Around August 7, coastal South Jersey saw dew points near 75 degrees around the clock—levels of lasting humidity the state has not experienced in 10 to 15 years.

Worse drought, record heat & killing freeze | April 2026 Monthly Weather Roundup

Drought continues for the sixth month in a row in New Jersey, according to the state's Department of Environmental Protection. Now, though, other indicators are showing warning signs of a crippling drought, too. Believe it or not, April was in the top 10 for warmest Aprils since records started in 1895. That's true even though April 21 brought a killing freeze to most of New Jersey only seen once or twice a decade.

Dr. Dave Robinson, the New Jersey State Climatologist and I talk about New Jersey's March 2025 weather. The drought is getting better, bad drought in the south shrinking, though the northern Highlands and far south are still under significant drought conditions. Speaking of drought, March had no snow. It was warmer than usual—4.2 degrees above normal—making it the 11th warmest March ever, starting cold but ending with super warm days. The two then mention a big cold front on March 29th that made temperatures drop 32 degrees in one hour in some spots, plus this winter was the windiest since 2010-2011 with lots of wind warnings.
