whilst Coco Gauff made her third straight slam semi with a comeback win over Ons Jabeur. Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner continue their fine form to set up a showstopper clash on Friday with comfortable wins over Tsitsipas and Dimitrov respectively, whilst Casper Ruud awaits the winner of Sacha Zverev and Alex de Minaur. Chris and Kim also consider Ons Jabeur’s critique of the French Open scheduling, how much of a factor illness played a part in the Sabalenka and Rybakina defeats, and whether Novak Djokovic is likely to miss the Wimbledon Championships in light of his recent injury.
