I’m Jennie Becker and I’m fascinated by ‘what if’ moments - what they look like, what we can learn from them - and how we can begin to embrace them.

Five years ago I had my very own Sliding Doors Moment when I decided to start this podcast. Since then I’ve been on an incredible journey helping guests join the dots on the small decisions or moments that made a big difference and built the path of their lives.

From Olympians to Presenters, Actors to Entrepreneurs (and even the cast of the 90s hit movie!), each episode I get to meet amazing people and ask them what could have been, if they’d chosen differently…

LOOK BACK: Martin Kemp
With our 100th episode nearly upon us, I have decided to delve into the archives and listen back to some of my favourite episodes from the past 3.5 years! Over the coming weeks we will re-release the Sliding Doors moments from some great guests and discuss some of my thoughts and feeling. Martin Kemp is an actor, musician and director, best known as the base guitarist in Spandau Ballet and for playing the role of Steve Owen in Eastenders. Spandau Ballet became one of the biggest bands of the 80s, touring the world and having huge success with songs such as 'True' and 'Gold.' Martin is equally known for his acting career staring in films such as 'The Krays' and playing Billy Flynn in the West End, as well as winning best male actor at the NTAs for his villainous role as Steve Owen. He has also written two books including one with Shirlie, his lovely wife of over 30 years, and success runs in the family with his son Roman and daughter Harley. Today he can be seen on our screen as a fan favourite on Celebrity Gogglebox and touring around the UK with his Back to the 80's DJ sets! In this episode Martin opens up on his amazing life journey and all the stepping stone moments that have got him to where he is today, as well as some great stories and memories! We chat about his dreams and visualisations of being a pop star and the moment when that finally came true! Martin opens up about the traumatic time when he discovered his brain tumours and how being offered a role in Eastenders ultimately saved his life. He has a brilliant outlook on life and embracing the opportunities we are presented with. Kelvin is an actor best known for playing Andy Sugden in Emmerdale for 20 years and also as the winner of Strictly Come Dancing in 2019. Liz is an actor and voiceover artist who has appeared in a number of roles both on stage and screen. Together they live on their farm in the Peak District with their four children, and have released their first book 'Fletcher's on the Farm.' In this episode Kelvin & Liz delve into the moments that have shaped their lives and how through their aspirations to find a new way of life and taking risks, they manage to live their lives to the fullest. We discuss how a few moments of fate are how they eventually got together in their mid-twenties, and how getting the call to be a replacement contestant on Strictly- was a twist of fate that led Kelvin to win the show! He presents some of TV’s most loved shows such as The Chase, starred in Coronation Street and Doctor Who, has sold out countless comedy shows and also has two top 15 albums! Growing up in Watford, he went on to become a professional footballer. However, when his career ended due to injury, he went on to become a blue coat and got his big break on the Royal Variety show in 1993 and the rest is history! This propelled Bradley into his career in entertainment and then on to become an established actor and a true national treasure! In this episode Bradley tells us all about his incredible journey across his multi-facetted career. We chat all about how breaking his ankle in a football match ultimately led him to the world of entertainment and straight on to the comedy scene. We delve into his theories around never giving up, and putting your all into everything you do as you never know who you will meet along the way. Sliding Doors with Stef Reid
Stef Reid MBE is a silver and bronze Paralympic medalist, Broadcaster, Keynote speaker and Coach and is a trailblazer who embraces high performance in all aspects of life. Following a life altering accident at 15, which dashed her dreams of rugby stardom, she harnessed the power of a carbon fiber running leg to forge a new path. After sheer determination and resilience, she is now a world champion in Long Jump, four-time Paralympian, and triple Paralympic medalist and holds five world records in track and field. Her impact is beyond the track making history as the first amputee to grace the London Fashion Week catwalk and also showcase her resilience on Dancing on Ice in 2022. After an incredible 18-year Paralympic career, Stef retired from elite sports in June 2022, embarking on a mission to empower others to discover their own paths to high performance. In this episode Stef discusses her incredible journey to becoming a Paralympian and her outlook on life and building your own path. She opens up about her life changing accident at age 15 and how there could have been so many other outcomes and what if moments - but how she learnt to take what happened to her and live life to the full. Jenni Falconer is a TV and Radio Presenter, as well as the host of the successful podcast RunPod, an author and the Founder of the wellness brand Kollo Health. She has been a household name for over 20 years on shows such as This Morning and GMTV and can be heard waking up the nation every morning on Smooth Radio's breakfast show. Jenni is a fanatical runner and has ran 9 London marathons and released her debut book 'Runner's High' earlier this year. In this episode Jenni shares her pearls of wisdom on finding your passions, building communities and her journey into broadcasting from being a contestant on Blind Date! Matt Pink, also known as ‘Better Life Guy’, is the Co-Founder of the Dryy app, a best selling Author, Coach and all round advocate for living an alcohol free life. Partrick Grant is a Designer, Businessman, Author and best known as a judge for ten series on BBC One's The Great British Sewing Bee. His career in fashion has spanned almost two decades where he has rebuilt the Savile Row tailor Norton & Sons, and relaunched E. Tautz, for which he won Menswear Designer of the Year. In 2015 Patrick bought the clothing manufacturer Cookson & Clegg which was the catalyst to launch his business Community Clothing which supports local clothing and textile manufacturers across the UK. Patrick is a regular on TV and Radio, as a commentator and a documentary maker and as an author he has written three books, including a Sunday Times bestseller with his latest book ‘Less’. In this episode Patrick delves into where his fascination with how things were made came from and his love for quality made clothing, and how having fewer things in life can bring us more joy. Patrick opens up about his thoughts on coincidences and how he rides the wave of good luck and throws himself into opportunities and how the Great British Seeing Bee changed his life. Jon Culshaw is an accomplished Comedian, Actor and widely regarded as Britain’s best Impressionist. Best known for Dead Ringers and Spitting Image, he has an unmatched versatility and a catalogue of over 350 voices and impressions. Sliding Doors with Ade Adepitan
Ade Adepitan is a TV presenter, Paralympic Medallist and Journalist. With a career spanning over 20 years, he is a disability advocate and one of the first physically disabled television presenters in the UK. Born in Lagos, Nigeria and raised in East London, he survived polio as youngster after he began to lose the use of his legs. Becoming a wheelchair basketball player, he was part of the British team that secured a Bronze medal at the Paralympics, Silver in the European Championships and Gold in The World Championships; And in 2005 he was made an MBE for his services to disability sport. He has won many awards for his work as a presenter at the Paralympics (including a BAFTA) and has hosted countless documentaries and Children in Need. In this episode we get stuck in with the many Sliding Doors Moments Ade has had in his life, including catching Polio and the 'what if' moment he met his wife. Ade has an incredible outlook on life, sports and the challenges we face, especially growing up as a Nigerian family in the 70s in the UK. We delve into the life saving decision Ade made in his teenage years to move to Spain to play basketball. Will Best is a presenter, broadcaster and entrepreneur and is currently best known as the co-host of Big Brother alongside AJ Odudu. He began presenting on some of the UK's biggest youth music channels including MTV, T4 and 4 Music and since then has hosted live coverage across global music festivals, broadcast for BBC Three, Sky Arts and Channel 5 amongst many other impressive credits. Will is also the co-founder of the award winning drinks brand Bloody Drinks and is currently on our screens presenting the revival of Celebrity Big Brother. Ep86: Sliding Doors with Sonny Jay
Sonny Jay is a Presenter, Radio DJ, host of Capital radio’s late show and former winner of 13th series of ITV's Dancing on Ice. Sonny rose to fame in 2012 when he got to the finals of Britain's Got Talent as part of the band Loveable Rogues. In 2015 pop’s loss was radio’s gain, as Sonny dedicated himself to a broadcasting career. He joined Capital in 2017, initially presenting overnights before joining the Capital Breakfast Show alongside his great friends Roman Kemp and Sian Welby. In this episode we chat about Sonny's new lease of life a year on from going solo with his late night radio show and we find out all about why he got on to and went on to win Dancing on Ice.
