Reunion Roadmap Midrash: Each, Every, or All

The people of God should be doing the things of God. Messiah Yeshua put it this way: "If you love me, you will keep my commandments." How do we do that? What exactly are his commandments? How are Yeshua's commandments different from the commandments Moses gave? Barry Phillips and David Jones have some thoughts on these questions. Thanks for listening to Reunion Roadmap! Reunion Roadmap Midrash: The King Is In The Field

Yeshua said he would seek and save that which is lost. What about those he has already found? Does he stop looking after them when they are safely in the fold, or is that when he is best able to see to their needs? This is one line of thought in the conversation Barry Phillips and David Jones share about Elul, the month when "the King is in the field." Thanks for listening to Reunion Roadmap! Reunion Roadmap Midrash: Mercy In No

Why does God say "no" to our requests? Is it possible that saying "yes" might lead to unforeseen negative consequences? Reunion Roadmap Midrash: Law and Order

Boundaries are important. We expect others to respect our boundaries, whether that means our personal space or our property lines. That's one way we are like our Creator. So what are His boundaries, and how do we respect them? These are questions Barry Phillips and David Jones discuss in this conversation. Thanks for listening to Reunion Roadmap! Israel Connections: Bob O'Dell - The Echoes Bible

Even a casual reader of the New Testament notices that the writers refer to passages from the Old Testament, or Tanakh. That means Paul and his contemporaries were aware of what Moses and the Prophets wrote, but did they have a deeper purpose and pattern in their writing that goes beyond simple quotations and references? This is the line of thinking that motivated Bob O’Dell and his colleagues to look for patterns, or echoes, from the Torah in the Gospels and Epistles of the Apostolic Writings. What they found is astounding: the New Testament books precisely mirror, or echo, the books of the Torah! Whether this was intentional on the part of the apostolic authors, or divine guidance from the Holy Spirit, the patterns are clearly identifiable. The result of all this is publication of The Echoes Bible, a series of volumes pairing books of the Torah with the echoing books from the Apostolic Writings. In this interview, Bob tells us the story of The Echoes Bible, and takes us into an investigation of the echoes of Leviticus that Paul built into Romans. This is just a sample of the many treasures opening up through this new lens of looking at scripture! There are currently three volumes of The Echoes Bible in print: Leviticus & Romans, Numbers & 1 Corinthians, and Deuteronomy & 2 Corinthians. More are on the way! Reunion Roadmap Midrash: Teach It To

In the Proverbs we read that we're supposed to train up our children in the way they should go. If that means teaching them God's ways, then what do we do when God's ways clash with the world's ways? That's what David Jones and Barry Phillips investigate in this conversation. Reunion Roadmap Midrash: Perfection and Fear

    Reunion Roadmap Midrash: Living Water

Messiah Yeshua said we were supposed to have in us wells of living water springing up to eternal life. Do those wells ever run dry? If so, what do we do? Bob O'Dell: The Echoes Bible, part 3

What does salvation have to do with Israel’s return from exile to their ancestral homeland? What does Messiah have to do with the distinction between clean and unclean animals? Those are among the questions addressed in this third part of our conversation with Bob O’Dell about The Echoes Bible. Bob leads us through an investigation of the echoes from Leviticus 20 in Romans 10, and in the process uncovers a number of connections that provide depth and breadth to our faith! And regarding our faith, is Bible study a manly activity? Barry Phillips and David Jones have some thoughts on that in their midrash, “Be A Man.” Yes, godly men are people of action, but there are elements of peace and praise in their lives, as we hear in the music of Eved Adonai and the Aleph Tav Band. There are currently three volumes of The Echoes Bible in print: Leviticus & Romans, Numbers & 1 Corinthians, and Deuteronomy & 2 Corinthians. More are on the way! Bob O'Dell: The Echoes Bible, part 4

Is the New Testament a midrash on the Torah? Bob O’Dell suggests that’s one way to look at it. That’s an observation that has grown out of his work with The Echoes Bible, which uncovers the connections of New Testament writings with the works of Moses. As Bob explains, since Jewish scholars have been midrashing – discussing, theorizing, and postulating – on the Torah for centuries, it stands to reason that the Jewish writers of the New Testament would have done the same. That’s a thread that enlivens our conversation in this fourth part of our interview. Regarding midrash, Barry Phillips and David Jones investigate the implications of the instruction to train up our children in the way they should go. Who should do this training, what standards should they use, and what is the desired outcome? Our musical guests, Samuel and Benjamin Wearp and the Exodus Road Band, share insights on this topic. Bob O'Dell: The Echoes Bible, part 5

When we want to know the connection between the Levitical priesthood and the redemptive work of Messiah Yeshua, we might go to the book of Hebrews. Bob O’Dell, however, would suggest looking at the primary source, which is the book of Leviticus. Bob draws the connection between the commandments about priestly households in Leviticus, and Paul’s essay on God’s restored household in Romans. That’s one of many topics we cover in this final segment of our conversation about The Echoes Bible! Here’s a hint: the connection Bob make concerns who can eat the holy things offered on the altar. Yeshua said something about that in regard to himself. That’s the topic of the midrash by Barry Phillips and David Jones, “Eat My Flesh, Drink My Blood.” Yeshua made a figurative statement, of course, but with deep practical meaning. We hear about what he meant in the music of Ray Myers and the Exodus Road Band. Thanks for listening to Reunion Roadmap! Bob O'Dell: The Echoes Bible, part 1

Whether this was intentional on the part of the apostolic authors, or divine guidance from the Holy Spirit, the patterns are clearly identifiable. The result of all this is publication of The Echoes Bible, a series of volumes pairing books of the Torah with the echoing books from the Apostolic Writings. In this five-part interview, Bob tells us the story of The Echoes Bible, and takes us into an investigation of the echoes of Leviticus that Paul built into Romans. This is just a sample of the many treasures opening up through this new lens of looking at scripture! There are currently three volumes of The Echoes Bible in print: Leviticus & Romans, Numbers & 1 Corinthians, and Deuteronomy & 2 Corinthians. More are on the way! To learn more and to purchase The Echoes Bible volumes, visit https://www.echoesbible.com/. How we look at scripture, and how we look at life, is a question of perspective, as Barry Phillips and David Jones explain in their midrash, “Follow Your Eyes Or Not.” Two musical commentaries on this thought come from the creative talents of Peter Wales and Ray Myers. Bob O'Dell: The Echoes Bible, part 2

Is it possible that the Apostle Paul intentionally organized his letter to the Romans according to the topical outline of Leviticus? Bob O’Dell contends that Paul not only did that with Romans, but also with his other letters. That’s why he and his colleagues are publishing The Echoes Bible as a multivolume study tool to uncover these New Testament connections with the Torah! We dive into those echoes of Leviticus and Romans in this second of our five-part conversation. One well-known echo in scripture is Yeshua’s reference in John 3 to the Bronze Serpent of Numbers 21. Barry Phillips and David Jones investigate the wider and deeper meanings of that connection in their midrash, “Out of the Mouths of Snakes.” It’s really a matter of how we get along with others, as we hear in the music of Solomon Lopez and Will Spires. There are currently three volumes of The Echoes Bible in print: Leviticus & Romans, Numbers & 1 Corinthians, and Deuteronomy & 2 Corinthians. More are on the way! Israel Connections: Tzefaniah Pappas - Ephraim, Judah, and Jealousy

One of the items to be addressed in the Messianic age is the enmity between Christians and Jews. These are the two halves of God’s Covenant People of Israel, identifiable in scripture as Ephraim and Judah. Isaiah tells us what their reconciliation will look like: The jealousy of Ephraim shall depart, and those who harass Judah shall be cut off; Ephraim shall not be jealous of Judah, and Judah shall not harass Ephraim. Isaiah 11:13 ESV Isaiah doesn’t tell us exactly how this will happen, which is why it’s wise to ask our Heavenly Father about it. Tzefania Pappas has not only done that, but he and his wife, Reyyna, have been walking out the counsel they have received from the Lord to do their part in healing this breach. In this special podcast, Tzefania shares a word he recently received about Ephraim’s attitudes and actions toward our Jewish brethren, which can be described as detached, distant, out of place, and aloof. There is hope, of course. As Tzefania explains, the God of Israel has a plan to heal this breach and fulfill his promises – and he calls on all of us to do our part! Reunion Roadmap Midrash: Do You Need an Oil Change?

Sometimes we hear revival described as fresh oil from our Heavenly Father. What if we've got that the wrong way around - as in, we provide the oil that keeps the fire burning before His Presence? Ray Myers: Under the Tallit, part 4

Don’t let anything stop you from exercising the creativity God put in you. That’s the message Ray Myers leaves with us in this closing segment of our conversation. As we have heard in the previous segments, Ray has lived that message through music, and is learning how to multiply his talents through the technology of Artificial Intelligence. We are blessed to hear three examples of Ray’s music as performed through his AI persona, Under the Tallit. A major part of Ray’s testimony concerns his journey of repentance, or teshuva, as he worked through trials and troubles, much of which was of his own making. That’s a journey we must all make, as we hear from Barry Phillips and David Jones in their midrash called, “Teshuva.” Ray’s music is available on Spotify and iTunes at Under the Tallit.
