North Korea Has Just Expanded One of the Most Dangerous Parts of Its Nuclear Programme
Inside North Korea’s Nuclear Expansion North Korea has built a second uranium-enrichment facility at its main Yongbyon nuclear complex as Pyongyang continues to expand the infrastructure capable of producing material for its nuclear programme. The International Atomic Energy Agency says the new two-storey building could accommodate as many as 28 centrifuge cascades. The development is particularly significant because it is not happening in isolation. The nuclear watchdog has also detected indications that an expanded section of the Kangson uranium-enrichment facility near Pyongyang has begun operating, pointing to nuclear infrastructure expanding at multiple locations rather than at a single experimental site.
