    Refresh My Memory – Space Camp

    To misquote Firefly’s Wash Washburn, “I am a Leaf Phoenix on the wind, watch how I soar!” The year is 1986 and the film Jason Dedrick, Eric Fell and Vicky Van are remembering is Space Camp starring Leaf (soon to be Joaquin) Phoenix. Also there’s a robot called Jinx – not to be confused with the Halle Berry character of the same name. As the hosts talk they are refreshed by a drink called The Little Green Man, made from Brazilian Lemonade, topped off with a splash of Melon liquor. How do make Brazilian Lemonade? Well, first you need to deal with the fact that it’s actually limeade. They also create a tribute drink called The Kate Capshot. Here’s how to make it… Mix a Slurpee/Froster/Icee style drink with soft serve ice cream. Top with an ounce of Southern Comfort. Serve with a small rocket nearby.     Judge not lest ye be Judge Reinhold. I think it says that somewhere in the Bible or maybe Robert McKee’s Story. Anyhoo, Vicky Van, Eric Fell and Jason Dedrick are back to talk about their memories of 1984’s Beverly Hills Cop. Will they forget to talk about Bronson Pinchot? Don’t be ridiculous. As a nod to Pinchot’s Serge, the hosts enjoy an Espresso Martini with Lemon. Also since it’s a buddy movie, they will also dine on A & W Buddy Burgers.     Time for the talking of The Taking of Pelham One Two Three. Jason Dedrick, Eric Fell and Vicky Van take you aboard their trains of thought, stopping at 1974. This trip does have snacks including Jell-O 1-2-3. Unfortunately the last package was made 20 years ago. So we did a three layer version of our own with cherry, orange and lemon.     Refresh My Memory – Jack’s Back

    Who’s back? Refresh My memory. Also Jack. Who’s Jack? Well, let Jason Dedrick, Eric Fell and Vicky Van tell you while sharing their first impressions of this 1988 “classic”. But what snacks to snack to Jack’s Back? Are they top of the pack? Or are they whack? First, the hosts will enjoy some Monterey Jack cheese on a Ritz, the most James Spader of crackers. Next is a beverage found online called Jack the Ripper. Break out the Jack Daniels and add orange juice and cinnamon to taste. They also create a tribute drink called the Smokin’ Picardo. Here’s how to make it: Take a chilled tumbler. Add two ounces of Sheridan’s Original Irish liquor – a mix of dark, rich coffee liqueur with a hint of chocolate and a smooth vanilla cream liqueur.     Have you driven a Ford (into jumping off the Cheoah Dam) lately? Tommy Lee Jones has and that means it’s time for some memories of 1993’s The Fugitive.     What do you call a movie with all your favourite cartoon characters being killed? The Transformers: The Movie from 1986. It’s time for Refresh My memory: The Podcast to hear Vicky Van, Jason Dedrick and Eric Fell’s recollections. Does the film have the touch? Does it have the power? Or is it less than meets the eye?     It’s time for the podcast they were so busy figuring out how to do, they didn’t ask themselves should they Yabba Dabba Do? (Sorry, this intro was originally written for The Flintstones movie and we hoped this was similar enough to work.) Jason Dedrick, Eric Fell and Vicky Van find a DVD preserved in amber from 1993 and share their first experiences with Stephen Spielberg’s classic tale of a man, who once played Santa, meddling in God’s domain. Along the way they enjoy some Dino Nuggets and a drink called Clever Girl.     In space, no one can hear you stream. Unless you record a podcast. Which is what Eric Fell, Vicky Van and Jason Dedrick did – talking about their memories of James Cameron’s 1986 classic Aliens. Or as he first pitched it, Alien$. Snacks were served including vanilla pudding to simulate the insides of Bishop. Also, there’s a drink called the Alien, how do you make it? In a tumbler with ice add 1 oz Vodka 1 oz Blue Curacao Add Orange Juice and Lemonade to taste They also create a tribute drink called The Bad Call. How do you make it? In a tumbler with ice add 0.5 oz lime juice 1 Blue Curaçao or Empress Gin (we need a blue alcohol) 1 oz Grenadine Add 7-Up to taste (Note: We had to substitute Melon liqueur for Curaçao because we used it up. Which made the drink green, not blue.)
